Summoning Pokémon in Naruto

Chapter 23: Chapter 23

"No, I can't. Please give it your all," Dekai said honestly.

"Hideki, did you hear that? He said it himself." Nawaki grinned widely, flashing his bright white teeth. "Then I'll trouble you to act as our referee."

Sarutobi Hideki frowned, concern etched across his face. He wasn't familiar with Dekai's abilities, but he knew Nawaki's skills like the back of his hand. Despite being prone to overconfidence, Nawaki was a natural talent in ninjutsu. As Orochimaru's student, his potential was undeniable. If Nawaki decided to take this fight seriously, Dekai would not stand a chance against him.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Hideki asked, glancing at Dekai. "We're here to find Uchiha Hayato. There's no need for you to fight him."

"Of course." Dekai smirked, a glint of mischief in his eyes as he motioned for Nawaki to step forward. "What's wrong? Is the future Hokage afraid of me? If you lose to me, how will you ever think of challenging Hayato?"

After spending time with Hayato, Dekai had become one of his most loyal followers. So what if Nawaki was the grandson of the First Hokage? Without experience all that strength is nothing, but talk.

"I understand." Hideki sighed, noticing the burning determination in Nawaki's eyes. He knew there was no stopping him now. Nawaki's stubbornness was like trying to stop a river with a straw—pointless and exhausting.

"Alright, then. Both of you, form opposing seals..."

"No need, Hideki. Let me be the referee," a voice interrupted from behind.

The three turned to see four young shinobi approaching. At the forefront stood a boy with the unmistakable Uchiha fan emblem on his clothing.

"So, this is Uchiha Hayato," Nawaki thought, momentarily startled. He grudgingly admitted Hayato might be better looking than him. But Hayato wasn't his concern right now—his focus was on teaching Dekai a lesson.

"Dekai, have you mastered that move yet?"

"Not completely, but I'm close," Dekai replied.

Hayato had provided Dekai with Thunder Flash, a move-learning tool that was one of the first items he had obtained. Limited to three uses, both Hayato and Minato had used it once each. Knowing Dekai didn't have a Pokémon companion, Hayato had given him the final use.

[T/N: Don't know where this item came from.]

The item proved highly effective—after one use, Dekai was already on the verge of mastering the move he taught them.

"When do we start?" Nawaki interrupted impatiently.

"Apologies, apologies. Let's start now," Hayato said, giving in to Nawaki's eagerness. He was curious to see how strong this ninja, infamous for dying to an explosive tag in the original story, really was.

"Alright, both sides, form opposing seals." Hayato and the others stepped back. "The fight begins the moment this ball hits the ground."

As the red-and-white ball hit the ground, Nawaki sprang into action.

"Wood Style Jutsu!"

Nawaki formed hand signs, and three thick wooden branches erupted from the ground, twisting and coiling toward Dekai like snakes.

"He's serious now. Wood Style is a secret technique of the First Hokage, and Nawaki doesn't use it lightly," Hideki explained, his expression conflicted. "I don't understand why you wouldn't stop your friend. Dekai can't win against Nawaki."

The group watched in awe as the wooden branches extended.

Minato squinted. "It doesn't look that impressive."

Hayato shook his head. Compared to the awe-inspiring Deep Forest Emergence of the First Hokage, even Yamato's Wood Style seemed like mere saplings. Nawaki's version barely managed a few thick branches.

"As the grandson of the First Hokage and a disciple of a Jonin, Nawaki carries many expectations," Hayato remarked to Hideki. "But sometimes, carrying too much weight is like biting off more than you can chew which can lead to disaster."

"Nawaki may have secret techniques, but Dekai has mastered his own. Never underestimate your opponent," Hayato said pointedly. With Nawaki's talent, surpassing Yamato was entirely within reach, but his overconfidence might lead him straight into trouble.

Hideki frowned, watching Dekai dart left, right, and upward, barely evading the wooden branches.

Suddenly, a branch shot out from behind, wrapping around Dekai's waist.

"So, this is all you've got?" Nawaki smirked confidently. In a forest, his Wood Style was even more powerful and concealed.

"Water Style: Water Bullet Jutsu."

"It's over," Hideki muttered, turning away, unable to watch what came next. "Caught by Wood Style—there's no escape."

"Is that so? The real fight starts now," Hayato said with a knowing smile. "Dekai has mastered it."

Dekai's body lit up with a blinding white glow as electricity crackled around him. The wooden bindings shattered with a loud crack.

"Thanks to the pressure you put on me, I've finally mastered it," Dekai said, removing his weighted wristbands. "Now, I'll finish you with this!"

Dekai disappeared and reappeared in front of Nawaki in a flash.

"So fast!" Nawaki's pupils shrank. Before he could react, Dekai's electrified punch sent him flying. His body hit the ground with a loud thud and shattered into wooden logs.

Nawaki reappeared nearby, his clothes scorched, his eyes filled with shock and frustration.

"Impossible! How could you move so fast?" Hideki exclaimed, staring at Dekai's electrified form. "How did you learn the Hidden Cloud's techniques?"

"That's not from the Hidden Cloud," Minato explained calmly. "It's something Hayato gave us. Thunder Flash electrifies the body, increasing speed and power. Dekai can use it for about ten seconds at most."

"You could see him clearly?" Hideki asked incredulously.

Minato shrugged. "What's so hard about that? Even the Hyuga heiress could see him clearly."

Hyuga Ruri, watching intently, added, "Oh, no, I couldn't see everything. But with more Byakugan training, I should be able to."

"Hayato, you can sustain it longer, can't you?" Minato asked, his sharp gaze fixed on him.

"Not by much—about a minute," Hayato replied, downplaying his true ability. In reality, he could sustain it for three minutes.

Worried about his strength after his battle with Uchiha Setsuna, Hayato had consumed all his experience candies at once, leaving none for his Chimchar.

With Thunder Flash, Dekai had grown remarkably strong, especially after his weighted training. Hideki watched the panting Nawaki and silently hoped he could at least lose with dignity.

"Impossible I will not lose Earth Style—"

"Sorry, your hand signs were just too slow," Dekai said as his electrified punch filled Nawaki's vision, growing larger and larger.
