Chapter 8: Making important decision
"Long, long ago, the world was completely different than it is today. People didn't have to risk their lives every day to fight against invaders from the abyss..."
The sound of a bird singing a joyous song came from the half-opened window in the room. The sweet and soothing voice of Mother Athena Skylar created a calming atmosphere that relaxed Dawn's tense nerves.
Dawn had a thoughtful expression on his face as he listened intently to his mother's words.
"They could live tension-free. Even the poorest people could enjoy luxuries such as the Internet and venture into different worlds riding giant flaming torches. The world was more prosperous than ever..."
At this time, Athena stopped to look at the baby beside her to make sure that her son was listening. Noticing her son seemed to be listening, she immediately smiled and continued.
"However, one day everything changed with the arrival of Absolute Order and, along with it, the arrival of mana."
"Absolute Order allowed individuals to efficiently wield mana and quickly grow stronger. As they grew stronger, humankind realized they were not alone; there were many other races fighting against the invasion of the abyss in the Eternal Battlefield."
"Brain Summersault was one such individual who awakened with a class when he turned eighteen, and then he quickly rose through the ranks, defeating countless Abyss monsters."
Athena continued to speak, and Dawn listened. Her words made him realize that before the arrival of the so-called Absolute Order, this world was similar to his previous world.
While Dawn was trying his best not to miss anything and listened intently, to Mother Skylar it looked as if he was pretending.
But she really didn't care as long as he listened.
She didn't know when or how it began, but it was believed that children tended to become what they grew up listening about. The legendary tales of these warriors seemed to have miraculous powers that truly awakened the power hidden in their veins.
According to the rumors she had heard, this was the blessing given to the entire human race by the Absolute Order, earned by the strongest members of humankind after fighting numerous battles in the Eternal Battlefield and defeating uncountable numbers of Abyss monsters to help humanity grow.
Dawn also felt a strange force surrounding his body. Just as he was feeling confused, a new window popped up in front of him to clear his doubts.
[The legendary aura of great warrior Brain Summersault surrounds you, stimulating your potential.]
[Chance of awakening a class during awakening ceremony increased by 0.013%]
Not just Dawn, Mother Skylar also noticed the flow of mana around her son, and immediately an overjoyed smile appeared on her face.
"It is indeed effective. The stronger the warrior and more detailed the account is, the greater the effect of the blessing."
Athena muttered with shining eyes and resolved to gather the books of the strongest warrior for her son so that he could awaken a strong class in the future.
With her spirits soaring to new heights, Athena continued and left after feeding him.
Dawn looked at the ceiling above with a dazed expression on his face, feeling a little conflicted about being breastfed.
However, just as he was looking forward to the next time that he got fed, a gust of cold wind blew into the room, sending chills running down his spine.
Just a moment ago, he had felt a gaze lingering on his body. It was as if someone had placed a cold sharp knife on the back of his neck; the feeling disappeared as quickly as it came. Dawn was sure if it wasn't for his increased spiritual force, he wouldn't have been able to notice the gaze at all.
Someone or something was definitely in his room, constantly eyeing him; it was no wonder he had escaped death a thousand times in such a short period.
Dawn's face immediately turned ugly; he felt incredibly uncomfortable at the thought of constantly being eyed by someone who definitely wanted to kill him.
Thankfully, there was something which was keeping the hidden enemy in check, but Dawn wasn't sure of the future.
His fists were tightly clenched as he vigilantly surveyed the surroundings but found no trace of anyone.
The sudden threat made it difficult for him to close his eyes and fall asleep; he felt the enemy would attack as soon as he closed his eyes.
Time continued to pass, and soon another week passed in the blink of an eye.
Athena came every evening to spend time with him and narrate the story of Brain Summersault.
Dawn's attention was also captured by the story of Brain. Brain was someone who came from a humble background, but he rose like a rocket after a near-death experience.
He felt a strange sense of déjà vu while listening to the story, as if he had read it somewhere before, but he just couldn't remember where.
Today was also like usual; Mother Skylar was narrating the experience of Brain Summersault as he navigated through a dangerous place.
"The scene of Nether wraiths farming humans like crops made Brain's blood boil. Consumed by anger, he launched a massacre, annihilating all the Nether wraiths present in the area..."
Athena was as beautiful as ever, looking like a goddess who had descended into the mortal world.
However, he also noticed something seemed to be weighing heavily on her mind. Then he thought about his father, who hadn't come to visit him after so many days.
Sigh! He shook his head and focused on Brain's story.
Suddenly he had a thoughtful expression on his face; the descriptions of Nether wraiths that Brain encountered appeared familiar.
'Wait a minute, isn't it the same monster that I encountered...'
His eyes immediately lit up at the discovery, and he immediately sighed thankfully that he didn't give in to the temptations and patiently waited until he now had some information to work with.
[The anger of Brain Summersault resonates with you. The myth of a great warrior envelops you and further strengthens your potential.]
[Chances of awakening a class are greatly increased.]
Dawn ignored these useless notifications.
Athena finished the last page for today, looked at her son, and frowned.
After spending days with her youngest son, Athena was starting to get worried. Her son was too quiet, unlike her other children who used to constantly throw tantrums and cry.
Dawn pretended as if he hadn't noticed Athena's worry. He was busy mentally preparing himself to head to the Eternal Battlefield; earlier he had planned to wait for some time, but a change had forced him to modify his plans.
A few days ago, he had noticed the hidden assassin seemed to be getting restless.
Dawn felt the attack could come at any moment; as a result, he decided to head to the Eternal Battlefield to strengthen himself.
