Chapter 59
“Sir Tan… We still need to examine the Miss’ health.”
Ella opened her mouth, watching Tan’s expression as he continued to hold Sellonia.
Tan lowered his red eyes filled with indescribable emotions and looked at Sellonia’s face.
She was asleep, yet her complexion was still not good.
Her face, which was already as white as milk, had become even paler, and her lips, which were always fresh and red like apples, had become ashen.
Yes. Ella was right. Her health examination was the first priority.
Tan handed Sellonia over to Raymond, who was standing in front of him.
As if he had been waiting, Raymond mercilessly snatched Sellonia from Tan and held her in his arms.
“Come on up, Your Grace.”
Raymond, Galloway, Ella, and the servants all rushed up the stairs.
The warmth that had filled Tan’s arms just a moment ago disappeared as if it had never existed due to the cold air that filled the mansion. Beyond regret, his heart felt like it had a hole in it.
Nevertheless, Tan followed them up the stairs. He wanted to be by their side because he was worried.
“Your Grace!”
The doctors who received the call hurriedly entered Sellonia’s room.
Everyone followed him, their faces filled with worry.
Just as Tan was about to enter the familiar room.
Bam.
The door closed before his eyes. As if he couldn’t take even one step into that room.
“…”
A chilling silence lingered in the hallway.
Tan stared blankly at the door blocking him.
It was just a door. He could just break it down and open it.
Yet why is this…
“Annoying.”
A voice that had sunk sharply and ominously came out of his mouth.
Tan looked at the door in front of him with a cold expression, his red eyes having turned cloudy. His chest burned like boiling lava. His vision kept turning pitch black.
Blue veins bulged out on the back of his clenched fist.
A desire to get rid of everything that was bothering him rose up.
“Sir Tan.”
That was it.
The closed door opened and Ella poked her head out.
Tan looked down at Ella with indifferent, dark eyes.
“I apologize. Don’t worry, go to your room. I’ll call you back as soon as everyone else leaves.”
Ella saw Tan, who seemed different than usual, yet was flustered, so she simply apologized and went back into the room.
Tan, who was left alone again, slowly blinked. His pupils were as red as usual.
His tightly clenched fist slowly released. Since she had said she would call him, he had no intention of disturbing Sellonia’s sleep.
[When you’re apart, you worry, when you’re together, you feel sad when you break up, and when you’re next to me, you want to touch me! If that’s not love, then what is it?]
As Tan turned away, Maxwell’s words rang in his ears.
It was the answer that unified the series of emotions he had felt so far.

“What time is it?”
Sellonia got up, feeling much lighter and more refreshed than before.
Tan was next to the bed. Moreover, judging from how dark her surroundings were, it seemed like night had come because she had been sleeping until now.
“It’s past midnight.”
“Huh? Are you okay? Are you in pain?”
Sellonia, surprised by the words that it was past midnight, quickly reached out her hand. Her hand grabbed Tan’s large hand.
Tan lowered his head at the warmth that enveloped his hand and stared blankly at Sellonia’s hand. Even though the doctor and the healer had visited and the results of the examination showed that she had simply fallen asleep, Tan couldn’t enter this room.
It was only when the sun had set and everyone was asleep that he was able to enter this room again by teleportation instead of the door.
Because of that, this feeling that had sunk like a beggar, this boiling heart, melted away like snow at the fact that she was worried about him as soon as she opened her eyes.
Funny enough.
Tan slowly pulled up Sellonia’s hand, which was holding his hand, while swallowing his emotions that had become clearer than ever.
He slowly stroked her soft hand with his thumb as if he was going to brush it, then lowered his head. His lips touched the hollow inside of her palm.
“…”
Sellonia, surprised by the sudden, warm sensation spreading through her hand, forgot to breathe and looked at Tan.
Then she saw that his red eyes, filled with earnest desire, were only looking at her.
Tan looked into her blue eyes and thought.
I won’t worry about who I am anymore. Because my desire to monopolize the present Sellonia was greater than my desire to know the ‘me’ of the past.
Because I like her.

The next day.
Sellonia was sitting on the living room sofa with Gillian across from her.
Today was the day Gillian periodically reported information about Grace.
“How is your body feeling?”
Gillian asked about her health after hearing the news from yesterday.
“I guess I was very tired. I felt better after sleeping well and waking up.”
“That’s a relief.”
Sellonia smiled and looked through the documents Gillian had handed her.
The documents contained the latest information and recent trends about Grace.
Just like the other day, there was nothing particularly unusual this time. It was so clean that it made her wonder if a person could be this clean.
‘Are you going to keep lying to me?’
Since she had gotten one step closer to the truth yesterday, she wanted to beat up Gillian’s shameless and annoying face right away.
Yet she held it in. He might have been hurt by Grace without knowing it.
So she’ll get some evidence first and make sure to stop him.
“M-Miss! Breaking news!”
That’s when Ella shouted in a loud voice, clearing the hallway.
Gillian glanced at Sellonia with indifferent eyes.
“Hahaha. You must be in a hurry.”
Sheordered her to come in with a flustered expression.
Ella opened the door and ran in, stomping her feet as if she had forgotten that Gillian was behind her.
“Miss, Miss! I found the book you were looking for!”
“What? How?”
Sellonia, surprised, jumped up from her seat.
She then pretended to look at Ella and slightly lowered her gaze to look at Gillian sitting on the sofa.
She caught a strange twitching in his eyes.
“I kept looking around, but a certain store owner said he definitely saw it in his store and that he would find it by tomorrow morning.”
“Really? Where is that?”
“At the very end of the Magic District, it’s called Blo…”
Ella moved her lips urgently, then noticed Gillian and trailed off, glancing at him.
“Ah, Gillian. You can go now.”
Sellonia gave Gillian a surprise order, as if she hadn’t thought of it.
“Yes. Then, if I find anything unusual in the middle, I’ll report it to you right away.”
Gillian got up from his seat and moved his legs toward the door.
When Gillian reached the door with noticeably slower steps than before and turned the handle, Ella opened her mouth again and whispered.
“It’s a store called Blorence.”
Clack.
The door closed and Gillian left the reception room.
“…”
“…”
Sellonia and Ella held their breaths and waited for Gillian’s footsteps to fade away.
Click, clack
. The steady sound of footsteps gradually moved away from the living room and could no longer be heard.
The two nodded while looking into each other’s eyes.
The planned trap was set. Now all that was left was for the prey to be caught.
