Ian Maverick is an ordinary late-adolescence boy living in the Eclipse era. Born into a struggling household in Auriasia, he grew up witnessing the vast disparity between the powerful Eclipse elites and the powerless non-Eclipse.

Unlike those from privileged backgrounds who awakened early with the help of Eclipse Essence which is a rare and astronomically expensive stimulant. Ian could only rely on his natural luck. Wealthy Legacy Clans spent vast resources cultivating their descendants from childhood, ensuring their family's continued dominance. But Ian had no such luxury.

This year was his final chance. If he failed to awaken, he would be forced to abandon his dream and pursue a career in the technological sector which is one of the highest-paying fields in this era. However, to Ian, becoming an Eclipse was not just a path to wealth; it was his passion, the very thing that gave his life meaning. The mere thought of giving it up filled him with despair.

To fund his efforts, Ian took a job at a monster carcass processing factory which is one of the most efficient ways to earn both money and experience. By dissecting creatures slain by Eclipse, he gained valuable knowledge about their anatomy, weaknesses, and how to take them down. If he ever awakened, he wanted to be prepared. The pay was decent, but the real benefit was the exposure.

Thanks to years of helping in his parents' slaughterhouse, Ian's knife skills were exceptional, surpassing even seasoned workers at the factory. His precision caught the attention of numerous Eclipse, leading to private job offers as a personal dissector. This role allowed him to accompany awakened hunters into the portals which was an opportunity normally forbidden to non-Eclipse.

For Ian, stepping into a portal was more than just work but it was exhilarating. He wasn't just cutting up corpses in a factory; he was witnessing real battles, studying the creatures up close, and experiencing firsthand the world he desperately longed to be a part of.
