Chapter 14: Chapter 14
"I like her. She's rather fun." came Akira's voice from the slightly ajar door to the bathroom.
"Well, you two did spend nearly the entire night and half the wine we have got for the wedding talking like old friends with one another so I certainly hope you like her. Plus, whether we like it or not she is my sister so we are kinda stuck with her." Matt replied with a slight chuckle as he laid on his back on top of their bed.
The three women had really hit it off with one another it seemed. Rem had recovered much faster from Akira's antics than Herelda had but eventually the three women were talking together like long lost sisters. Matt had mostly just sat aside and listened the entire night, throwing his two cents in on conversations every once in a while but mostly he just enjoyed listening to the others. Rem had happily recounted her side of multiple stories at Akira's request of her childhood with Matt. In true fashion to herself, she had spared no details in her stories and really enjoyed recounting any tales that made Matt look like a fool. Matt just rolled his eyes as his wife ate up every word like a kid at a candy store.
The conversation would steer over towards Rem and Herelda eventually and Akira was all too happy it seemed to dig deeper into their relationship. It seemed to Matt that the two were definitely in it for one another but both were struggling with showing their true feelings for the other. Matt found that a bit odd, as Rem had never been one to be shy. She must have actually fallen for the elf woman. In the end, that conversation had been short and was dodged the rest of the night.
At one point in the evening, after they had moved the conversation into the dining hall for dinner, Herelda had begun to grill Matt on all sorts of questions. Everything from his character to what he did in his alone time had been brought up in question and Matt had felt like it was more of an interrogation then just some getting to know you questioning. Matt answered each of the elf's questions as truthly as he could and was honest when there were just certain questions he couldn't or wouldn't answer. The elf woman eventually dropped the line of questioning and the night continued on.
The night eventually came to an end when they realized they had drunk all the wine, and rather than breaking open another new bottle from the wine cellar the ladies decided it was just best then to head off to bed. Both Rem and Herelda were shown off to their separate rooms in the guest wing of the manor while Akira and Matt went to their bed chamber.
"Yes well, if all goes according to my plans then perhaps we will be seeing a lot more of her around soon." Akira said in reply as she emerged from the bathroom.
She was wearing nothing more than a simple black silk robe that Matthew really enjoyed. The robe was a little small, coming down just a little bit past fingertip length on her thighs and she could never fully close it thanks to the size of her bust. Instead, she wore it like an open sweater that just barely covered her most intimate parts and it drove Matt crazy for her.
Matt watched as she made her way over to the bed, her hips swaying back and forth almost seductively with beach steps and she had all nine of her soft sapphire tails out on display. He had noticed that she'd been putting more effort into having her tails out more then she seemed to have before. Each time they'd gone on an outing into the city she'd have at least three of her tails out and undisguised by her magic. People were already staring at her in part to both her beauty and status as Matriarch, but when they saw her tails? Matt was just glad that he wasn't the only one who seemed to be hypnotized by them as well. However, Akira still only ever brought out three of her tails at any given time unless she was alone or with her husband. Then, she'd fan out her tails as if she was stretching them out from keeping them all bunched together for so long. Luckily she had excellent control of them and never once did she ever accidentally knock something over with her tails or something.
Matt moved aside a little on the bed as Akira slipped into bed beside him. She immediately wrapped her body around his and her soft fluffy tails fell over them like a blanket as she snuggled up closer to him. He couldn't help but smile as she made cute little noises that sounded like the whimpering sounds a fox made as she laid her head on his chest and got comfortable. She was absolutely adorable.
"Your plans huh?" Matt asked almost in a whisper as he wrapped his arm around his wife.
"Mhmm" she replied, already sounding half asleep before she looked up at him with large green eyes and her signature mischievous grin "Come now. You really didn't think I wasn't going to try and push those two together now would you?"
"Just don't be too forceful with it. Not everyone is as eager to jump into marriage as you and I" Matt chuckled.
"Do you regret that decision?" Akira asked as she looked up into his eyes.
"Not at all," Matt replied with a chuckle as he held her a little tighter.
"Good. Because you're stuck with me now Mr. Winters" she grinned as she leaned up towards him a little more and gently kissed his lips.
The two stayed there for a moment, locked in each other's embrace while sharing a few loving kisses back and forth with one another. Akira then laid her head back on his chest as he held her close to him, both listening to the others' soft breathing for a while without a word.
"Hey. I've actually been meaning to ask you something." Matt said softly as he gently rubbed his wife's arm.
"What is it dear? Is something wrong?" Akira asked as she propped herself up on her elbows over his chest to look at him.
"No, nothings wrong. Well. Not exactly. I was just wondering, are there certain people, or beings, or whatever I should be keeping an eye out for during the wedding?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well you said that there might be some people who'd be pretty upset when they found out about our marriage. I just wanted to know if I should be keeping an eye out for any of these characters if they were to show up to our wedding." Matt replied as he held his wife with his arm around the small of her back.
Akira laid there on him for a moment, clearly thinking as she drummed her fingers over her lips in an adorable manner that made Matt smile a little.
"There are a few people who might try and cause a scene if they are in attendance but honestly dear you shouldn't worry about that. It's our wedding day, meaning it's a big day for you too. You should be enjoying it, not constantly looking over your shoulder. I've placed both Pyre and Rainghar on security duty and they are both more than capable of dealing with any rowdy guests that may try and ruin our wonderful day. You really needn't worry about yourself, my love." Akira said as she gently held her small hand against Matt's cheek while she looked deep into his eyes.
Matt closed his eyes for a moment, finding that he enjoyed the feeling of the simple gesture before he let out a sigh and frowned a little.
"Look, I'm not doubting either of their capabilities. Even though Rainghar and I don't seem to see eye to eye, I still understand that both he and Pyre are a formidable force. But they are still just two individuals." Matt replied
"Are you expecting an army to show up at our wedding dear?" Akira giggled slightly.
Matt looked seriously into her eyes for a moment before he let out a sigh and shifted a bit uncomfortably as he stared up at the ceiling.
"I honestly wish I could say that I wasn't, but I've seen crazier things go down before. In the world I come from, I've seen rival factions show up in force at what was supposed to be a joyous occasion for the other side, just to brutally slaughter everyone that was there… including the women and children."
Akira didn't reply for a moment as she stared up into Matthew's eyes. She had a small look of sorrow in her own eyes before she took a small breath to recollect herself.
"I'm so sorry my love. And sadly enough, I too have witnessed similar horrors and atrocities. It seems that there are always monsters no matter what world you come from. I… can't say with complete certainty that there aren't those I know who might respond in similar fashion given the news of our betrothal, but know that if anyone dares to ruin our wedding day… I'll personally see to it that they are begging for death before the sunsets that day."
Matt could feel Akira's killing intent emanating off her small body as she continued to cling on to him. Oddly enough, he found that slightly endearing a little and he began to wonder to himself about what that meant about his character for a moment. He decided it was best to bury those thoughts away and instead softly chuckled aloud a bit as he gave his wife's nearly naked body a tight squeeze. The two hugged one another with Akira's face buried happily in her husband's chest for the moment.
"Still though. If it's alright with you dear, I'd like to take a few extra precautions of my own to help keep everybody safe." Matt said softly as he began to rub his wife's bare back.
Her skin felt silky smooth to the touch as he gently moved his fingertips up and down the length of her back. He then wondered if his rough, leathery, calloused hands felt awkward to her in comparison but those doubts were quickly washed away by the pleasant sounding sigh his wife let out before she responded to him.
"I don't mind, but exactly what kind of precautions did you have in mind?"
