Chapter 339: Special Chapter III - Rivalry of the Two (part 2)

The crowd turned wild from the battle just now, and they all looked pretty satisfied.

Both Maneil and Jericho are strong and smart, but in the end, tactics and skill wins a battle. Maneil was able to score in tactics, but Jericho is a lot better at mastering her abilities and she also could do some planning herself. In the end, Jericho is still above Maneil.

Jericho slowly made her way towards me, but her legs looked pretty wounded from her own attack. She almost fell to the floor, but I dashed forward and captured her before she fell to the ground.

"... See? Told ya I'm going to see you at the finals."

"Right. You might need a lot of rest for today."

"I told youu~… I will go to the finals..."

She slowly fell to her slumber. I healed her wounds and lifted her up then brought her to the healers on the side of the arena. They took her and Maneil to the medic room and let them rest for a while.

Looking at the arena now, it looks quite devastated. But, fixing this up won't take long, since earth mages that the academy has are very good at their jobs.

After three minutes, the whole arena was fixed. The earth magicians are now fixing the walls where Maneil crashed, while the commentator continued the commentary.

"Alriigghhttt!!! That was an intense battle!! Will we get to see more of those!? Most likely!!! Because we have Rize Violet from class E going next, who is the top student of the first year, rivalling that of Arfius!"

She really is exaggerating me…

I moved to the arena and faced my opponent from class A. This guy must be class A's top student after Arfius. If it wasn't for Arfius, this guy should have been the top.

"So you are the one said to rival Arfius? I am interested. Show me your full strength!"

He said as he took a stance. His whole body slowly covers itself in lightning armour while his hand forms a two bladed sword made out of fire.

A dual elemental, and the two most destructive ones at that. Fire and lightning have the burn and explosive effect, and this guy has those two. He is definitely the attacking type.

Maybe… I should try my defensive capabilities on him. For practice purposes…

"Begin!!"

He quickly moved forward like lightning, but my eyes could see his every move.

His lightning magic may be a Knight tier, but he is nowhere near as fast as Prym or Arfius. Therefore, I shouldn't have much of a problem with him.

I casted a multi-layered shadow wall in front of me, but he leaped upwards and entered my range from the top. He spun his dual edged sword as he was about to strike me, but I simply made my shadow wall higher.

He crashed his face to the shadow wall and fell to the ground in shame.

"Kugh!! You can lift it that fast!?"

"Well, if I'm only lifting a small amount, yes. I can go that fast."

"Then, I will go faster!!"

He shouted from behind the shadow wall and a thunderous clap can be heard from his position. Suddenly the shadow wall in front of me cracked as he tried to punch it using his augmented fist, and after the third punch, the shadow wall broke.

He dashed in immediately.

ZRINGG!!!

He tried to stab my neck using his sword, but I simply tilted my head to the left.

Now I can see his sword correctly. Even though it's a conjured sword, he does have some nice details on it. He made it curvy on one spot and managed to make it quite sharp.

I'm impressed. Not that many people can conjure weapons this detailed.

Then time moved on normally again, and he tried kicking me using his highest speed. I enchanted my back so that it could bend backwards while my face was facing his foot.

His lightning armour also looked quite detailed. The lightning sparks on his armour looks cool too, and there are little dents on the armour to make it more aerodynamic. To be able to put this much detail into his armour, he definitely put his time into it.

Time moved normally again, and this time he unleashed a fireball with his other hand and tried to burn me with it.

I grabbed the fireball with my hand and it exploded. When the smoke clears, it can be seen that my hand burned slightly from the explosion, but overall, I looked fine.

"Y-You burned your hand intentionally!"

"That was not even a burn."

I lifted the same hand upwards, and shadow spikes came from the ground. It was a very quick action, but he was able to sense it before it came. He leaped backwards just in time as the thirty centimetres shadow spikes I conjured stabbed from the ground.

"Tch! Shadow magicians are creative and annoying… Luckily, that's all you can do!"

He turned into a blur again and stopped on my left. He unleashed his most powerful combination of an attack. A fire blaze combined with a lightning strike, and the two destructive attacks came at me at high speed.

However, I leaped up easily.

BAARR!!!

The combination attack exploded when it impacted with the walls.

The guy looked up to see me and my shadow wings in the air, glaring down on him while holding a sword made out of shadow on my hands.

"Y-You can fly!?"

"Yes. Can't you?"

I dashed down at him at devil speed and swung my shadow sword. He immediately lifted his fire sword as quick as he could, and a spark appeared when the blades contacted.

The two non-existent swords clashed with each other as the two of us went deeper into the sword fight. I have to say, he is definitely trained in sword arts. The two of us are practically even in this state, but he is using a dual bladed sword.

Noticing that I am losing, I conjured a second sword on my left hand. He saw the sword being forged instantly on my left hand, and he couldn't help but panic.

"Wha--!!"

KLANK!!!

My barrage of attacks became faster as I used my second sword to attack him. Not only that, I started to use my wings and flew a little bit while clashing my sword to his. This is a really weird strategy, but it overwhelmed him quite a lot since I am both fast and much higher than his eyes.

After a while, he fell to the ground tired. I didn't want to finish him because I wanted to make him my target of practice as I trained in this winged two sword battle, and then an idea came across my mind.

I removed the swords and conjured another weapon…

A scythe.

"S-Scythe??"

"Yeah."

I dashed forward and swung the scythe at high speed. He can barely dodge and parry the scythe because it is large and quite curvy. If he can't parry, he has to dodge, and that drains his energy even more.

If it's a sword, you can still parry to conserve energy, but a scythe doesn't always have an option to be parried. As a result, he dodged nearly half of my attacks and his stamina dropped even faster.

He landed on the ground all sweating, and he finally decided to give up.

The commentator announced me the winner after that.
