Chapter 125: FULLY HEALED
Alan: "I'm so sorry; I didn't mean to scare him. I tried to get his attention as soon as I woke up."
Dr. Lance: "It's not your fault; that fool just doesn't have any spine at all. What's there to be afraid of inside a secure facility?!!"
Alan took a look around as he surveyed the room full of machines.
Alan: "I can't blame him; this place is… Well, it's not an easy place to be alone at night."
Dr. Lance: "The important thing is that you are fine now; all your injuries have healed remarkably, especially the one to your soul."
Alan: "From what I know, soul-related injury is very hard to heal. I still can't believe my injured soul has healed this fast."
Dr Lance: "well we received a strategic resource that is extremely valuable, delivered to this base especially for you"
Raising his eyebrow, as he did not expect such intensive care to be provided by an organization, especially for someone who hasn't officially joined.
The conversation between the two was cut short as the massive door of this room opened; two high-ranking officers entered.
All the researchers stopped what they were doing immediately as they saluted the incoming men. Dr. Lance followed after his subordinates.
Seeing the spectacle unfolding in front of him, Alan followed suit as he observed the two men walking towards him.
Dr. Lance: "Greetings, Major Paterson, Lieutenant."
Alan: "Greetings, Major Patterson, Lieutenant."
Nodding his head, the major answered.
Major Patterson: "At ease, everyone, please get back to your work. I'm not here to interrupt you.
Seed number 33, how do you feel now?"
Alan: "Thank you, Major. I feel great as if all the injuries were just a dream."
Major Patterson: "that is very good, this is lieutenant Robert head of intelligence on this base"
Robert: "it is good to see you fully health number 33"
Alan: "Thank you, lieutenant."
Major Patterson: "So Dr Lance, how is 33 doing? Can he be discharged today?"
Dr Lance: "he's in top shape, even the previous soul injury has healed, he can be discharged effective immediately"
Robert: "that is good"
Major Patterson: "Thank you, Dr. Lance, 33 walk with us."
Watching the two men turn around and leave, Alan followed the orders, walking right behind them.
After a while, he found himself inside a luxurious office with a cup of herbal tea in his hand and two men observing him intensely.
Alan: "Ahem, thank you for your hospitality, Major Patterson, although I have already thanked them multiple times, please give my utmost gratitude to Dr. Lance and the researchers again."
Robert: "We will. 33, you have made a great contribution, and you still haven't even officially joined the organization."
Alan: "So the terror attack failed; all those cities are safe."
Major Patterson: "Not only that, an extensive cleaning operation that uprooted many spies cleaning all these cities. Plus, we caught the expert looking like a child who was the true messenger; it has been dealt with."
Surprise flashed in Alan's eyes; that powerful expert, that only a shockwave of her attack was enough to severely injure him, was actually dealt with. In simpler terms, he knew that the target had been eliminated.
Robert: "Before you ask, all the team members in the assault squad aboard the flying ship have made a full recovery. I even have a message for you (thank you, kid) from Dagger's mouth."
His lips turned upward as a small smile appeared on his face, which actually surprised the two men who were observing him from the moment they first saw him in the lab.
He appeared cold and outside extremely mature for his age yet he could display such an emotion honestly on his face.
Alan: "That is the best news to wake up to."
Major Patterson: "You are in for a huge reward coming your way because of your great contributions. The higher-ups are still discussing this matter; after all, it is slightly complicated as you are not an official member yet."
Robert: "Truthfully, when I was told that a 17-year-old trainee in the seed program who had finished it was the one who discovered the nefarious plot, I doubted the sanity of whoever wrote the report, but after I saw you, I I could understand why."
Major Patterson: "Indeed, the young ones will overcome the old."
Alan: "You both are praising me too much. I did what I could at the time, and that's it, but thank you for holding me in such high regard."
Major Patterson: "Well, that's good. How about you contact the officer in charge of your training to know your next step?"
Alan: "I am on vacation, Major; that is my next step."
Robert: "Well, that is technically not true."
Alan: "Why? I was given a one-month leave."
Major Patterson had a teasing smile on his face as he asked the confused Alan.
Major Patterson: "How long do you think you have been here receiving treatment?"
Alan: "No way, I have been unconscious for a whole month."
Robert: "32 days to be exact. You are severely underestimating soul injuries. Just the fact that you manage to heal your soul is a tremendous win. You have to know that the soul is the foundation that makes or breaks any beast tamer.
The stronger the soul, the more contracts we can make, the faster our cultivation speed is, and the higher we can reach on the life orders.
I believe Dr. Lance told you that we have received the precious resource to heal your soul; even I or the major could not afford such a resource without a decade of contribution to the organization. That is how valuable it is."
Alan: "32 days, my vacation is no more!"
Major Patterson: "First I will call you superior officer, then you will know your orders. I have heard that you are planning on joining the trial for the combat division; for that I raise my hat to you, but I don't think the lieutenant in charge of your training or the higher-ups will push you into the trial after such a massive injury. You can call him right now on this line."
The call has been made; on the other end, Lieutenant Rock was having a meeting. He received the notification on his terminal informing him of an incoming call from outside the base.
He finished the meeting immediately as he headed back to his office, receiving the call he had been waiting for for more than a month.
Lieutenant Rock: "This is Lieutenant Rock speaking."
Major Patterson: "It's Major Patterson. I have someone who wants to talk to you, lieutenant."
Lieutenant Rock had a huge smile on his face as he asked.
Lieutenant Rock: "Did he wake up?"
Alan: "Hello, lieutenant, it's good to hear your voice."
Lieutenant Rock: "33! How are you now? Are you okay?"
Alan: "I am fine, lieutenant; thank you for asking. More importantly, I want to know what is next; after all, I have blown off my 1-month vacation. I am even a few days late for the trial."
Lieutenant Rock: "Ahh, it's good that you are fine; you don't need to worry about that. You will get another month of leave effective immediately from this day; the trial will be here ready for you when you get back."
Feeling a burden has been lifted off his shoulders, he was excited to meet with his family after such a long time being away and separated from them.
Alan: "Thank you, lieutenant."
Lieutenant Rock: "I might contact you soon when the higher-ups decide how they will reward you for your contribution; it was a job well done, and I am proud to be your training officer."
Alan: "The pleasure is all mine, Lieutenant Rock."
Lieutenant Rock: "That is all for now. Thank you, Major Patterson, for calling me immediately. Have a good day, gentlemen."
Major Patterson: "You're welcome, lieutenant."
As the call ended, Alan asked a silly question.
Alan: "Thank you for taking care of me, Major Patterson and Lieutenant Robert, but I really would like to go home as fast as possible. If it was all right with you, could you arrange the transportation right now?"
Robert: "Hahaha, someone is too excited to go home; it brings back a lot of memories. You don't have to worry; you will be transported immediately. The next time you open your eyes, you will be home."
Alan: "No way, again…"
He felt his body relax as the cup of tea in his hand was getting blurry before everything turned black like a toddler drifting into sleep.
Major Patterson: "Let's send him home; he did not see that coming."
Robert: "You talk as if you had seen it when you were a seed, heh!!"
...…
A few hours later, Alan found himself inside another hotel room; he did not know whether to laugh or cry at this tradition.
The first thing he did was to take a look outside the window and confirm his location using the terminal.
This time he was sent to the right city, where his mother and sister are living with the Hunts.
Before he goes back, he needs to buy some bribes and gifts; going back empty-handed wasn't a choice.
