Summoning Pokémon in Naruto

Chapter 18: Chapter 18 Kushina's Thoughts

[T/N: The author switched from Blaze to Koyake for chimchar's name keep it or change it.]

"Minato, what you need to do now is quickly learn how to climb trees and build a stronger bond with Pikachu," Uchiha Hayato said with a smile.

"I got it. Shadow Clone Jutsu!" Minato performed the jutsu, creating two clones that headed deeper into the untouched part of the forest. Pikachu, holding its bottle of milk, waddled cheerfully behind him.

"Let's train too, Blaze!"

Hayato patted the head of his Chimchar, whose eyes were filled with fighting spirit. It had been staring at Pikachu, clearly itching for a battle.

As Chimchar's final evolution, Infernape—a Fire and Fighting-type—was naturally battle-ready. Hayato wasn't surprised by its competitive attitude; in fact, he was pleased.

Not all Pokémon were suited for battle, even if they were strong. Some, like Slaking with its Truant ability, or Ash's rebellious Charizard, couldn't perform at their full potential.

Ash's Charizard, despite following him from its Charmander days, became prideful and disobedient after evolving. Hayato couldn't help but wonder if it ever reminisced about its adventures with Ash while watching Leon's Charizard dominate the World Coronation Series.

Snapping back to reality, Hayato patted Chimchar's head. "Blaze, don't worry. Pikachu has already evolved, but you've only just hatched. You'll surpass it someday, I'm sure of it."

[T/N: If anyone if confused Pichu is Pikachus previous evolution. Also ope there goes gravity.]

"Chim-chim!"

"And what about me? What kind of training should I do?" Kushina asked, tilting her head as she hugged her Pokémon egg. She had a feeling Hayato's training plan had overlooked her, but she wasn't sure if it was just her imagination.

"Kushina?" Hayato scratched his head. "Aren't you supposed to be watching the egg?"

"I can do that with a Shadow Clone!" Kushina huffed, instantly creating over a hundred clones, leaving Hayato a bit exasperated.

It seemed she was determined to figure out if she had truly been excluded.

"Kushina, I honestly think you're already very strong. I'm not sure how I could even help you train," Hayato said, genuinely unsure.

He wasn't just making excuses. From what he remembered, Kushina had once been bullied by a group of kids, including one who had already become a genin, yet she managed to turn the tables. Her strength was already comparable to a genin's at this stage.

Beyond the anime, Kushina's lineage as a member of the Uzumaki clan, with its abundant chakra reserves and mastery of sealing techniques, coupled with her future as the Nine-Tails' jinchūriki, meant her path in life was nearly preordained.

She could have lived as an ordinary kunoichi.

But could Hayato alter the course of the Nine-Tails jinchūriki's story? He sighed inwardly. Only if he displayed far greater strength could he hope to change the future.

As these thoughts crossed his mind, he looked at Kushina with a hint of pity.

Kushina, unaware, played with her red hair, her cheeks tinged pink.

"I'm not as amazing as you say…" she muttered, puffing her cheeks. "Hayato, it's not fair! I just want to be part of your training plans."

[T/N; Tsun Tsun?]

What she really wanted was to spend more time alone with him, to feel more valued. She felt a pang of sadness remembering how, after their first meeting, Hayato had helped her but treated her like an friend ever since.

Their days were full of structure—school, meals, training, and Pokémon interactions.

It was a happy routine, yet it some how felt... incomplete.

Kushina felt a deep ache for Hayato. His smile was always bright, but his actions seemed driven by an unseen pressure, constantly pushing himself and his companions to grow stronger. She, more than anyone, understood the dangers of war. Life could be lost in an instant.

But Hayato had never experienced war. Did he really need to push so hard?

She wanted to help him, to stand closer by his side, to share his burdens.

"Is… is that so?" Hayato stammered, flustered by Kushina's feelings. Despite his mature mindset, her emotions caught him off guard.

"Ha… haha… Well, Kushina, if there's anything you want to do, just let me know," Hayato said, awkwardly trying to cover his unease. "As long as it's not something unreasonable, I'll do it."

"Pfft," Kushina giggled, covering her mouth. She had never seen Hayato look so flustered—it was a far cry from his usual confident demeanor.

This side of him was even more endearing, she thought. Her laughter subsided, and her eyes lit up as an idea formed in her mind.

"Anything, you say?"

"Ahem, yes. Even if it's pulling a prank on the Hokage's Rock—just don't go overboard," Hayato replied.

In the Hokage's office, Sarutobi Hiruzen, watching through his crystal ball with a knowing smile, suddenly frowned. "What do you mean, pranking the Hokage Monument isn't going overboard?!"

Though annoyed, Hiruzen felt reassured. Hayato was still a child, with normal emotions and interests. If he were always cold and calculated like an adult, that would have been more concerning.

Kushina, meanwhile, imagined Hayato pulling off such a prank and couldn't help but laugh brightly.

"I wouldn't ask you to do that!" she said, handing her Pokémon egg to a clone before falling into thought.

"You Know!" she exclaimed after a moment, nodding enthusiastically. "I've got the perfect request, and I'm sure you can do it!"

"What is it?" Hayato asked, slightly apprehensive but determined to honor his word.

"Hehe, it's nothing difficult," Kushina said with a mischievous glint. "I wasn't born in this village, and even though I've been here over a month, I haven't had a proper tour. As someone born and raised here, I bet you can show me around, right?"

Her voice softened as she spoke, and she glanced shyly at Hayato to gauge his reaction.

"That's all? Of course, I can do that. Anytime you want," Hayato replied, relieved.

Turning to his Chimchar, he said, "Blaze, let's call it a day. You can rest in your Poké Ball or train with Minato and Pikachu."

Chimchar widened its eyes in disbelief. He had just been told they were training, and now Hayato was ditching him to go on a stroll with this woman?!

"Tomorrow, we'll train together. I'll even bring you a treat when I get back," Hayato promised.

"Chim!" Chimchar reluctantly agreed. It vowed to train secretly and amaze everyone someday.

"Let's go now!" Kushina cheered internally, instructing her clone to watch over the egg.

"Hey, can't you watch it yourself?" the clone grumbled. "I want to go on a date with Hayato too…"

"A-a date?!" Kushina's face turned scarlet. "It's not a date!"

"Then I'll go instead. You can stay home," the clone said, unyielding.

"Fine, it's just a date," Kushina huffed, determined to win the argument.

"A date? Sure," Hayato said with a gentle smile. "Let's go, Kushina."

With that, he took her hand and led her out of the training ground.
