Chapter 149: You turned around and eloped with Lynn
"So, you told me that Lockhart became like this because the Forgetfulness Charm he cast on you was reflected by the defensive alchemy weapon in your body, and the burned office was caused by you casting it when you resisted. Was it due to the out-of-control magical flame?"
In the headmaster's office, Dumbledore looked at Lynn with suspicion.
If Lynn's magical flames had gone out of control, Dumbledore didn't believe it at all. After all, with Lynn's extreme affinity for flames, even if the flames swept through the entire office, as long as Lynn was willing, the office would have remained unscathed.
However, the video in the two-way mirror that Irina had provided abruptly stopped when Lockhart was casting a curse on Lynn. What happened afterward in the office did not appear at all.
This forced Dumbledore to believe that Lynn was involved in something sinister.
Facing Dumbledore's doubts, Lynn calmly nodded, confirming that what he said was true.
"Well, since Lockhart is a deceptive man, naturally, he can't hold a professor's position at Hogwarts School" Dumbledore said, rubbing his temples helplessly.
Dumbledore glanced at Lockhart, who was not far off, his face covered with snot and saliva, still muttering "Makabaka" and "Waibibab," and couldn't help but feel a little exhausted.
He had just dealt with the basilisk situation, and now something had happened to his professor. Where could he go to reason with this?
Dumbledore looked at Lynn and Irina, who seemed sincere and honest in front of him, and said, "It seems I have to draft a recruitment announcement and post it in The Daily Prophet. We need a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. Goodness, this subject really wears out its professors quickly, doesn't it?"
Lynn didn't say anything, just shrugged.
"You have no idea why professors in this course are burning out so quickly, do you?" he thought mentally.
No good teacher is willing to come back for a second year, and no good teacher wants to stay here long-term.
Ahem, except for a certain big bat.
Lynn thought to himself.
"Well, since there's nothing more to discuss, Irina and I will head back first! After all, the final exams are in two days, and we need to review thoroughly!"
Lynn took Irina's hand and, after saying this, walked out of the headmaster's office without looking back.
Once the Lockhart issue was resolved, they would start preparing for the upcoming final exams.
Although their grades were excellent, so much so that they didn't need to review, they still had to cram for a class like History of Magic, which they had never taken seriously.
Improving combat skills would be a waste of time, right?
Moreover, with their temporary memory, they could still score an "O" for Outstanding, which represented excellence!
"I need a room to study."
Lynn and Irina walked back and forth three times outside the Room of Requirement, holding their History of Magic textbook.
After opening the wooden door to the Room of Requirement, Lynn and Irina entered a study room.
Originally, Lynn had planned to review in their dormitory, but after Irina experienced these recent events, she had become accustomed to working with him, so she invited him to use the Room of Requirement to study together.
Lynn naturally agreed happily.
"I always improvise, improvise..."
In the study room, Irina hummed a song while flipping through the History of Magic textbook in her hands.
Lynn said helplessly, "Irina, you're singing and reading at the same time. Can you really focus on it?"
Irina replied, somewhat unconvinced, "If I remember correctly, you were also an arts student in your previous life, right? All of History of Magic is just a small part. Can it be compared to those history books we had to memorize before? It's nothing difficult! That's the good part!"
Lynn thought for a moment and felt it was true.
History of Magic is not like those history books where every political, economic, and cultural detail must be written out.
History of Magic isn't so much a comprehensive history book but more like a chronicle of important historical events. Only major events, like the Goblin Rebellion and the Wizarding World War, are recorded in History of Magic.
As for who was the Minister of Magic in which country during a specific time, that's not something the young wizard needs to learn at all.
Soon, the end-of-year final exams began.
Since Lynn and Irina had eliminated the basilisk over three weeks ago, Hogwarts did not cancel the exams as in the original book, and all the exams proceeded as usual.
This, in fact, caused many young wizards to cry all over the place.
In a tense and depressing atmosphere, the week of exams passed, and what followed was the young wizards' carnival.
They still had a few days of celebration at the castle before the end-of-year feast.
During these days, Lynn and Irina went to Hogsmeade village almost every day to hang out and have tea.
On the few days they didn't go, it was because Lynn had obtained new alchemy materials in Hogsmeade and needed to test them in the dormitory, or because Harry and the others took Irina to the Gryffindor common room.
The carnival always comes to an end, and the end-of-year feast arrived.
The young wizards of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had arrived in the auditorium, and the professors had already taken their seats at the professors' table.
Dumbledore stood up and announced the points for each house: Slytherin came in first, Ravenclaw second, Gryffindor third, and Hufflepuff last.
This year, Harry and the others didn't lose hundreds of points at once like last year. Along with the tireless efforts of Irina and Hermione, Gryffindor's original points finally surpassed the daily average of Hufflepuff's "rotten badgers."
"Next, we have a few announcements!"
Dumbledore did not immediately announce the winner of the House Cup but continued.
Thus, in front of all the students, Dumbledore added two hundred points to both Lynn and Irina.
Although adding points to both sides at once effectively meant no extra points and couldn't push Gryffindor ahead of Slytherin, at least Gryffindor's ranking rose one spot, surpassing Ravenclaw's Eagles.
At the same time, the young wizards, who had only known that the basilisk had been eliminated but didn't understand the full details of the matter, also learned about the heroic feats of Lynn and Irina, who had teamed up to kill the basilisk.
As a result, these honored young wizards now regarded Lynn and Irina as the patron saints of Hogwarts.
This made Lynn and Irina instantly popular in the castle. Their popularity even surpassed Harry's, who was referred to as the savior.
Of course, Lynn and Irina were so embarrassed by this that they wanted to create a two-bedroom apartment.
Moreover, Harry also complained to Irina afterward. He had clearly agreed to take him to find the secret room, but in the end, she turned around and went with Lynn.
This made Irina blush a little.
