Chapter 13: Day 12
The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow across Mason's room. He sat at his desk, a bowl of cereal in front of him.
"9 AM," he thought, glancing at the clock. "Another day."
Mason ate in silence, the sound of his spoon clinking against the bowl the only noise in the room.
"I used to hate eating alone," he realized. "But now… it's kind of peaceful."
He finished his cereal and set the bowl aside, ready to start the day.
Mason opened his notebook and reviewed his daily grind:
Gym: 1 hour
Studying: 2 hours (Programming, Business, Trading)
Writing: 1 hour
Content Creation: 1 hour
"Let's do this," he muttered, grabbing his gym bag.
The gym was quiet at this hour. Mason started with a warm-up on the treadmill, then moved to the weights.
"One rep at a time," he told himself. "One day at a time."
After the gym, Mason sat at his desk and opened his laptop.
Programming:
He worked through a Python tutorial, focusing on loops and functions.
"This is actually kind of fun," he thought, surprised by how much he was enjoying it.
Business:
Next, he read an article about affiliate marketing, jotting down ideas for potential niches.
"Tech products? Fitness gear? Maybe both?"
Trading:
Finally, he opened his trading account. He'd set aside $10 to start—a small amount, but enough to learn the basics.
"Let's see how this goes," he thought, placing his first trade.
The trade didn't go as planned. Within minutes, he'd lost $2.
"Well, that sucks," he muttered.
But then he remembered something he'd read: "Losses are lessons. If you learn from them, they're not really losses."
He opened a new tab and started researching what went wrong.
"I need to learn more," he realized. "I need to be better."
After studying, Mason turned to his writing.
Writing:
He opened the document for his novel, 100 Different Lives: POV, and started a new chapter.
"This one's about a guy who lost everything but found himself in the process," he thought, typing away.
Content Creation:
Next, he opened TikTok and filmed a short video about his morning routine.
"Day 12 of the grind. Gym, studying, writing, and trading. It's not easy, but it's worth it. Remember, losses are lessons. Keep going."
He uploaded the video and checked the stats from his previous posts.
"Not many views, but that's okay. I'm just starting."
By the time Mason finished his grind, the house was alive with activity. His mom was in the kitchen, his dad was watching TV, and Alex was in the living room with his girlfriend, Sarah.
"Family time," Mason thought, feeling a mix of dread and curiosity.
Dinner was… interesting.
Sarah was there again, laughing at Alex's jokes and sharing stories about their weekend.
"So, Mason," she said, turning to him. "Alex says you're into trading now. How's that going?"
Mason hesitated. "Uh, it's… a work in progress. I lost $2 today."
Sarah smiled. "That's not bad for a beginner. Just keep learning."
Mason nodded, surprised by her encouragement.
After dinner, Mason went back to his room and sat at his desk.
"If I don't make opportunities now, I'm never going to get them back," he realized.
He thought about the years he'd wasted—hiding in his room, avoiding responsibility, and numbing himself with distractions.
"I can't change the past," he thought. "But I can change the future."
As Mason lay in bed that night, he reflected on the day.
"I lost $2, but I learned something. I wrote a new chapter. I posted a video. And I survived dinner with Sarah."
It wasn't a perfect day, but it was progress.
"The New Me is still here," he thought. "And I'm not giving up."
The chapter ends with Mason reflecting on his journey so far and looking ahead to the future. He's still uncertain, but he's determined to keep moving forward.
