The Almighty Diva: Reborn to be Worshipped

Chapter 17: The Ignorance of the Silver Needle

He hadn't come to see Bo Yanchen just for the sake of checking on Ji Chuxing; the two men didn't bother hiding their business talk from her, openly discussing it over dinner. When Wei Xingzhou mentioned the underground casino in South City, Bo Yanchen glanced over and noticed that the young girl was listening with rapt attention, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

It was as if her face silently pleaded, "Take me with you, take me with you!"

Thinking of her notorious love for money, Bo Yanchen felt a headache coming on. "Xingbao, forget what you heard. Don't even think about it."

Ji Chuxing opened her mouth as if she wanted to say something, but before she could utter a word, Bo Yanchen cut her off firmly. "Don't even think about it."

She turned away, lowering her head as she ate her red sugar tofu pudding. Even her usually perky little strand of hair seemed to wilt, losing its usual bounce.

After dinner, the city lights began to twinkle. Wei Xingzhou insisted on squeezing into Bo Yanchen's car. Though Bo Yanchen had half a mind to kick him out, he restrained himself in front of the young girl.

As they passed by a large traditional Chinese medicine clinic, Ji Chuxing asked them to stop. Remembering the milk tea, Bo Yanchen instructed Wei Xingzhou, "Go buy two cups of milk tea."

He paused, adding, "Make sure they're warm, with less sugar."

Ji Chuxing rolled her eyes. "I'm going to the pharmacy to buy something."

Bo Yanchen frowned. "Are you feeling unwell?"

As he spoke, his warm palm gently pressed against her forehead. Ji Chuxing didn't resist and simply explained, "No, I'm just buying some things to play with. You don't need to come with me."

Bo Yanchen chuckled softly. "Go ahead."

He didn't insist on following her, recognizing that a girl her age would have her own little secrets.

Wei Xingzhou watched the two in the backseat, feeling awkward. The atmosphere in the car was too cloying, so he got out and followed Ji Chuxing into the pharmacy.

The pharmacy was a renowned traditional Chinese medicine clinic in South City called Xihuatang. Despite being a traditional establishment, it was highly respected, and many people struggled to secure an appointment.

Ji Chuxing pulled out a crumpled piece of paper from her backpack and handed it to the pharmacist. "Please get these items for me, thank you."

The pharmacist took the list, glanced at it, and politely said, "Please wait a moment. There's a fruit and beverage area over there where you can rest."

So, Ji Chuxing sat down, munching on some sweets while casually glancing around the pharmacy.

It was a traditional Chinese medicine store, and even at this hour, many people were still inside, buying medicine or seeking consultations.

Wei Xingzhou watched as she nearly finished all the snacks and regretted following her. He had thought she was going to buy something interesting, but it looked more like she was there to enjoy the store's treats. He felt like a parent who had taken a mischievous child out and was a bit embarrassed.

Deciding to step outside for a smoke, he suddenly heard a scream from inside the pharmacy.

"Someone has fainted!"

Someone shouted, and everyone instinctively turned to look. A few people had gathered around a spot where someone lay on the ground.

Several doctors nearby rushed over, along with the elderly TCM practitioner who regularly worked at the clinic.

Ji Chuxing peered through the crowd and saw an old woman in her seventies, with white hair and dressed in a dark qipao, lying pale on the floor. She seemed to be alone.

The elderly TCM practitioner immediately checked her pulse and eyes, then instructed someone to bring silver needles to administer acupuncture.

Just as the silver needle was about to be inserted, a clear, calm voice rang out, "Wait!"

Everyone turned to look. The elderly TCM practitioner, seeing that it was an underage girl, became irritated. "What do you want? Can't you see we're trying to save someone?"

"Your technique is flawed," Ji Chuxing said coolly.

This made the elderly TCM practitioner indignant. "Little girl, you don't even know what a silver needle is, and you dare to criticize my technique? Don't interfere with our work."

There were still many people in the pharmacy, and they all chimed in with disapproval.

"A pretty girl like her, why is she causing trouble?"

"If even the experienced TCM practitioner doesn't know, how could she?"

"Little girl, don't interfere with the doctor's work."

"What's wrong with her? Just leave already!"
