Chapter 6: Chapter 6: The Ins and Outs. Nick Fury's Plans
After Lin Feng brought Susan back to the villa, he thoughtfully poured her a cup of hot cocoa. This was a little trick he learned from the Harry Potter movies. It was said that after being frightened, eating a piece of chocolate or drinking a cup of hot cocoa could effectively relieve one's emotions.
"My name is Lin Feng. What's your name?" Lin Feng asked with a smile.
"Ah! I'm Susan!" Susan took the hot cocoa and thanked him softly. Having just experienced the thrill of flying through the air, she still hadn't fully calmed down.
"Susan, Susan Carter. I'm a reporter," Susan said as she sipped the hot cocoa, stealing glances at Lin Feng from time to time. Lin Feng's strong physique and chiseled face were so handsome that it was hard to look away. He exuded the aura of a sunny, boy-next-door type. Even with his black hair and black eyes, he would definitely turn heads on the street.
"What are you looking at?" Lin Feng asked, feeling a bit uncomfortable under her gaze.
"Ah, sorry!" Susan was a bit embarrassed to be caught.
"I'm just curious. I've never seen anyone who can fly before! Are you a mutant?"
"I'm not a mutant! Mutants aren't the only ones with superpowers," Lin Feng replied without going into too much detail. After all, they didn't know each other well yet, and he didn't think it was necessary.
"Are you from the Xia Alliance?" After drinking the hot cocoa, Susan had completely returned to normal. Lin Feng's black hair and black eyes made her think of that ancient and mysterious eastern country. In her impression, only a few eastern countries had people with such pure black hair and black eyes.
"What? Isn't it obvious?" Lin Feng pinched his bangs and joked. His black hair, black eyes, and yellow skin all clearly showed his identity.
Susan was momentarily at a loss for words. She thought to herself, what was that word her little sister told her a couple of days ago? That's right! Straight man! This powerful easterner was probably one.
Seeing Susan speechless, Lin Feng couldn't help but laugh. He poured himself a cup of hot cocoa too. With the boost of his superhuman physique, he didn't have to worry about gaining weight anymore. He could eat whatever he wanted.
"Let's talk about you, little reporter," Lin Feng said, trying to keep the conversation going. He decided to find out more about what this female reporter had done.
"I'm curious about what you took pictures of."
"I'm not a little reporter!" Susan rolled her eyes in pretended anger upon hearing Lin Feng's words. Then she slowly began to tell the story.
It turned out that Susan was a recent college graduate. Influenced by her parents, she was striving hard to aim for a program on CBS Television as she entered society.
Three months ago, Stark Industries announced a ban on weapons sales. However, Susan discovered that some members of the Gray Street Gang were preparing a large batch of Stark Industries' weapons for sale, including even deadly weapons like missiles! Her sharp nose told her that this was a big news story.
In a rush to make a name for herself, Susan, on a whim, went to film the transaction scene of the Gray Street Gang members without telling the TV station. However, Susan overestimated her tracking skills and underestimated the opponents' anti-reconnaissance abilities.
Any member of the Gray Street Gang was not someone a little reporter could easily mess with. The guys in Hell's Kitchen couldn't believe that there was such a fearless reporter who dared to come to their territory to collect evidence. So they immediately ordered to dispose of Susan on the spot.
But Susan seemed to have a talent for escaping. Like a slippery loach, she managed to dodge the Gray Street Gang members several times. The trading party was so angry that they offered a $20,000 bounty for her life.
Now, the punks of the Gray Street Gang had something to do. Whoever could get her life first would get the $20,000 reward!
The resourceful Susan managed to escape for three days. But being constantly on the run for such a long time greatly reduced her vigilance. Eventually, she was surrounded by several members of the Gray Street Gang.
If Lin Feng hadn't appeared today, Susan's life would probably have been exchanged for that $20,000 by now.
After hearing Susan's account, Lin Feng took a few more looks at her.
"Damn, this reporter is really brave!"
An ordinary person daring to mess with the guys in Hell's Kitchen. It was hard to tell whether to praise her for her courage or call her reckless.
"You're really brave!" Lin Feng gave her a thumbs-up.
"Don't make fun of me, Mr. Lin," Susan said, on the verge of tears. "I don't know what to do next. God, how I regret it!" Susan's eyes were a bit red, and as she spoke about the sad part, two tears rolled down.
She was young and had a bright future ahead. She didn't want to die so young. Her mother would be heartbroken if she knew!
"Just call me Lin," Lin Feng said indifferently. "Since it's related to Stark Industries' weapons, maybe I can offer a little help!" Lin Feng's words gave Susan a glimmer of hope.
Since he had a connection with Tony Stark, Lin Feng didn't mind lending a hand.
Hearing this, Susan's eyes lit up. She suddenly grabbed Lin Feng's arm, her red eyes staring intently at him as she asked eagerly, "Really? Lin, can you really help me?"
"Really! Really! Let go first!" Lin Feng was caught off guard and inwardly groaned. He thought to himself, is this reporter really this curvy? What did she eat to grow up like this? Even I, a Superman, can barely handle this!
"Sorry, sorry..." Susan realized her impropriety and blushed as she let go of his arm. Her previous action was just an instinctive grab for a life-saving straw.
Seeing Susan let go, Lin Feng let out a sigh of relief and continued, "I have a good relationship with Tony Stark. He has a press conference tomorrow. I'll talk to him about this after the conference."
"You can stay here for the next couple of days. You can choose any of the guest rooms on the first floor."
"There's food in the fridge. If you're hungry, you can cook something yourself."
"By the way! Can you cook? If not, just order takeout," Lin Feng asked.
"Yes, I can!" Susan nodded quickly. She got a perfect score in her home economics class.
"Good. Now, I'm going to take a shower and then get something to eat!" Lin Feng raised his eyebrows slightly. He himself realized that he had originally planned to eat after washing up, but after listening to the story for so long, it felt like he had been gossiping for ages. Now he wasn't really in the mood for other food.
"Don't ever go taking pictures of Gray Street Gang transactions again. You can't handle it!"
After giving these instructions, Lin Feng warned her with a serious expression. In situations like this, he could save her once or twice, but if it happened too often, there would always be times when he couldn't keep an eye on her. And if he was negligent, it would be really dangerous.
"I know! And I keep telling you, I'm not a little reporter!" Susan retorted.
"Just graduated! Aren't you a little reporter?" Lin Feng gave her a disdainful look, which made Susan blush all the way to the roots of her ears.
"Straight man!" Susan stomped her foot in anger and turned to choose a room.
The corners of Lin Feng's mouth twitched slightly, and he showed a hint of a disdainful smile as he muttered softly, "Little reporter. So funny."
"Lin!" Susan called out.
Lin Feng looked in the direction of the voice. Susan, who had chosen a room, was peeking out at him with just her head showing.
"What now?"
"Thank you!"
After saying that, Susan closed the door with a "bang".
Lin Feng shook his head, a warm smile spreading across his face. Saving someone for the first time, not counting that guy Tony, actually felt pretty good.
After tidying up, Lin Feng took a shower and then went to bed. Tomorrow, he had to get up early to witness an event!
At another place, Nick Fury, the "Black Eyepatch," was working overtime with heavy dark circles under his eyes.
Looking at the reports on the table and the video on the conference screen, Nick Fury's expression grew increasingly gloomy.
Agent Coulson was still standing beside him, and his face also wore a solemn expression.
On the screen was the footage of Lin Feng punching Obadiah Stane flying.
"At least over ten tons of force, maybe even dozens of tons, with that punch..." Coulson said. Even Captain America, whom he admired, didn't have such powerful strength!
"And he can fly too!"
"I can see that, Coulson!" Nick Fury pointed to his one eye.
The appearance of Lin Feng was completely unexpected for Nick Fury. In the past few days, just dealing with Tony Stark's matters had already given him a headache. And this black-haired kid was Tony Stark's friend. He hoped this guy wouldn't be too difficult to deal with. Nick Fury was secretly calculating in his mind.
"Does Tony Stark have a press conference tomorrow morning? Will he be there?" Nick Fury asked Coulson.
"According to the information we intercepted, Lin Feng has received a call from Jarvis. He will most likely go," Coulson replied.
Hearing this, Nick Fury nodded and ordered, "Tomorrow, take two men and approach Lin Feng after the conference. Probe him a bit."
"I want to know if he can be part of the plan."
"Also! Raise Lin Feng's security clearance level..." Nick Fury tapped the table as he gave the instructions.
"For now, that's all. Go and do it..."
