Chapter 7: Chapter 7: I AM IRON MAN
Lin Feng rejected the little reporter's request to take her to the press conference.
He drove the R8 alone to the press conference. In broad daylight, he didn't dare to fly around. There were too many people around, and it was not like at night. Wearing black clothes at night, people basically wouldn't notice.
On Pepper's side, she was fiddling with Tony's face, using concealer to cover all the wounds on his face.
Agent Coulson was constantly giving instructions on details.
On the TV behind them, Rhodey was making up stories to explain the explosion that happened last night to a group of reporters.
"Here's your alibi!" Coulson handed Tony two sheets of manuscript paper.
"You were on your yacht all night last night! And there are sworn testimonies from your 50 guests!"
"There's evidence at the port to prove that you were in Avalon all night and didn't leave."
"Good, but I'd prefer it if it was just me and Pepper..."
"Alone on the island!" Tony said, raising an eyebrow and glancing at Pepper beside him.
"Also, what about Lin Feng? I mean that black-haired guy, my friend."
"He's your bodyguard! Sounds reasonable, right?"
"Are you kidding? Do you think those reporters will believe this? This excuse doesn't hold water, does it?" Tony had a look of confusion.
"Don't worry. We've done this kind of thing plenty of times!" Coulson smiled confidently.
"There's no better explanation. Just read the script I gave you. This will all be over soon."
"You have 90 seconds!"
"Alright. I hope Lin doesn't punch me out of anger." Tony shrugged.
Coulson left for the moment. Pepper helped Tony put on his coat. After her efforts, the wounds on Tony's face almost disappeared. Then Tony slowly walked towards the conference room.
As soon as Tony made his appearance, cameras and recorders were pointed at him. Clearly, Tony was used to this kind of scene.
He walked onto the podium, adjusted the microphone, took out the script, and got straight to the point. "Some people are speculating that I was involved in the incidents that occurred on the highway and the rooftop..."
Before Tony could finish a sentence, a discordant voice came from the conference hall!
"Excuse me, Mr. Stark!" The blond female reporter sitting in the front row forcefully interrupted Tony's speech.
"Do you really think we'll believe that it was a bodyguard in an Iron Man suit who showed up in time?"
Tony frowned and looked at the female reporter. The reporter continued to ask without hesitation, "And what about that person who delivered a punch with at least dozens of tons of force? Is he human?
"Or perhaps a mutant?! As far as I know, he seems to be the person you brought back from the cave where you were held captive..."
"How do you explain whether he is..."
"I understand your doubts, but please don't question the official statement and make crazy accusations!"
Tony interrupted the female reporter, a bit annoyed, with a forced smile.
"As for Lin, he's my friend, and he's not a mutant!"
"However, I don't think I need to explain my friend to you!" Tony pointed at the female reporter from a distance, indicating that she should watch what she said.
Tony had always been a dominant person. He wasn't afraid of reporters digging up dirt and writing nonsense. Without evidence, they didn't have the guts to do anything. Tony Stark wasn't one to be trifled with!
At this moment, Tony, as the head of Stark Industries, exuded an overwhelming aura, leaving the female reporter momentarily speechless.
Lin Feng was in the audience at this time. He was wearing sunglasses and smiling, hiding behind a group of reporters, watching Tony Stark bicker with the female reporter.
Seeing Tony getting more and more off-topic, Rhodey helplessly leaned over and whispered,
"Read from the script, Tony!"
"OK! OK!" Tony replied and picked up the script.
"Regarding the incident last night, the fact is..." Tony paused here, his eyes sweeping around. Everyone was waiting for Tony's truth, although they all knew it was probably just another excuse.
Looking at the script again, Tony took a breath and said something that was beyond everyone's expectations...
"I am Iron Man!"
"Whoa!" The hall immediately filled with noise. Reporters exclaimed and crowded together, raising their microphones to ask questions loudly. The flashlights were flickering non-stop!
"Big news! Tony Stark admits he's Iron Man. Some people are going to have a headache soon!"
The entire press conference reached its peak with this sentence. It was foreseeable that today's news would definitely be the top headline! There was nothing interesting to watch anymore. After this famous moment, Lin Feng left in the chaos. There was still something about the little reporter that he needed to talk to Tony about. He searched the venue for a long time but didn't notice that Lin Feng was right under his nose. Plus, with Tony's statement of "I am Iron Man," the scene was in complete chaos.
Helpless, he could only report to Nick Fury. The instruction he received was to withdraw for the time being. Nick Fury would meet Tony in person at night.
Reluctantly, Coulson led his team to retreat. But what he didn't expect was that everything he did didn't escape Lin Feng's eyes. Even more ridiculously, he passed by Lin Feng several times without noticing him...
Watching Coulson retreat, Lin Feng retracted his gaze. He touched the ring he redeemed from the system store this morning and couldn't help but give it a thumbs-up.
Ordinary Black Ring: Reduces the wearer's presence. The effect is even stronger than Superman's glasses! Wear it, and even your dad won't recognize you!
Additional Skill: Can be completely invisible for 10 minutes every 24 hours (True invisibility. Invisible to the naked eye, can avoid more than ten types of detection equipment such as heat sensors and radar).
It cost 1 million prestige points! But it was worth it. Lin Feng had already shown his true face. Without a disguise, how could he go out on the street in the future? Wouldn't he be followed by a bunch of reporters?
Moreover, just this additional skill was definitely worth 1 million prestige points. Ten minutes of invisibility, although it was only ten minutes, it was true invisibility. Lin Feng remembered that in the original story, Superman didn't have this ability.
This ability would bring great convenience to Lin Feng, no matter what he did.
It was this ring that made Lin Feng's presence so low that it was terrifying. Coulson saw Lin Feng as if he were air and couldn't help but ignore him. If the skills couldn't be stacked, Lin Feng would have bought ten of them and worn them all on his fingers. He could be invisible for an hour every day.
Time passed quickly, and it was soon evening. Tony had been dealing with reporters' questions almost all day.
But he didn't reveal any useful information.
All the reporters knew was that Tony Stark was Iron Man, and the one who punched the huge mecha flying was Tony Stark's friend, Lin Feng.
Finally, after seeing off the reporters, hearing that Lin Feng had something to discuss, Tony invited him to the villa for dinner. The two of them took a car and headed for Tony's seaside villa.
In the car, Lin Feng took out the photos the little reporter had taken and briefly explained the whole story.
Tony said that this was all a minor matter and he would take care of it. There was no need to put on the Iron Man suit and go for a round. He could just send his men to handle it.
Lin Feng nodded in agreement. The members of the Gray Street Gang couldn't be completely eliminated. There was also a lot of gray and white business involved.
Even if Lin Feng fired a heat ray, he wouldn't be able to get rid of all the troublemakers. Besides, things hadn't reached that point yet. Tony's solution was the best and the one with the least loss.
After finishing talking about the small matter, Tony couldn't help but start being sarcastic again.
"Hey, Lin, do you know what those reporters are calling you now?" Tony grinned and winked at Lin Feng.
Just by looking at his expression, Lin Feng knew he was up to no good again...
"Those reporters are calling you Super Boy! Hahaha!"
"It sounds like an underage brat! So childish!" Tony laughed so hard that he slapped Lin Feng's shoulder.
Pepper in the front seat suddenly turned around and said mercilessly, "You, who admitted to being Iron Man, are even more childish, Tony!"
"Hey! Whose side are you on!" Tony stopped laughing.
This time, Lin Feng burst out laughing.
"Actually, I'd prefer it if they called me Superman..." Lin Feng said. The term "Super Boy" left him at a loss for words.
"Superman?" Tony read the word carefully.
"Not bad, but it doesn't sound as cool as my Iron Man! Right?"
"How about Iron Man taking a punch from me?"
"No, no, no, Lin! We're friends. Fighting isn't a good thing!" Tony quickly refused. He couldn't withstand Lin Feng's punch. This guy was a monster.
Seeing Tony deflated, Lin Feng and Pepper laughed again.
The whole car was filled with a happy atmosphere.
Before long, during their conversation, the car arrived at the villa.
Pepper made an excuse to go to the kitchen to check on the dinner preparation, leaving the space for the two men who clearly had important matters to discuss.
Tony and Lin Feng walked slowly towards the living room while talking.
When they reached the living room, Lin Feng suddenly raised an eyebrow, stopped the conversation, and looked towards the window...
Seeing Lin Feng suddenly stop talking, Tony was also taken aback. He followed Lin Feng's gaze and looked towards the window.
"I am Iron Man!" A voice came from the darkness. It was a bit deep and disdainful.
"Tony Stark, do you think you're the only superhero in the world?" Nick Fury slowly walked into the light, giving a warning right from the start, exuding a powerful aura.
"Who are you?!" Tony looked at the newcomer with a strange expression.
A stranger had appeared in his house, and Jarvis didn't alert him. That meant the person had the ability to block Jarvis' detection.
This was not good news for Tony. He couldn't put on the Iron Man suit at any time now, which made him feel a bit of a sense of crisis.
But it wasn't too bad since Lin Feng was still by his side.
"Nick Fury! Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.!" Nick Fury replied, his eyes lingering on Lin Feng for a while.
"Tony Stark! And Lin Feng!"
"Can we sit down and talk..."
