Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Chapter 816: There's Something Wrong with the Body

Lin Shen's blade sliced through the air as if it were a rotating chainsaw, cutting into the hardened ice that had frozen for a hundred million years. The Blade Qi eerily continued to spin and slice, much like a chainsaw, gradually chipping away at the ice.

"Success!" joy filled Lin Shen's heart.

Although it was somewhat troublesome at the beginning, fortunately, he had finally mastered it. Aside from the Hidden Strength Technique, Lin Shen had also drawn on some techniques from the Inheritance Fan, and at last, he had perfected this spinning chainsaw Blade Qi.

However, this was not the ultimate effect Lin Shen desired, it could only be considered basic operation.

What Lin Shen truly wanted was to keep the chainsaw-like spinning Blade Qi stationary in the air, silently spinning. If others were to walk into it, it would be tantamount to them seeking their own death. Your journey continues with My Virtual Library Empire

Imagine Lin Shen unleashing countless streams of Blade Qi – invisible and silent, like unseen and unheard chainsaws suspended in midair. Enemies would collide with them on their own, and however many came, that many would perish.

To achieve such an effect would require even greater control, and the demands on power control had already reached an almost fanatical level.

The reason Lin Shen was practicing so hard was that he had an idea. If he could truly accomplish this, he could set up his Blade Qi around the Ice Lotus in advance and then break out of Snow Valley.

As long as there was a sufficient amount of Blade Qi left beforehand, the Ice Lotus's attacks with its icy radiance would be hindered by those Blade Qi.

A single Blade Qi might not stop the ice light, but what about a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand?

Even if that still wasn't enough, all he needed was to buy a little time, allowing him to break free from the Ice Lotus's Law control area. He wouldn't need to teleport away – just being able to send out a message would suffice.

Fortunately, although Ice Lotus was formidable, it lacked the ability to move. As long as he could escape its Law control area, Lin Shen felt he should be able to get away.

Lin Shen had never worked as hard as he was now, swinging his sword countless times every day.

Apart from eating, sleeping, and resting, Lin Shen spent all his remaining time relentlessly wielding his sword.

Before he knew it, Lin Shen had grown accustomed to Chi Tianai bringing him food every day. He had to admit, the Princess Consort's choice was indeed exceptional; her culinary skills were truly extraordinary.

During this time, Lin Shen suddenly understood the saying that to capture someone's heart, one must first capture their stomach.

Lin Shen once thought that no matter how delicious the food, it couldn't possibly be better than what those top chefs made outside. With just this – how could one possibly capture someone's heart.

Yet, Chi Tianai made Lin Shen completely comprehend the true meaning of these words. Someone cooking for you every day, making dishes that completely fit your tastes and desires, that could only mean one thing – this person had spent a great deal of thought on you, understanding your preferences and habits to a T.

A person who puts such heart into their actions, not to mention retaining someone's affection, would find it difficult not to succeed in whatever they did.

"The women chosen by the Wang Family are indeed the best of the best," Lin Shen mused in his heart.

When the time for the meal arrived that day, Chi Tianai did not bring the food over, which left Lin Shen feeling somewhat unaccustomed, making him involuntarily glance towards Chi Tianai's wooden hut.

The door of the hut was closed, the windows were not open, and he couldn't hear any sounds coming from inside.

"What's going on?" Lin Shen wondered, hesitating over whether or not to check it out.

Usually, around this time, Chi Tianai should have already started cooking.

"Having cooked for such a long time, you must not want to cook anymore and need a rest," Lin Shen thought to himself. But after a while, he felt something was off.

After hesitating repeatedly, Lin Shen still walked over and knocked on the door, speaking fiercely, "What's going on with you? Why didn't you cook today?"

It took a moment before Lin Shen heard footsteps from inside, and shortly after, the door creaked open.

Lin Shen saw that Chi Tianai's face was unusually red, and her spirit seemed a bit off, giving off a listless vibe.

"Sorry, I'll go cook right now." With that, Chi Tianai walked out, heading for the kitchen to cook.

"What's wrong with you?" Lin Shen could tell something was not quite right with her body and asked with a frown.

"Just an old problem, it's nothing, it'll pass in a bit," Chi Tianai said indifferently, already entering the kitchen.

Worried she might suffer an accident, Lin Shen followed her into the kitchen. Watching Chi Tianai busy herself, he asked while covering his nose, "What kind of old problem is this? It's not contagious, is it?"

He didn't want to say such malicious words, but he really didn't want to get too close to Chi Tianai.

"It's not contagious. I had a little issue during my Nirvana, which left this ailment. Occasionally I feel a bit unwell, but it's nothing serious, I'll be fine in a bit. You don't need to worry," Chi Tianai said in her usual tender voice, which sounded weaker than usual.

"Who's worrying about you? If there's something wrong with your body, then don't cook. You might make something disgusting and ruin both my mood and appetite," Lin Shen felt a bit embarrassed.

If he had known, he wouldn't have come to bother Chi Tianai. Now he had made her uncomfortable, yet she still had to cook for him.

"It's okay, it doesn't affect me," Chi Tianai said with a smile, her hands never stopping as she continued her busyness.

"I said stop cooking. Can't you understand human speech?" Lin Shen grabbed Chi Tianai's wrist and pulled her out of the kitchen.

Chi Tianai didn't struggle, letting Lin Shen lead her out of the kitchen, toward her own cabin.

Lin Shen took Chi Tianai to her cabin and found that she had redecorated it. It looked cozier than before and was decorated with some odd but inexplicably cute dolls.

There was also a fat, big white cat on her bed, which was lying there watching them.

Lin Shen let go of Chi Tianai's hand, expecting her to be angry, but when he looked at her face, he saw she was still smiling. Though she lacked energy, her eyes were still as clear and gentle as ever.

"Mr. Enemy, you really don't have to worry. It's just a small issue, and I'll be fine soon," Chi Tianai said.

"What's with this woman? How can she not even have a temper?" Lin Shen wondered to himself.

"You're overthinking it. I just don't want anyone dying here, bringing bad luck," Lin Shen said coldly.

Chi Tianai didn't mind and sat down on her bed, picked up the white cat, and said with a twinkle in her eyes, "Mr. Enemy, although you speak harshly, you are actually a gentle person."

"Me, gentle? Are you blind?" Lin Shen glared at Chi Tianai ferociously, as if he was about to devour her alive.

Chi Tianai seemed not to notice Lin Shen's fierce demeanor at all and continued on her own, "My Nirvana was completed in the Immortal Land. Mr. Enemy, you know how dangerous that is, right? I overestimated myself back then and went against my family's advice to complete my Nirvana there. There were just some minor problems, and sometimes my body feels a bit uncomfortable."
