The Vixen's Gambit: Tonight We Hunt

Kallen reluctantly left after receiving news of a Honkai outbreak outside the city.

Lihua smiled as she sent her off, but felt relieved.

Finally, she's gone.

What was with Kallen today? Why did she keep feeding her?

Lihua knew that Kaslanas could eat a lot, but she was just an imitation Kaslana who didn't have a stomach like a bottomless pit!

She had always avoided eating with Kallen, since she always thought Lihua was not eating enough. She'd keep piling food on her plate, saying all Kaslanas ate like that...

She had told Kallen several times she was full, but Kallen just looked at her with increasingly pitiful eyes and ordered more food.

Lihua suspected that Kallen was deliberately messing with her because she wanted to give her gifts to others.

Thank you, Honkai, though you're still a jerk, but at least you saved me from drowning in food...

Oh well, at least I got sponsorship today. It should last the hospital for another six months, and the patients should be able to wait for Otto's cure.

By then, their favorability should be at least level 9. After all, it's the favorability you get from saving their lives!

Otto, because of your incompetence, I had to go through all of that!

Lihua staggered heavily toward the hospital, but she didn't get far before she felt sick.

It wouldn't look good if I threw up in public...

Looking around at the passersby, Lihua felt like she should still care a little bit about her public image. So she walked down a quiet alley, where she could throw up to her heart's content without being seen.

I might lose my head or blood, but never my elegance!

Ever since she left the restaurant, she had felt someone staring at her. Was some punk looking for trouble?

Though she hadn't used energy to enhance herself, she was still half Kaslana. She could easily handle five guys. She hoped no one would be so foolish…

Lihua, lost in thought and not watching where she was going, tripped on the uneven ground and almost fell on her face. Luckily, her basic reflexes worked, so she managed to regain her balance.

But that stumble was the last straw for her stomach.

"Cough--!!"

The overwhelming nausea finally caused Lihua to throw up against the wall. The bright red fluid seemed terrifyingly bloody in the dark alley.

Damn you, Kallen! I should not have drunk so much tomato juice! My hands are starting to feel numb...

"Lihua!!"

A worried cry suddenly came from behind her. Lihua turned around in confusion, still having tomato juice on her face. She felt herself being pulled into someone's embrace.

Whoa, who's this punk?! I'm going to send you flying!!!

Without thinking, Lihua clenched her fist, ready to deliver an uppercut to the arrogant blondie.

But when her fist was about to launch, Lihua suddenly stopped. She realized that the person was familiar.

"Otto?"

Lihua was shocked. The arrogant blondie was Otto?!

Wasn't he supposed to be in his lab thinking about a cure for the Black Death? Why did he have time to harass a lady?

No wonder the cure for the Black Death hasn't been developed yet!

"What are you doing here?"

"That doesn't matter! Why are you suddenly throwing up blood?!"

Lihua was shocked. Otto was indeed different. Just showing up made up for two months of hard work!

"I'm okay, I just ate too much..."

"How would eating too much make you throw up blood?!"

Otto, who had rushed in, was covered in grass and wood shavings. He didn't care about his disheveled appearance. He was anxiously examining Lihua's condition.

"Hey, don't touch me!"

Lihua tried to swat Otto's hand away. She had no interest in letting a man touch her. If it was Kallen, it would be a different story!

Otto's hand stopped moving, but he still gripped Lihua's arm tightly. His eyes were fixed on her bare skin, saying nothing.

Luckily, the Black Death wasn't a serious Honkai virus. She only needed to spend 3,000 energy points to suppress it. It wouldn't be life-threatening, nor contagious.

She could also exchange for a high Honkai resistance, but Lihua decided against it. Otto would soon develop a cure. She didn't need to waste energy on something that was only useful against Honkai.

She had been saving up energy, because many items in the Honkai world were only related to Honkai.

She wanted to see if she could get lucky and open a small shop in the M78 Nebula, the items she got there should be better than what was in the Honkai world...

Otto couldn't believe what he was seeing. Given Lihua's Honkai resistance, she shouldn't have been infected so easily!
