Chapter 10: Chapter 10
Eleanor
Just then, Jake immediately pushed himself off me, his hands hovering near my shoulders like he wasn't sure whether to steady me or back away completely.
"Shit, are you okay?" He said in a softer tone, the frustration from before replaced with concern.
I blinked up at him, still a little stunned. "Yeah…yeah, I'm fine."
He hesitated for a second, scanning my face as if making sure I wasn't lying. Then, the moment passed, and his jaw tensed as he turned, and began thundering down the sidewalk and even though I didn't know exactly why, I followed after him immediately.
I didn't see who had bumped into us earlier as Jake was obstructing my view with his body but it was pretty obvious from the way he walked towards the guy in front that he was responsible.
"Hey…you." He said, calling out to his attention right before he was about entering the arcade and I stiffened. I knew that silhouette anywhere, it was him.
Liam.
Annoyance coursed through me as I gritted my teeth. Ever since I had bumped into Liam in the hallway, I kept seeing him everywhere and it was infuriating and thanks to all those stupid coincidences, I could now recognize him just by looking at his freaking back!
Ugh!
When Liam didn't turn, Jake shoved him in a more gentle way compared to how Liam did earlier and I couldn't help but wish I was the one who shoved him. I'm sure I would have slammed him into the ground if I had the chance.
Liam then slowly turned to face us with an irritated look on his face and it only made my annoyance grow.
Of course he had to look at us like we were dirt on his shoe. I didn't read the novel to the end but I just hope he had some major character development. If not, I wouldn't even let Sofia be with him because if he's always around her, that'll mean he'll also be around me.
And if he was still going to be a jerk, then I wouldn't let it happen.
My gaze flickered towards Jake and that was when I realized that Jake had also recognized him but why wasn't he moving? Wasn't he going to say anything?
The irritation on Liam's face switched to annoyance and I could tell he was about to say something but I decided to give him a piece of my mind first. But unfortunately, Jake didn't let me do it.
"Thea…" he cautioned in a low whisper, grabbing my hand. "Leave it. He's in our school."
What? He's in our school?? Oh so now he was worried about someone seeing us???
Ugh. Sometimes I just wished I actually died that day and wasn't put through any of this drama.
I stared up at Jake, who gave my hand a small squeeze and I let out a small breath to calm myself down.
Maybe next time.
"Sorry about that." Jake said to him as he pulled me away. "We mistook you for someone else."
We mistook you for someone else? That's the best thing he could come up with??
"I don't care about your stupid apology. Just get out of my way next time." He said before walking into the building and I wrapped my fingers into a tight fist just so I wouldn't go after him.
What a pompous asshole.
"Why did you apologize? He's the one who bumped into you." My lips twisted in a frown as I slowly pulled away from his grasp.
I didn't want to raise any suspicions again.
"Yeah but don't you know who he is?" Jake queried before glancing backwards.
"Of course I do." I snorted. "He's human."
Jake then let out a small laugh before saying, "And that human is also in our school and even though he doesn't associate with anyone, he still has a mouth. Weren't you the one who was worried about this?"
I blinked a bit confused as I processed his words.
Me? So that means Thea was the one who suggested they keep their relationship a secret? But why?
None of this is making any sense and why didn't she write any of this in her diary?
Argh! Jesus Christ.
"I am still worried, I just don't like Liam." I crossed my hands over my chest. Even though I knew nothing about this, I still had to keep up the act. To think the diary wasn't helpful after all and now there were a lot of other things I needed to find out about myself.
Great.
"We all don't."
"So now, we're not going to the arcade anymore?" I decided to switch gears and not dwell on Liam. After all, he was Sofia's love interest, which meant she was the one who was going to deal with his stupid attitude and not me. So I shouldn't bother myself too much.
Besides she was a sweet girl and Liam was a grumpy maniac so I guess they were made for each other after all.
"We can go somewhere else." Jake flashed me a small smile.
"So he doesn't only bump into you but also ruins our plans for the evening. Great." I said, my voice tinged with mockery.
"Relax Thea, they're a dozen other places we can hang out, besides it's getting late. We wouldn't have spent much time in there either way." He let out a small laugh.
"I guess." I mumbled.
"Cheer up." I felt his hand around me as he pulled me towards him. "Don't let that dimwit ruin your mood." His voice dropped to a small whisper which made me feel a bit nauseous and uneasy.
I could swear on my life that I didn't like the idea of Jake touching me but my body…or rather Thea's body reacted almost instantly and before I realized I was already soaking wet and my clit was throbbing nonstop.
What in the freaking world?!
I knew Jake was breathing down on my neck but his hand was just on my waist! So why was I so turned on??
