Norman Osborn was now wearing a crumpled suit, looking utterly exhausted, with messy hair, as if he hadn't slept in days. His eyes were weary, resembling those of an elderly man. Based on his current appearance, no one would believe that he was the Green Goblin who had wreaked havoc across the city and killed without remorse.

Facing the judge's inquiry, Osborn remained silent.

Instead, his lawyer stood up.

Dressed in a high-end suit, the lawyer exuded an air of elite.

"Your Honor, my client has a document to submit."

With that, the lawyer handed over a document stamped with an official seal.

"My client, Mr. Norman Osborn, has been diagnosed by the hospital with severe dissociative identity disorder."

"All the incidents were committed by an alternate personality, not by Mr. Osborn's own will."

"He wasn't even aware of what was happening."

As soon as these words were spoken, the courtroom erupted in chaos!

Everyone began to murmur and discuss!

The families of the victimized students wept and loudly accused Osborn of being a fraud.

Even Gwen found it hard to believe.

"How can this be?!"

A sense of unease began to grow in her heart.

The lawyer ignored the commotion and raised his voice, continuing:

"In fact, Mr. Osborn is not a villain but a philanthropist. He has founded schools, dedicated himself to scientific research, and created numerous job opportunities across the United States. He is a man worthy of respect."

"These days, he has also been tormented and persecuted by his alternate personality!"

"Additionally, my client is a vegetarian, an environmentalist, suffers from gender dysphoria, and has a penchant for cross-dressing..."

The lawyer piled over a dozen different "buffs" onto Osborn.

"???" A question mark appeared in everyone's mind.

But what followed was even more unbelievable.

The judge picked up the gavel and struck it, silencing the noisy courtroom.

"Given the medical proof provided by the hospital, this court rules that Mr. Norman Osborn is not guilty. However, based on the fact that his alternate personality has caused significant harm, he will be confined to a medical institution for treatment for the rest of his life."

With that, the trial concluded.

Everyone in the courtroom was stunned!

How could this be???

"This isn't fair! He's the murderer who killed my child!"

The families of the victims cried and shouted!

Clearly, this verdict did not meet their expectations!!

A blood-stained executioner like him was just let off like that?!

Yet no one paid attention to their cries.

"Why is this happening?"

Gwen, with her golden hair, now looked lost. She once again recalled the Punisher's words.

"Peter, why is this happening? The Green Goblin killed so many people, destroyed so many families. Why didn't the law sentence him to death?!"

"Being sent to a medical institution is basically like giving him a retirement plan!!"

This verdict essentially meant Osborn would spend the rest of his life in comfort.

Peter put his arm around Gwen, letting her head rest on his shoulder.

"Gwen, reality often isn't as perfect as it's portrayed in textbooks."

"Osborn is the head of a major corporation, with many interest connection. His death wouldn't serve the interests of those behind him."

Gwen felt indignant, especially after seeing the tears of the victims' families.

The values she had built over her 18 years of life was beginning to show signs of cracking.

Peter sighed.

"I understand how you feel, Gwen."

"But there's nothing we can do about this, right?"

Gwen didn't respond.

She wasn't like ordinary people—she was Spider-Woman.

A few days ago, when the Punisher wanted to kill the Green Goblin, it was she who stepped in to stop him, insisting that they should trust the law and the police.

But now, a heinous criminal like him had received such a lenient punishment.

It was a joke!

Gwen couldn't accept it and even felt a sense of regret.

The Punisher's words seemed to echo in her ears.

"If the law you believe in fails to deliver the punishment the criminal deserves, will you regret stopping me today?"

"If he hurts people again, can you take responsibility for that?"

Gwen's mind was in turmoil.

Just as the Punisher had said, if the Green Goblin were to harm people again, she would undoubtedly bear some responsibility.

"Peter, do you think Spider-Woman made a mistake?"

Peter shook his head.

"Don't punish yourself for someone else's mistakes. You did what you thought was right."

"What happens to the Green Goblin from now on has nothing to do with you."

"However, there is one thing that's true: if evil isn't eradicated, the good will suffer."

Hearing Peter's words, Gwen felt a little better.

"Thank you, Peter."

Gwen lay in Peter's arms, like a gentle little kitten.

Peter, however, was thinking about something else.

Now he was once again hesitating about whether to kill Osborn.

The 20,000 points were indeed tempting, but Peter couldn't decide what to do.

When he was younger, he had visited the Osborn household. Osborn had no airs of being a rich or a successful man. He had even canceled meetings to spend time playing with Harry and Peter.

He was an impeccable good guy.

But the Green Goblin...

He was an out-and-out criminal!

It was like combining Florence Nightingale and Hitler!

One was incredibly good, the other horrifically evil!

Indeed... hesitation was not an option. If he had ignored Gwen's stop a few days ago and just shot the Green Goblin, he wouldn't be so conflicted now.

Just then, the system's voice rang out again.
