Unlasting World

The weekend has ended, and Monday has arrived.

The students are now rushing towards the gymnasium where the finals will be held.

While the second and third years are also doing their finals today, the amount of hype that the students wield on them is nowhere near the hype they have on the first years. 

The top students from the second and third years are already seasoned and they are well known to the students of every year. Hence, the crowd already knew what they were expecting from the second and third year.

But, the first years have been a blast.

Right now, if any of the finalists of the first year were to battle against a second or third year finalist, chances are they will be either tied or winning. That is just how insane the level of talented individuals in the first years.

That is indeed the reason why the crowd is expecting so much on this final.

The first to go is from group A. Arfius against a student from class E, who is lucky enough to make it all this way.

He wasn't exactly weak, but he is not too strong like Maneil or Jericho. He made it all this way because of luck, but everyone still cheered for him.

"Don't back down, Alden! You can do it!"

"Yeah!! Beat his ass!!"

The class E boys group are shouting some words of encouragement at Alden, but he looks quite lifeless already.

"Oh dear... I hope I get to eat something tasty beforehand..."

He mumbles as he enters the arena while the crowd around him cheered even louder. On the other side of the arena, his opponent stepped up into the arena and faced him. It is the great Arfayes Poleyres himself.

"There it is folks!! The finalists of group A are now standing against each other in the arena!! Let's give them a cheer!!"

The crowd cheered for the beginning of the battle, and all of the sudden Alden had a great stomach-ache.

"Dear me, I'm going to puke…"

He mumbled to himself as he held his stomach.

Alden… a lightning mage. He was picked alongside me and Lemillia for the Battle Royale event thanks to his lightning magic capabilities.

A fast one, huh… He wasn't any faster than Maneil though. Or was he?

I just hope something interesting happens here. After all, the guy surely has undergone a lot of changes ever since that event.

"Ready!? Then let's begin the countdown!!"

Arfius then slowly formed a stance, but his gaze suddenly dropped at his opponent and he looked quite shocked.

Alden looked to be quite serious. His gaze is now sharpened as his whole body stutters from the powerful lightning magic augmenting his body. He formed a stance as he gazed at his opponent with a fearsome look.

"Heh! That's more like it."

Arfius said as he got ready himself.

"Oh… it is going to be interesting."

I said to myself as I watched Alden, because there was no one next to me. The finalists are placed away on a different spot than the spectators, and now we are all on our own right next to our little benches.

Across the arena in front of me, Jericho is also sitting there on her own bench all alone, watching the battle.

"Three!! Two!! One!! Go!!!"

The commentator started the countdown and the match began. Alden quickly moved like a blur thanks to his lightning augmented muscles and rushed towards Arfius.

Arfius too also augmented his entire body in blue lightning. The two clashed in a high speed combat of close range and fist fight. Funnily, even though Arfius is not using his destructive attacks, Alden is still holding his own in the battle.

The two then clashed their fists and got thrown far. They stopped to take a breath.

"You… are definitely a very good martial practitioner!!"

Arfius praised his opponent, but Alden still had his fearsome glare.

"Well… More or less."

The two then continued to fight as a blur of lightning. I had to enchant my eyes to be able to see their whole fight.

Using high speed, Alden threw a kick towards Arfius's face, but Arfius managed to duck in time. Then he dashed towards Alden's side and threw a punch, but Alden became a faster blur of lightning and teleported behind Arfius.

Still confused as to what happened, Arfius got punched on the back and got thrown forward.

"Whew. He punched Arfius."

I whistled as I watched Arfius rolled on the ground and slowly regain his balance. The crowd turned wild as Arfius touched his slightly sore back from the punch.

"That was the first damage I have received so far in this battle arena... You really are interesting!!"

Arfius dashed forward again, but Alden was already behind him.

"… And you are a little too slow for me."

BAAKKK!!!

"Gahakk!!!"

Arfius quickly turned around, but then a smack can be felt on his stomach. He coughed some of his saliva as he curled on the ground from the stomach ache.

"Alden!! Finish him now!!"

Jericho shouted from her side, but Alden simply turned to her. His gaze is still a little demeaning, even towards Jericho.

"Finish him? That wouldn't be fun, would it?"

After getting the cold answer from Alden, Jericho got taken aback and wide eyed. 

This is new, Alden was normally a happy-go-lucky guy that always gets bad luck. But now, it's like he snapped or something.

It's like he has a hidden form…

Alden turned to face Arfius who was slowly waking up from the ground.

"Someone once told me, a long while ago… to never show mercy on the battlefield."

Alden said as he walked towards Arfius who was slowly getting back up.

W-Wait… that was my words, wasn't it?

"Everyone is out to get you… and they won't stop until you are down, even if you hold back against them. 

I hope that smack made you realize to never hold back."

He actually… listened to me.

I'm amazed. Alden will certainly become someone great.

But now that he has said it... things will not go as easy for him anymore.

"Heh. I held back because it was fun… But if you say so…"

Arfius is now standing back up again, and in a blink, he leaped away. He augmented his hands with wind magic, his legs with lightning magic, while his whole body is slightly covered with ice armor.

VWOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!

That is… Arfius's ultimate form.
