The World’s King Slayer

Chapter 118: Return of the King Slayer pt. 5

Sun Demon and Scarab cut down automatons before coming to a double door. Scarab with his own blood drew a magic circle upon the door. The blood then ignited into a purple chi and burned away. The door then opened violently revealing a platform with two giant green tanks above it. The platform was round and was a magic circle. Inside the table were glowing orbs of souls all crowded in the glowing green liquid. In the center of the platform sat the Topaz King. He cocked his head to the side. "Wow…look at you Farrah?" The king said with a flat tone.

Upon his lap was his sword sheathed and radiating a dark chi. "Seems you failed to learn the lesson from last time? You brought me the instrument to your destruction" he pointed to Scarab. Normally he would be correct. But Sun Demon had a conversation before entering this room. Scarab took precautions using every mental spell he could. And giving a few talismans to Sun Demon as a precaution. He would not corrupt her friend's mind and turn him into an enemy.

In the likelihood that he did. Sun Demon had planned an attack that would immobilize him. Scarab was the first to attack, creating a spell that sent out a mist from his grimoire. This flooded the room blocking the Topaz King from using his mask. Scarab then teleported to the ceiling and remained. Keeping out of the way of Sun Demon he would play a secondary role. Sun Demon could feel his presence through the smoke. "So you decided to use the lack of visibility I see? Well one problem is that everything in this room from the corner to the very pillars holding it up are under my control. The engineer before he died had one last trump card that we hid from the public. Something that changed me forever being the only living being that possesses this new tech" his body began to glow illuminating him in the dark cloudy room. "He called them Micro Bots. They change their environments running on chi along with a consuming spell they alternate from taking and giving. They replicate and regenerate. Inside my body they are changing it, elevating me to the Celestial Step even further. Once they consume all these souls then I truly will be unstoppable" he sighed during his monologue. A beam of light shot at him. He moved like a pixelated blur as body looked fluid. "I'm sick of listening to your voice any more!" Sun Demon shouted. She burst through the smoke and began attacking the king. He parried an attack and swirled around her in a pixelated form. He then grabbed her mask and threw her towards a wall. She slammed into it. She quickly saw the blade of the sword point coming at her head. She turned to the left and drove her shaft into the king's chest. It burst out the other end. She was then hit in the face sending her flying sideways. She recuperated and got to their feet, slashing away a sword attack. She spun her spear around and began controlling the fight. The king kept up now dodging and parrying her attacks. She moved like light as she ducked a sword slash and then drove her spear into his chest. He laughed as he pulled it out and drove a kick into her face.

His wound healed and he looked unphased. A plume of fire then descended on him engulfing him in flames. The flames morphed into a flaming serpent that wrapped him. The spear flew through the air impaling his face, exploding his very head into nothing but pulp. The spear came to a stop embedded into the wall. It shook the room from the impact.

The king's body twitched as his head began to grow from his shoulder. Revealing his true face without the crown. He was a man with a mustache and a wide smile. His eyes were bright lavender as he looked around. Sun Demon could tell his pupils looked off. They were not rounded but more square. He grinned at his daughter. "The mask no longer worked anyway to tell you the truth. It became more a wardrobe choice over the years. I tinkered with it so many times it was on its last leg" the king said as he ran a hand through his short brown hair. "I am no longer a king so why bother with the crown anymore. I give up on this realm" he extended his arms as the flaming snake shattered. The ground then started to shake. The very city rumbled as something was coming from underground. The king then turned to a pixelated dust and shot past Sun Demon out the facility.

Red Demon stared at Draven's head sitting on the ground feet from him. He sighed as he stood up and as he did so the ground started to shake. Some buildings began to crumble as the whole city began to move. The center of the city a hole began to open. Buildings and sections of the city began to fall inside it as forcefully opened up. Inside was pure blackness.

No light could penetrate its depths. Red Demon heard a stirring inside the facility his companions were in. From the doors burst a cloud of black mist. It moved on its own and towards the sky. "What the hell is happening?" He stood confused as he watched what unfolded next. From the hole at the center of the city came a black mist like one he just saw before, only more robust and bigger. It looked like a swarm of insects from where he stood. The swarm then became more uniform as it turned into a sphere. The small mist he saw that left the facility merged with the big one and was then lost from view. Smiling followed by Sun Demon and Scarab. "By the gods…" Sun Demon mumbled as she stared at the moving cloud. "What is that?" Red Demon asked. "From what the king explained they are microbots. Seems he's made himself into an organic machine" Scarab stated as he stared up at the swarm. "So how do we combat the king in that state?" Smiling stared up with confusion. 'I could shrink it?' He thought. "We could trap it with lightning and then fry it?" Red suggested. "Whatever we do, they will replicate and regenerate. If we do anything like destroy them completely we need to centralize them?" She watched as the swarm continuously moved and the center began to solidify with her father sitting upon a throne made of micro bot. The bots around him then started to form a shape of eyes that swirled. Lights flickered and then became blinding.

"What is he doing?" the group stared in silence. From the swirling eyes beams shot out and disintegrated everything that came in its path. The king began to destroy the city one brick at a time. He sat upon his black throne. "I will consume everything in this city and all the knowledge it holds before ascending to the stars" he said to himself staring up at the starry sky. He took a deep breath in and felt the cool air around him making him giddy and all smiles as he outstretched his arms. "I have never felt this good and untethered before!" he then started to laugh to himself.

The swarm moved through the city independently as the bots started to consume the buildings. The big eyes would now and then destroy parts of the city with a beam before the swarm descended upon the wreckage consuming it. They were like locusts that ate through metal and concrete. People began to emerge from some wreckage and panicked running away. They were not spared as the swarm took them and in minutes they were gone. The swarm seemed to also retract back to the main force only to be replaced by a new swarm. The bots that returned seemed to merge with the king. His Soul Core was beginning to fill and his body was rich with chi. He felt himself strengthened with each swarm that would merge with him. He even became bigger and taller. This man was no longer a human, but something else entirely.
