The God of Ice and Fire at Hogwarts

Chapter 159: Expecto patronum

"Master, may I learn the method of refining Pure Heart?" Lynn asked.

Green nodded slightly and said, "Yes, I'll teach you the method of refining Pure Heart before taking you to the master's residence. But before that, I must teach you a new spell, one to protect against the dark arts."

"The function of the Pure Heart is to force you to calm down, but it cannot guide your heart to be good. However, the Patronus Charm can do that. Casting the Patronus Charm consistently throughout the year can help condense happy emotions and make you more joyful and positive."

Green introduced Lynn to the Patronus Charm.

Lynn immediately understood the importance of the Patronus Charm and expressed his willingness to learn it.

Then, Green began to explain the theoretical knowledge behind the Patronus Charm.

Green tapped his wand on a metal disk beside the sofa. The next moment, the theoretical knowledge related to the Patronus Charm was projected onto the wall not far from an alchemical device.

It seemed Green was also a professor who liked using magical presentations to teach!

"Usually, only witches and wizards with pure hearts can cast the Patronus Charm. If a Dark Wizard with an evil heart tries to cast it, instead of summoning a Patronus, the wand will backfire and summon dark creatures to devour. In the magical world, it is commonly believed that the 'standard of good and evil' is defined by whether a wizard has used Dark Magic, but I find that ridiculous."

"In my research, I've found that a wizard— even one who has committed evil acts— can still successfully cast a Patronus as long as they have a trace of goodness left in their heart and hope for the beauty of the world. Only a Dark Wizard whose heart is completely consumed by evil, and whose sanity is destroyed by the violence of Dark Magic, will be attacked by the Patronus."

After describing the principles of the Patronus Charm, Green said this.

Lynn held a notebook in his hand and quickly recorded everything Green had said.

Lynn completely agreed with Green's views.

Even someone like Umbridge, a twisted, dark-hearted woman, could cast a Patronus. How much more possible it was for wizards who had only used a little Dark Magic but still had light in their hearts?

If Umbridge is considered a righteous witch, then Lynn would just say, "You'd rather believe that than believe I'm a descendant of Merlin!"

Soon, Green taught Lynn the incantations and techniques for casting the Patronus Charm.

"Expecto Patronum!" Lynn tried reciting the incantation and waved his wand.

A wisp of silver mist so faint it was almost invisible floated from his wand and then dissipated into the air.

"As I told you earlier, focus on remembering the happiest things in your heart and then channel your happiest emotions into the wand along with your magical power!" Green said.

Lynn nodded slightly and began to remember the moments when he felt happiness.

Well, what were happy moments?

In his previous life, he had been struggling at the bottom of society, until the flames burned him alive while he was saving others. There should be no happy memories left...

What about this life...?

Receiving his acceptance letter to Hogwarts? Becoming a professor under Professor Green and crossing the threshold of becoming an alchemist? Acquiring the Philosopher's Stone, with nearly infinite power?

An image appeared in Lynn's mind. A rich silver mist flew from the tip of his wand. The silver mist intertwined closely, illuminating the entire room brightly.

What else...

Confessing his identity as a reincarnator and having a soulmate from the same hometown as him in this world?

As Lynn recalled, the silver light emitted by his wand became even more dazzling.

In that moment, a beautiful image appeared in Lynn's mind.

The warm sunlight fell on the girl's snowy-white hair. In the small tea house, the girl shyly lowered her head and took a sip from the steaming cup of tea...

The surrounding decorations, filled with feminine charm, enhanced the atmosphere of the tea house. Couples passionately kissing at nearby tables made the originally dark tea house warm and bright.

Time seemed to freeze in that moment, and no one disturbed the beautiful tranquility.

The dazzling silver light gradually condensed in one direction, slowly forming the shape of an animal.

Soon, the excess light dissipated, and a crystalline silver wolf appeared in the small room.

This was a silver wolf transformed from a Patronus. The silver wolf approached Lynn gently and rubbed its head softly against Lynn's arm.

Lynn couldn't help but smile when he saw the silver wolf with a soft white-silver light all over its body.

He gently stroked the soft fur of the Silver Wolf, and the violent emotion in his dark red eyes dissipated like smoke, replaced by infinite tenderness.

"This is incredible, Lynn! You've cast the Patronus Charm for the first time and actually summoned a physical Patronus! Is this a wolf?!" Green looked at Lynn in surprise.

A smile appeared on Lynn's lips as he gently said, "Yes, Master, it's a wolf!"

After raising his hand to return the silver wolf to his side, Lynn asked, "Now that I've learned the Patronus Charm, Master, can I learn how to refine Pure Heart?"

Green nodded with a smile and said, "Of course, my student! But in the following days, you'll need to practice the Patronus Charm every day. I don't expect you to master the silent, wandless casting of the Patronus Charm in a short time, but at least you should be able to cast it silently before the classes start. It would be even better if you could cast it without a wand!"

Lynn naturally agreed to the task assigned by Green.

Green handed Lynn a notebook that was not too thick and said, "This is the notebook I used to record the alchemical experiment data when I was researching and inventing Pure Heart. It also recorded my process and some failures when refining Pure Heart. In addition to successful data, it also contains my research ideas for refining Pure Heart."

Lynn took the notebook as if it were a treasure, but when he refocused on Green, he discovered that Green once again had a thick book in hand.

"This alchemy book records all the alchemical runes used for refining Pure Heart, as well as some of the prototypes for the alchemical formations associated with them. Wait until you've thoroughly read this alchemy book and my experimental notes. After that, you can come to me to learn the techniques for refining Pure Heart."

Green continued smiling.

Lynn's body stiffened a little as he took the book, which was thicker than the combined textbooks of all the courses in his Hogwarts year.

For some reason, he suddenly felt that Green's smile had become terrifying...
