Y/n's POV

I woke up screaming in pain and fear. I felt my body shake with the overwhelming feeling of the pain that I experienced but was no longer there. I couldn't hold my sobs in and didn't care at all about where I was.

I hate it so much….it always hurts and I have to endure it again??????? I don't want to anymore….please….

I jumped and tried to pull away when I felt arms wrap around me. "Shh, it's me. It's Emma! Remember me?"

I shook with sobs at seeing my friend. The only friend I had and hadn't seen in so long. I wrapped my arms around her tightly and sobbed against her shoulder.

I can't explain. I can't…it hurts even now….

I felt her pat my back as she tried to calm me down, eventually bringing my tears to a slow stop but I still didn't want to pull away.

"Y/n, what happened? Sanzu brought you and you woke up screaming. Did someone hurt you again?"

I can't tell her I keep dying and coming back here….she'll think I'm nuts and worry more than she already is…

I pulled away just enough to look at her and shake my head no. "It was just a bad dream…" It came out as a whisper. "I missed you so much, M & M."

The nickname I used for her made her smile. "I missed you too. Jerk! You should've trusted me and let me be your friend still!" She looked so hurt and I hated that I did that, but it didn't change anything. She's still Mikey's sister. She's still his family, someone he cares deeply for. 

I won't put a wedge between them.

"Don't do that." Mikey's voice came from just behind Emma and I couldn't bring myself to look at him. "I knew the reason when I thought about it why you stopped seeing Emma." I continued to look down and away even as he approached me close enough to where I could see his feet. As if knowing I wouldn't make eye contact with him willingly, he crouched down so it happened without meaning to. "You stayed away because of me, right?" His voice was monotone, but I tried to answer with honesty.

"She's your family, Mikey. I won't turn her or anyone against you when you hold them so close to your heart. You need them." I started to look away when he cupped my face to make me look at him again.

He hurt me….

I felt him move his thumbs over my cheeks.

He shot me in the future….

I felt Emma get up from where we were sitting and walk out of the room, closing the door behind her. My bottom lip trembled as it became harder to see him clearly through my tears. He moved his hands to my waist and moved so he could hold me in his lap.

You keep turning me away…and hurting me…

He pulled me against his chest, leaning his chin against my shoulder. "I need you, too."
