Chapter 3: Strongest Lottery System in Pokémon World [3]
Chapter 3: First Task
Marcel smiled faintly at the gang leader's bold words.
"Laugh at you? Oh, no, no, no. Tell me, do you think it's a smart idea to release Pokémon and threaten a former Enforcer of the Pokémon League in public?"
He gestured toward the onlookers, many of whom were already on their phones. "See those people calling the police? If I were you, I'd run now. Maybe you'll get lucky and escape before Officer Jenny arrives."
The gang leader's confident smirk faltered as he glanced around. His expression soured when he noticed several passersby discreetly calling for the police.
Though gangsters might be impulsive, they weren't entirely brainless. He just hadn't considered the implications of openly threatening someone in public. And Marcel's words hit home—a public incident like this wouldn't just land them in trouble; it could make their lives miserable in prison.
"Let's get out of here!"
After a moment of hesitation, the gang leader cast one last hateful glare at Marcel before turning to leave.
Marcel didn't stop them. Arguing with a group of thugs? That was beneath him. Besides, they weren't the real target of his frustration. He wanted a proper conversation with the person who'd hired these goons to intimidate him. Clearly, someone thought he was too soft to fight back.
Just as Marcel was about to move on, a crisp ding echoed in his mind.
[A new task has been issued!]
[Task: Teach these Gangsters a Lesson!]
[Details: These gangsters violated the law and disrupted your peace. They deserve to learn a lesson. Confront them head-on.]
[Reward: Normal Lottery Ticket ×1]
Marcel's demeanor shifted instantly. The carefree smile vanished, replaced by a sharp, focused expression.
Straightening his posture, Marcel turned and called out to the retreating gang. "Hold on. You're leaving after spouting those threats? Did you even ask for my permission?"
The leader halted, glaring back at him. "What, you want to stop us?"
His crew erupted into laughter.
"Is that little Bulbasaur of yours supposed to scare us? My Arbok would eat it alive!" the leader sneered, earning more jeers from his men.
Marcel's patience wore thin. While he initially stopped them for the system mission, their arrogance now made it personal. They had to pay for their attitude.
Bulbasaur, sensing the mockery, growled angrily.
"Go on, kid, take your Bulbasaur and get lost before we make you regret it," the leader threatened. He was convinced Marcel was stalling for time, waiting for Officer Jenny to show up and save him.
The gang's Pokémon—Arbok, Ekans, Koffing, and a few others—slithered and hovered menacingly toward Marcel.
If this were the old Marcel, he'd have backed down in fear. But now? He remained calm.
With deliberate ease, Marcel took the Poké Ball from his waist and released Metagross.
A massive, turquoise Pokémon emerged with a metallic shimmer. Its enormous frame took up nearly a third of the street, its crimson eyes glowing ominously.
The gang froze, their bravado vanishing as they realized they were facing something far beyond their abilities.
"All right, Metagross," he said coolly. "Prevent them from leaving."
"What… what is this?!" the leader stammered, trembling as he realized his body wouldn't move. Apart from blinking and speaking, he was entirely immobilized.
"Relax," Marcel said, smirking. "I just made sure you can't run away."
"What are you planning to do to us?!"
"Oh, nothing too extreme," Marcel replied casually. "After all, I'm not some monster."
The leader exhaled shakily, relief washing over him—only for Marcel to snap his fingers.
"Metagross, let them fly a little."
With a loud whoosh, the gangsters soared into the air, screaming as they were flung upward and dropped back down repeatedly like human yo-yos.
Onlookers gasped, their eyes wide as the gang was tossed back and forth at least a dozen times.
By the time Metagross gently set them down, the gangsters were pale, trembling, and utterly defeated.
"See? I didn't even hit you," Marcel said with a shrug, feigning innocence.
"You—! You monster!" the leader yelled, his voice shaking with rage.
Before he could say another word, Metagross flicked its claw, sending a gentle wave of psychic energy that knocked him unconscious.
The other gangsters stared in horror, their tough personas crumbling.

The system's notification rang in Marcel's mind, but he ignored it for now.
In the distance, police sirens wailed, growing louder with every second.
Marcel turned and waved to the approaching Officer Jenny. "Over here!"
The remaining gangsters, hearing the sirens, let out sobs of relief. For the first time in their lives, they were grateful to see the police.
"This nightmare is finally over," one of them muttered, tears streaming down his face.
Another whispered bitterly, "We were just supposed to deliver a message! How did it turn into this?!"
