Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Sabotage

The alchemy classroom in the old chapel was a place of wonder and mystery since the lessons began. Shelves were lined on the walls, filled with ancient tomes, vials of shimmering liquids, and artifacts from distant realms. The air was thick with the scent of herbs, and the soft glow of enchanted lanterns cast a warm light over the room as always.

Matilda, Tori, Zenid,Keisha, and Equestria took their seats, joining other chosen students from different houses. The room buzzed with excitement as Professor Thorne walked into the classroom, looking as cold and elegant as ever with her silver hair and piercing blue eyes.

"Students," she began, her voice commanding yet kind, her greetings never go beyond that. "Today, we delve into the ancient art of alchemy-a discipline that bridges the gap between science and magic."

All the students sat up straight as they listened intently as Professor Thorne explained the principles of alchemy, focusing on the element of earth. "Earth represents stability and growth I'm sure we all know that, if you don't then this class won't accommodate you much longer," she said. " Continuing it is the foundation upon which all life is built."

"are we together?"

The classroom echoed with all the students saying yes.

As the lesson progressed, the girls and all other students were given an experiment to perform. They were to create a potion using earth-based ingredients, designed to enhance the growth of plants.

How hard could it be?

.....

While the students worked, Professor Thorne stepped to the back of the room, speaking in hushed tones with an unknown figure. Keisha's ears perked up as she caught snippets of their conversation in Scottish Gaelic.

How is she able to speak in that language? "she thought.

:" Tha mi airson an denchainn seo a mhilleadh,"Professor Thorne said." Feumaidh sinn dèanamh cinnteach nach soirbhich leis na nigheanan."

Kiesha's heart raced. She nudged Matilda "Did you hear that? She's planning to sabotage our experiment."

Matilda frowned. "But why?"

Equestria who had been listening as well, whispered, "We need to figure out what's wrong with the experiment."

"you know better than us, so please help us figure it out" Kiesha said looking at Equestria with worry plastered on her face.

Focusing on their work, the girls noticed something odd. The potion's color was off, and it emitted a strange odor. Zenid, with her keen sense of smell, identified the problem. "There's an ingredient missing," she said. "Without it, the potion will fail." The girls looked at each trying to figure out which herb it was...

Equestria with her extensive knowledge of herbs, quickly identified the missing ingredient. "It's moonlit moss" she said looking so sure "We need to add it to stabilize the potion immediately!"

Without wasting time the girls helped each to look for the missing herb, the other students looked at them in a crazy way as they ran around in the class together.

The girls soon found the moonlit moss from the supply cabinet and added it to their potion while crossing their fingers. The mixture immediately began to change, its color shifting to a vibrant green and the odor dissipating. Leaving them ecstatic.

Professor Thorne returned to the front of the class, her eyes narrowing as she observed the experiments . She was about to say "Well done," to the first group when she realized that Keisha and her group had figured out that there's a missing ingredient.

" voice laced with a hint of surprise and annoyance . "You have shown great ingenuity and resourcefulness, never thought any of you guys would figure it out"

The girls just smiled lightly and said nothing, they could see their professor wasn't happy with them.

......

After class, Professor Thorne approached the girls when they were about to head to their boarding house "You are very perceptive," she said, her tone grudgingly respectful. "It seems I underestimated you."

Kiesha met her gaze and smiled lightly . "We just want to learn and succeed."

Professor Thorne nodded. "And succeed you shall. But remember, alchemy is as much about intuition as it is about knowledge. Trust your instincts." with that she winked and walked away.

As the girls left the classroom, they couldn't shake the feeling that something more sinister was at play. Professor Thorne's conversation in Gaelic hinted at a deeper conspiracy, one that could jeopardize their mission to bring back magic.

But for now there was nothing they could do. They had to stay put and see how it goes.

"you guys were impressive" Eli a boy from the next school said as he approached the girls.

"thanks they all said in unison"

", how did you know there was a missing herb?"

" let's just say instincts.." Tori answered while looking at Equestria and winked at her.

" I would like to hang out with you guys some time... Please?" Eli said giving them puppy eyes.

"sure we will see you around". With that they walked away.

"no one in our class is to be trusted so let's tread carefully, let's not make it obvious" Zenid said while looking at Eli from the corner of her eye.

" you right"....

Everything seemed okay but the girls didn't know how much of a threat and a good weapon they were at the same time..
