Chapter 31: Alex's First Wish

Morning Conversations

It was a quiet Sunday morning, with the family enjoying breakfast together. Alex was happily munching on his pancakes, his small legs swinging under the table. Simon sipped his coffee while reading the news on his tablet, and Gigi was busy organizing her schedule for the week.

"Da-da," Alex piped up, his syrup-covered hands reaching for Simon's arm.

Simon looked down, smiling. "What's up, buddy?"

Alex tilted his head, his big, curious eyes sparkling. "I want… vroom-vroom car."

"Vroom-vroom car?" Simon repeated, trying to decipher his son's words.

"A racing car," Gigi clarified, hiding a smile behind her coffee mug. "He's been watching videos of remote-control cars lately."

Simon chuckled. "Is that right, Alex? You want your own racing car?"

Alex nodded eagerly. "Yes! Fast car!"

A Promise

Simon leaned forward, ruffling Alex's hair. "Alright, buddy. If you promise to be good and help Mommy and me around the house, we'll see about getting you a racing car. Deal?"

Alex extended his little hand for a handshake, grinning. "Deal!"

The Big Surprise

Over the next few days, Simon made a point to research the best remote-control cars for kids. He wanted something sturdy and safe but also fast enough to thrill his little boy. By the end of the week, he found the perfect model—a sleek, red remote-control racing car with LED lights and a turbo mode.

On Saturday morning, Simon walked into the living room, holding a wrapped box behind his back.

"Alex," he called out, his tone playful.

Alex came running from his room. "Da-da?"

Simon knelt down, revealing the gift. "This is for you, champ."

Alex's eyes lit up, and he tore into the wrapping paper with Gigi's help. When the racing car was finally revealed, Alex let out an excited squeal.

"Vroom-vroom car!" he shouted, holding it up like a treasure.

Racing Time

Simon and Alex spent the entire afternoon in the backyard, testing out the car. Simon showed Alex how to use the remote, and soon, the little boy was zooming the car around with surprising skill.

"Look, Da-da! Fast!" Alex exclaimed as the car sped past Simon's feet.

"You're a natural, kiddo!" Simon praised, clapping his hands.

Even Gigi joined in, laughing as the car zipped around her legs. The family dog, curious about the new toy, tried to chase it, adding to the fun.

A Proud Dad Moment

As the day wound down, Alex was still clutching the remote, his eyes heavy with sleep but his excitement still bubbling. Simon carried him inside, placing him on the couch.

"You happy, buddy?" Simon asked, brushing Alex's hair out of his face.

Alex yawned, nodding. "Best Da-da ever," he murmured before drifting off to sleep.

A Heartwarming Moment

Simon sat down beside Gigi, who leaned her head on his shoulder.

"You're really spoiling him, you know," she teased, though her smile betrayed her amusement.

Simon shrugged. "He's a good kid. He deserves it. And besides, seeing him happy makes it all worth it."

Gigi kissed his cheek. "You're an amazing dad, Simon."

Simon wrapped an arm around her, watching their son sleep peacefully. "Just doing what I can, love."
