The God of Ice and Fire at Hogwarts

Chapter 160: Newt Scamander

During the following week, Lynn accompanied Green every day to Knockturn Alley, searching for a solitary dark wizard to cast the Unforgivable Curse.

Since Lynn's frequency of casting the Unforgivable Curse had reduced to once per day, and with the help of the Pure Heart and Patronus charms, it could be said that the negative emotional impact of the Unforgivable Curse on Lynn was now infinitesimally close to zero.

Aside from the opportunity to practice the Unforgivable Curse once a day, Lynn spent most of his time studying Green's alchemy book and experiment notes.

On August 1st, Lynn had finally gone through the two books and reached the threshold of learning the method for refining Pure Heart.

Unlike his previous experience with alchemy, where Lynn mainly refined offensive or defensive alchemical products to directly enhance a wizard's power, this time, he sought to learn about Pure Heart, an emotion that could affect a wizard's mind and even soul. The difficulty of refining Pure Heart did not lie in the type of alchemical product but in how alchemy could influence such mysterious and profound concepts as emotions, the mind, and the soul.

"Master, I've finished reading these two books," Lynn said quietly, returning the books to Green.

Green smiled and nodded, placing one hand on Lynn's shoulder while using the other to open a nearby door.

As the magical wave quickly passed, Lynn found himself and Green appearing in another small space.

This small space was the same as the underground training area in Green's house, a special space created through alchemy.

This space was much smaller than the training area, with walls, floors, and ceilings made of silvery white metal. In front of them, many alchemical tools were neatly arranged.

Clearly, this was Green's alchemical laboratory.

After bringing Lynn here, Green began explaining the key points of refining alchemical products like Pure Heart.

If it were only refining the Pure Heart, Lynn would have already learned it by studying Green's experiment notes. But now, Green's teachings allowed Lynn to use the Pure Heart as a starting point, learning by analogy how to refine an alchemical circle capable of affecting the emotions, mind, and even the soul of a wizard.

As Lynn followed Green's steps and began attempting the alchemy process, he was surprised to find that the alchemical runes and circles capable of affecting a wizard's mind were the same as the alchemical runes and circles he had obtained from the Mirror of Erised last year. While the magical circles had different focuses, they shared the same ultimate purpose.

Thinking about how the Mirror of Erised worked by absorbing and manifesting what a wizard desired most, Lynn felt relieved.

"The Mirror of Erised can absorb a wizard's greatest desire and manifest it. Dark magic, however, can influence a wizard's mind, making them addicted and eventually leading them to make great mistakes. If these two elements could combine, could I not refine an alchemical circle that creates an illusion to trap wizards in addiction?" Lynn thought to himself.

When it came to artifacts that could create illusions, causing people to become trapped within them, Lynn's mind immediately went to the Resurrection Stone, one of the three Deathly Hallows.

It was rumored that the Resurrection Stone could bring the dead back to life, but in reality, what it did was present only an illusion of them.

Not only that, the illusion presented by the Resurrection Stone would not satisfy the user; it would instead cause them to become addicted to it, even driving them to suicide in the hope of joining the deceased.

After learning about alchemy related to products like Pure Heart, which could affect emotions, the mind, and the soul, and combining it with the alchemical samples from the Mirror of Erised, Lynn felt confident he could create the prototype for such an illusion.

If he could examine the Deathly Hallows, like the Resurrection Stone, Lynn was even certain he could create a truly fatal illusion that would lead people to their deaths.

While Lynn was immersed in his alchemical experiments...

In Scotland, outside Hogwarts Castle, a loud knock echoed from the door of Hagrid's hut.

Hagrid opened the wooden door.

"You're here so early, Irina!" Hagrid smiled as he greeted the girl with snow-white hair and ice-blue eyes standing at his door.

Irina nodded obediently, giving a small smile. "I took the first Hogwarts Express to the school early this morning. After all, we are visiting the old man, and we couldn't keep him waiting."

Hagrid glanced at the sun shining outside the door.

Considering the speed at which the Hogwarts Express departs at eleven in the morning on the first day of classes, arriving in the afternoon, Irina must have boarded the train around five or six in the morning.

"Yes, yes, we want to visit Mr. Scamander, but we can't have him waiting too long!" Hagrid laughed, wiping sweat from his brow.

The elderly person Irina and Hagrid had planned to visit during the summer holiday was none other than Mr. Newt Scamander, the famous British magical zoologist.

As the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a textbook about magical creatures, Newt Scamander was famous not only in the UK but worldwide in the magical community.

When he resisted the first-generation Dark Lord, Gellert Grindelwald, Newt Scamander had played a significant role!

Of course, not all the Ministries of Magic were friendly toward Mr. Scamander. For instance, the American Magical Congress did not look kindly on him.

Hagrid went back into the hut to pack the things they would need for the meeting before heading back outside and closing the door behind him.

Looking at little Irina beside him, Hagrid said, "Mr. Scamander lives in Dorset now. I think we'll need to take the Knight Bus to get there!"

Upon hearing this, Irina's face turned pale.

Although she had never personally traveled on the Knight Bus, its "dangerous" nature was well known to all, and she did not want to end up vomiting everything she had eaten earlier in the day!

But of course, she couldn't change Hagrid's plan.

After following Hagrid out of Hogwarts, Irina raised her wand high on the road.

In the next second, there was a deafening "boom," a brilliant light flashed, and a three-story purple bus suddenly stopped in front of Irina and Hagrid.
