Chapter 37: Chapter 37
Isaiah arrived at a square on the other side of the city and found a bench to sit down on. He took out the small speaker that Ron had given him and turned it on. A soothing melody began to play, and Isaiah felt his entire body relax.
"Hmm... at least that brat had good taste in music"
But at that moment—
"Killer Queen, explode!"
Isaiah's expression changed suddenly, but there was no immediate effect.
When Isaiah lowered the gift, Ron had already instructed Killer Queen to touch Isaiah's clothes, transforming them into the first bomb. Now, Ron was using the second method of explosion.
The person who touches the bomb would explode, and in this case, Isaiah's clothes were being worn by him. This meant that the entire upper half of Isaiah's body had effectively become a bomb.
There was no sound. Then, without warning, it exploded, sending shockwaves radiating outward.
The remains turned to dust and ashes.
"Ah!"
A scream echoed. Ron stood by the window.
"I'm not as easy to talk to as Gon or Kurapika."
He recalled the scenes from the original storyline in the Sky Arena.
"Well, Gon isn't exactly easy to deal with either." In the original story, Gon brutally killed the Cat Woman to avenge Kite, even after she had shown some humanity. And during the Greed Island arc, when faced with the explosive trio who displayed brotherly bonds, Gon chose to let them go.
A month passed.
Ron went to the front desk to apply for a match. If he didn't apply soon, he would miss his chance.
The absorption progress of the crystal ball had already reached eighty per cent. During this time, Ron had watched several matches.
One match featured a competitor against a floor master, but the skill gap was significant. The challenger was defeated in a single move.
"The progress is slower than I initially expected." Ron thought.
"Is it because there are too few fights above the 200th floor? But fights below the 200th floor are meaningless for an observer." Now, on the 200th floor, the crystal ball's progress was almost stagnant.
Ron had another purpose for applying for the match: to push the progress of the crystal ball forward with his fight!
Just as Ron submitted his application, the 200th floor of the Sky Arena buzzed with excitement from multiple competitors.
Due to time constraints, many fighters usually didn't stay in the Sky Arena for long; they had other matters to attend to. However, it was different for the "rookie killers". They were intently focused on the Sky Arena.
Once a newcomer arrived at the 200th floor, they would seize the opportunity like starving hyenas to fight the fresh arrivals, as these matches were often easy points. Multiple competitors stepped forward simultaneously.
"I hope it's me!"
"It has to be me!"
"These free points should belong to me."
Ron didn't mind this too much; he had observed these fighters and knew their abilities weren't very strong, all well within his capabilities to handle.
Two competitors took to the stage.
"Go for it, big brother!" Ron looked into the audience and spotted Kyler and Lena.
At that moment, the host began to introduce the combatants.
"Ron! A genius fighter who has been on a winning streak since arriving at the Sky Arena. After just a dozen matches, he has advanced to the 200th floor. Will Ron continue his success? Let's wait and see!"
"Patrick! With a record of three wins and one loss on the 200th floor, he possesses a unique ability: The Invisible Left Leg! It's incredibly hard to defend against! What kind of performance will he showcase today?"
From the betting situation, it was clear that Patrick had more supporters. After all, Ron was just a newcomer on the 200th floor.
A genius? Many geniuses had reached the 200th floor, but most had failed. Just like Patrick, who was once a genius himself.
The 200th floor was on a completely different level compared to below it.
However, for the competitors below the 200th floor, Ron was still considered an incredibly strong contender. Claude and Krey watched Ron on the screen, filled with dread.
"Thank goodness we didn't take on Ron back then; otherwise, we might already be dead."
"That person who commissioned the hit had ill intentions!"
Shadaos's eyes lit up as he clenched his fists. "I'm so envious. I hope that one day I can stand on a stage like that!" Shadaos had already climbed several floors, reaching the forties. But compared to Ron, he was still far behind.
Upon hearing the host's introduction, Ron raised an eyebrow slightly. On his way to the Sky Arena, he had encountered Shadaos.
Now, this opponent, Patrick, had developed an ability called the Invisible Left Leg, which was eerily similar to Shadaos's Invisible Left Hand—if not identical.
"If there are no surprises, his ability should be the same as Shadaos's. It's just about using aura to take on a certain shape for attacks. However, for someone like me who can condense aura, it means nothing."
"Speaking of which, could Shadaos's ability be a mimicry of Patrick's?"
Finally, the host finished the introductions.
"Begin!"
Patrick looked greedily at Ron. "This opportunity is finally mine. Kid, I won't go easy on you in your first match. I'll make sure you understand the difference between the 200th floor and below it. Prepare for your baptism!"
Patrick recalled his own baptism, a wave of intense hatred surging within him, all directed at Ron. It was as if Ron was his sworn enemy.
"Kid! I will torture you thoroughly! You'll wish for death! You should thank me! Enjoy this!" Patrick wore a crazed expression.
Ron glanced at Patrick indifferently. He had no interest in this fight; Patrick was too weak, much weaker than the D-class butlers he had faced at the Zoldyck family estate.
"What kind of power should I show?" Ron hesitated. Without using the abilities of Killer Queen, he could easily defeat Patrick, relying solely on the fundamentals of Nen. He could hide his abilities.
However, using Killer Queen would be more convenient. He wouldn't even need to make a move himself; Killer Queen could handle the opponent on its own.
After a moment of contemplation, Ron made his decision. "There's no need to hide Killer Queen's existence. My goal isn't to get tangled up with the other competitors. If I wanted to get entangled, I'd have to design my strategies around them.
I just want to stay in the Sky Arena a bit longer."
"As for the competitors with Nen, even if I don't show Killer Queen now, I'd still have to reveal it later if I really face them. Killer Queen doesn't need to hide; it's its abilities that need to be concealed. But for this battle, there's no need."
With a thought, Ron commanded, "Killer Queen."
A pink figure appeared beside Ron.
