Chapter 69: Respect
"You will train Alvah for the remaining months he will spend here".
"If you are hungry, there is more food on the table, he looked at the door on the floor. Do the needful".
She looked at the food which laid on the floor and sighed lightly.
The old sage walked out of the room, he thought Alvah had gone to sleep but he didn't. Alvah looked at him, "where is she?" he asked looking to his direction but realized that he needed an answer from him.
"I wasn't hungry". he replied looking down. "Why did you come out then?"
"Nothing".
"I'm going to bed, good night Alvah". Mmh, he nodded slightly.
After some minutes, Vida came out to eat. She walked into the dining room, there she saw Alvah seated. He looked at her while she looked at him.
She walked back to her room and closed the door.
He stood up and left to his room saying to himself, " maybe my presence will disturb her", he assumed.
The next day, Old sage came out of his room, he walked to the dining room, he saw the food on the table. He was provoked.
He went to her room and opened the door, she wasn't there.
When he came out of the room, he saw Alvah coming out of his room.
"Where is she", he asked with a glint of anger.
" I don't know, greetings". He replied.
" And to you too", when he turned around to leave, he saw her coming out of her room.
"Where were you?". "I was in my room, at the balcony".
Clearing his throat he asked, "Did you eat last night?"
She thought Alvah had cleared the food before he left, so she lied, "Yes".
"What's on the dining table?". She looked at Alvah and rolled her eyes.
" Do you know how much you've wasted, I prepared much for your visit, you didn't even get to eat the food I prepared for you".
" It's okay grandpa, I will send more for you if you think that was a lost".
"I don't think it was a lost, I know it was a lost". He was losing his cool.
Alvah didn't like the moment so he intended to leave. The Old sage stopped him looking him in the eye, "don't leave", shifting his gaze to her,
"she'll take you to your training ground".
"Take your student there", he said to her walking into the kitchen.
She looked at her grandfather walk away, she was waiting patiently for him to leave, when he was out of sight, she flames Alvah's arm.
Alvah's eyes widened, he was left agape, he looked at his arm.
She glared at him and walked away, " get it treated and meet me at the back of the house ".
Alvah healed himself slowly, deliberately wasting time but wrapped a bandage around his fake injured arm.
Few minutes later, he met her at the back of the house. When she saw him, she stood up from where she sat, "follow me", she ordered.
He left with her, they both travelled a short distance from the house till they got to an open space where the air pressure was high enough to aide Alvah.
Old sage told her to take Alvah for training in that area but she herself didn't know why.
They both arrived safely. She walked a few distance away from him standing opposite him
"We didn't get to do some introduction when we met, you go first".
In a flat tone he spoke, "I'm Alvah, old sage's student".
She didn't at all like his introduction, as there was no much information involved.
She asked narrowing her brows "Why do you address him as old sage?".
"I don't know", he lied easily.
She sighed, " I know grandpa reads a lot, he hoards books from our library but that doesn't mean he is a sage'.
"Anyways, I'm vida, your teachers granddaughter, last grand child. I have an older brother, and I'm 21 years old".
"21", he repeated.
"How old are you?", she asked him.
"I'm 22, should I mentor you?". He asked, teasing her.
" What do you mean, just because I'm younger does not mean I have no experience. Besides it's just a year, if wouldn't kill you if I teach you".
"It wouldn't, but you will show me some respect". He sounded serious.
"Why should I?", she asked crossing her arms
"I will make you to respect me", he said.
"How dare you?, she shouted. I will not respect you, I am your teacher, you will respect me".
Alvah became furious.
Her expression changed. " You just changed my mood right now, no practice today".
She walked away leaving him there.
When she got home, she opened the door widely, old sage shivered, looking at her, he asked
" why are you home now?, where is Alvah?".
When he got no reply, his curiousness died off, he went back to what he was doing
"Did you recommend me to him because...."
"Because what?", he asked in defense looking her in the eye
"Nothing", she left to her room.
Alvah came back in the evening. " Where were you?", old sage sounded worried.
"The environment is air friendly, I did a bit if instillation".
"Good Alvah, but what happened between you and vida?".
"You never told me I was older". He didn't mind telling what happened. "You're older, how many years?'.
"Just one". "Phew, did she get angry just because you are older?".
"Kind of". He replied.
" I just want you to train with her and get over with it, you should go back home before the year ends".
"I know", he said in agreement.
In the room, Vida was still pacing up and down, she didn't want to believe what she felt today, " I would confirm it by tomorrow."
she said to no one.
The next day,
"You are older than me, does that mean that I can't mentor you?". she asked.
" Let's end this, I was told by old sage that I would have a mentor, unknown to me it is his granddaughter".
"He mentored the one who mentored you, that was mentored by him, I'll be your student".
She smiled. "We should've done this yesterday".
" I didn't like your introduction, you didn't have much to say".
"I'm an infernal". He said having eye contact with her.
She paused in her action.
" That's what you wanted to hear. You sensed it yesterday didn't you? ".
"Yes I did. And I know", she walked and sat comfortably on a log which laid beside her.
" The only reason why you said you will make me to respect you is because in the process of respecting you, I'll respect my grandpa, isn't it? ".
"Why are you in conflict with you grandfather in the first place?" he asked curiously.
" Well, it's family issues, I don't know if I should tell you, I wouldn't. But I'm not disrespecting him".
"Let's talk about you, why did you choose to reduce your aura as an infernal ".
" Although, it's reduced to some limit, one could still sense it, but it's even more faint today. You came to grandpa to help you with that, didn't you?"
" Why do you not want to learn from your grand father, he's a great mentor after all".
"Perhaps, you are doing it for someone, or you just want to have control over it, is it overwhelming?"
"Why do you choose to give the one who he trained the praise instead of him?".
" If we keep asking each other questions like this, we wouldn't know a thing about each other". she said conclusively.
He replied. "I never planned to tell you anything about myself".
