This was Luo Yuan's second time in Celadon City since his return to Kanto.
But this time was different—he was here as Rocket Executive "K."
Disguised by Ditto as "K," Luo Yuan strolled down Celadon's streets, his presence unnoticed but for the occasional curious glance at Mewtwo.
The atmosphere here was tense. Rumor of Lance and Agatha's raid on the Rocket Game Corner had spread quickly, and news that a major Rocket base was hidden beneath the arcade left the residents of Celadon in shock.
Reactions were divided. On one hand, there were those cheering the League's takedown of the Game Corner. Many of them had lost money to the arcade and felt vindicated knowing it was connected to Team Rocket. For them, it was a chance to vent long-held frustrations.
But others in Celadon were apprehensive. Rocket's history in Kanto was nearly three decades long; they'd grown from a small organization to a powerful entity spanning Kanto and Johto. Many residents were well aware of Rocket's methods and feared retaliation. The League might swoop in to "save" them, but what if Rocket retaliated after they left?
Two conflicting moods now rippled through Celadon.
Listening to the chatter around him, Luo Yuan couldn't help but respect Giovanni's efforts. Rocket's reputation had become so fearsome that even their enemies feared what was to come after the Game Corner's fall. In any other region, a victory like this would be cause for unanimous celebration, but here in Kanto, it only sowed further worry.
Luo Yuan's earbud crackled to life with a message from Matori.
"We've pinpointed their location. According to intel from our informants in the League, they're preparing to transfer our captured members to Indigo Plateau."
"The good news is that Lance and Agatha are still at the Game Corner. They didn't join the convoy."
A map appeared on his phone with the convoy's precise route.
"Three blocks from here, huh?" Luo Yuan murmured, noting that Lance and Agatha's absence felt… convenient. Still, his confidence kept any doubts at bay.
He held out his phone to Mewtwo, who regarded the map coolly, then placed its hand on Luo Yuan's shoulder.
Together, they summoned their combined psychic energy.
Flash!
In the stunned gasps of bystanders, Luo Yuan and Mewtwo vanished.
Teleportation!
The next moment, Luo Yuan and Mewtwo hovered in midair, staring down at the convoy of vehicles below.
"Mewtwo!" Luo Yuan called, gesturing downward.
Mewtwo didn't need further instructions. Its hand rose to chest level, eyes glowing with a brilliant blue light.
One by one, the vehicles below floated off the road, captured by Mewtwo's telekinetic grip.
"What's going on?!"
"Why won't the car move?!"
The drivers frantically jammed their gas pedals to no avail as Mewtwo's three-fingered hand tightened, and with a faint squeeze, every tire exploded with a loud pop.
The vehicles crashed back down.
Finally, the League trainers escorting the convoy realized the attack.
"It's Rocket!"
"Enemy sighted—one person!"
"Take him down!"
Spotting only Luo Yuan and the unfamiliar Pokémon beside him, the League trainers tossed out their Poké Balls without hesitation.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Amid the hissing release of Poké Balls, twenty or thirty Pokémon filled the street below, each primed to attack under its trainer's command.
"Water Gun!"
"Thunderbolt!"
"Flamethrower!"
Their practiced teamwork launched a barrage of moves toward Luo Yuan and Mewtwo.
Luo Yuan smirked, a hint of mockery in his eyes, and snapped his fingers. "Mewtwo, block it."
The command was vague, one that might have baffled most Pokémon. But Mewtwo wasn't an ordinary Pokémon.
A mere glance was enough.
Mewtwo's hand rose again, and a transparent, blue sphere materialized around them. The massive onslaught—beams, blasts, and torrents of elemental power—all crashed uselessly against Mewtwo's barrier.
With no equal among the League trainers below, Mewtwo might as well have been invincible.
"What?!"
"No damage at all?!"
"It's Psychic-type—send out Dark and Ghost-types!"
The League trainers quickly adjusted their strategy, but Luo Yuan just chuckled.
"Isn't it a bit late to rethink your approach?" he said. "Mewtwo, Psychic Crush!"
With a single command, Mewtwo's eyes blazed as its psychic aura flared. Luo Yuan felt the air thicken as an immense pressure bore down on the Pokémon below.
One by one, the League's Pokémon clasped their heads in agony before collapsing, strewn across the street.
In mere seconds, almost ten Pokémon had been defeated. Without the advantage of high-level opponents, the League trainers were overwhelmed, pinned down under Mewtwo's psychic prowess.
While Mewtwo kept the trainers occupied, Luo Yuan floated over to a transport truck holding Rocket prisoners.
This mission almost feels too easy… Maybe I should pay Lance a visit afterward? Luo Yuan mused, while telekinetically snapping the lock on the truck's back door.
But instead of grateful Rocket members, a hulking figure hurtled out.
The creature had sausage-thick lips, wore only a pair of trunks, and boasted four muscular arms—Machamp, its granite-like muscles bulging as it lunged straight for Luo Yuan.
