The Vice Captain of the WhiteBeard Pirates

Chapter 236: The Buster Call On Ohara

[ Third Person POV ]

Ohara, West Blue (Before Boris' arrival)

Soon after Olvia's capture, Vice-Admiral Jaguar was ordered to perform a Buster Call on Ohara.

However, Vice-Admiral Jaguar, who already had another conversation with Olvia, wasn't too convinced that this action was justified. If what Nico Olvia had said was true, then the people of Ohara were nothing more than mere archeologists. What possible harm could archeologists do to the Marines and the World Government?

However, he didn't want to draw any conclusions without having to see anything for himself. So he had set a course towards Ohara as a result, and it would be there that he would determine for himself what course of action should be taken.

He kept Olvia in the cell for the moment, but he did give her better treatment. They were closing in on the island of Ohara, only to be surprised to find out that there had been a World Government ship that had already docked on the shore of the island.

"That's strange....we didn't get any intel that the World Government would be here," Vice-Admiral Jaguar remarked.

"Maybe the higher-ups had sent them in advance to check the island for Nico Olvia?" A subordinate had asked.

"We'll figure that out.." Vice-Admiral Jaguar commented as the ship slowly stopped on the shores of Ohara.

Vice-Admiral Jaguar went back to the cell and picked Olvia up from her cell before taking her into the town. It was there that Nico Olvia managed to recognize the director of the Ohara Library, Clou D. Clover. He was the man who currently had custody of her only daughter, and he was effectively acting as her teacher in the meantime.

Professor Clover had been arguing with several individuals. The people that he had been arguing with were dressed in uniform-like clothing, and one of them even had a World Government badge adorned on their clothes.

When Vice-Admiral Jaguar and Olvia got closer to them. The arguments got more and more audible.

"What we are doing isn't harming anyone! We have no obligation to hand over our research!" Professor Clover declared.

"Ha! We've been warning you for a long time not to investigate those Poneglyphs, but you keep disobeying our orders regardless! You knew this was coming!" A man who had a black ponytail and a youthful expression glared down at the Professor.

"The truth shall be set free! You all know that this information will come out regardless of who releases that information!" Professor Clover argued.

"It doesn't matter what you believe in about the Poneglyphs when the World Government tells you not to go sniffing around them; you do it," the man remarked.

"Allow me to discuss this with them then," Clover suggested, "I'm sure that you wouldn't mind letting me discuss things with them personally."

He thought about it for a while before pulling out a transponder snail and dialing various sets of numbers. Soon, the other end of the line connected, and a mature voice was heard from the other end.

"Spandine, what's the matter? Have you handled the situation?" The voice of Saint Warcury immediately asked.

"Your holiness, the director of Ohara's library requested an audience from you to explain his defense," the man with the black ponytail, now recognized as Spandine, soon remarked.

"That's fine, let him on the line," Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro's voice immediately popped up from the other end.

"Your holiness, I beg of you to reconsider!" Professor immediately exclaimed, "Our research and discoveries weren't meant to cause any harm to other individuals."

"Although you're not causing harm to anyone, your actions are conflicting with the World Government's interests," Saint Ju Peter's smooth voice echoed from the other line.

"You don't want us to investigate the history of the World because it conflicts with your interests?! Preposterous!! The World Government is meant to establish order! This is tyranny!!" Professor Clover's voice echoed to the other end of the line.

"Watch your mouth, Clover. That alone can earn you an execution for going against the World Government," Spandine warned coldly as he glared down at Clover.

A gunshot suddenly echoed out as Spandine's coat was immediately pierced through with a bullet. Spandine's face contorted from a cold, emotionless expression to that of surprise as he stumbled back from Professor Clover.

"What the-?" Spandine stuttered as he looked for the source of the gunshot.

He finally laid his eyes on Olvia, who had somehow managed to step away from all of the commotion and grab her rifle. She intended to protect Ohara and its residents to her last breath, no matter the cost.

Vice-Admiral Jaguar was surprised; he hadn't been paying attention to what Olvia was doing because he wanted to hear what the Professor had to say for himself.

"Olvia! What the hell are you doing?!" Vice-Admiral Jaguar roared, "Put down that rifle, now!"

It was then that Spandine finally had the opportunity to acknowledge the new arrivals on the island.

"Hm? What brings Vice-Admiral Jaguar here?" Spandine asked.

"Spandine, what's the situation on the island?" Saint Warcury's voice asked quizzically.

"Your Holiness, it appears that a Vice-Admiral has arrived on Ohara," Spandine commented.

"That's good news; he can help you with the other operation should you need assistance," Saint Warcury replied, "though I don't believe that his ship alone will suffice for the effectiveness of the operation."

"Your Holiness! We can't just spend the rest of our lives going on without looking into what has happened in the past! History will repeat itself should we fail to learn from it!" Professor Clover argued.

"History won't repeat itself if you never knew about it, to begin with," Saint Nusjuro interrupted, "your interference isn't helping with our cause."

"Regardless, you've disobeyed our policies for quite some time, and we've tolerated it for a while, but not anymore," Saint Warcury concluded.

"Hence, we'll be confiscating any and all information concerning your findings with the Poneglyphs; cooperate with Spandine here in order to streamline the process," Saint Mars concluded as the other end of the line promptly disconnected.

"Well, you've heard their orders, so please don't resist," Spandine said as he slowly put the transponder snail back into his pocket.

"We won't let you take them! It's taken us years to gather all this information!!" Nico Olvia stated as her grip on her rifle got even stronger.

"Olvia! Violence isn't the answer; just call the Elders again. I'm sure that we can make an agreement with them," Professor Clover pleaded.

"No, you've already been relayed your orders. It's up to you whether you want to follow these orders or not," Spandine refused coldly.

"Professor Clover, it's clear that they aren't going to budge-" Olvia was about to tell Professor Clover to move back when Professor Clover interrupted and kept trying to reason with them.

"Please, just call them one more time, I'm sur-" A gunshot interrupted Clover's words.

Spandine held a smoking pistol as he pointed it right at Clover's head, and Clover could only widen his eyes as blood slowly began dropping down his face. Silence immediately engulfed the area as Clover fell to the ground on his back.

"Professor Clover!!" Nico Olvia cried out.

"It seems that the entire Island of Ohara wishes to resist the orders of the World Government; the punishment of this heinous crime is...." Spandine smiled for the first time since getting there, "The destruction of the entire island of Ohara."
