Strongest Demigod System

Chapter 79: Interruption

Azrael was surprised when he heard Cleopatra laugh from beside him.

"I really like how you speak to me, it's very refreshing. But you don't need to be afraid. Do you think I'm going to eat you? I just wanted to have a conversation…"

Azrael glanced to the side cautiously as Cleopatra put a hand on his shoulder and turned him around to face her.

"Forget about today then, I want to see you tomorrow before class. There'll be a car at the gate waiting for you, use it and come to me. Do you understand?"

Azrael nodded once.

In situations like these, it was best not to argue too much against someone who had more power than you.

Give them what they want and you'll be free to go.

Cleopatra smiled and touched Azrael's cheek softly as the elevator door opened. She was almost the same height as Azrael, so it was easy for her to reach up to him.

She leaned forward and spoke to Azrael in a low voice.

"Don't make me wait for you, or I'll be very unhappy."

Azrael could smell some expensive perfume on her, and her hand on his cheek sent a small jolt of electricity through his body that made goosebumps travel along his skin.

Azrael nodded again, and Cleopatra gave him a coy smile and turned to leave.

Once more, Azrael cursed his E-Rank luck.

The arena was brightly lit, and Azrael saw Sunny standing in the center of it with two simulation gloves in his hand.

The simulation room had a different apparatus for each weapon user.

Weapon users who specialized in bladed weapons and staffs used the long cylinder that could form into their weapon of choice.

But those that used gauntlets and other armor-type weapons used the gloves to make it form over their body.

They worked in the same manner as the cylinders, so the fighters didn't have to worry about causing any damage.

Azrael dropped his bag at the side and put on his glasses while walking to the center of the red circle in the middle of the room.

Throb!

The rot on his right hand throbbed in the tempo of his heartbeat, and he had to calm himself down so that it wouldn't cause him any issues in the fight.

Sunny looked downright pissed as he waited for Azrael to get ready. There was a glare scarring his face, and if looks could kill, Azrael would be dead ten times over!

Azrael knew that this was not going to be an easy fight.

This was Sunny Gaye, arguably the most powerful student in their entire year!

Sunny had accepted this fight with complete confidence that Azrael had no chance of beating him no matter what he did!

As far as Sunny was concerned, this fight was going to be a one-sided beating that would end with Azrael on the floor!

But Azrael needed to win this fight. His chances of getting the God Aspect he wanted depended on whether or not he could beat Sunny here.

Azrael knew that he used to be at the same level of Mortal strength as Sunny when they were in their last year of middle school, but that had been nearly a month ago, and a lot of things could happen in a month.

Sunny was being backed by the Ares Pantheon as well as his absurdly rich family.

Azrael wouldn't be surprised if Sunny had almost gotten to B-Rank in mortal strength ranking already.

But Sunny was a strength-based fighter, so Azrael was both faster and more balanced in terms of stats. If Azrael made Sunny tire out, then he might get a better chance of winning.

Azrael just had to be careful and watch for an opening.

Sunny put on his gloves and glasses and began to walk forward once Azrael prepared himself, and the simulation AI voice came to life around them.

[Combatants have been recognized in the arena. Please put your hand on the scanner for proper identification.]

Both Azrael and Sunny walked up to the opposite wall and put their hands on a screen that was prepared there. The screen blinked with a green light before the Simulation AI spoke up again.

[Student, Azrael Mortis, and student, Sunny Gaye have been identified. Both students are cleared and have been permitted to engage in combat. It is advised that the students follow the rules of the arena and listen to the referee's instructions at all times in order to prevent Academy Point deduction.]

The large circle in the middle of the room lit up with a red light, and the two students walked back toward it while keeping an eye on each other.

The cylinder in Azrael's hand elongated and formed into the meter-long katana he always used, and the gloves in Sunny's hand expanded into a pair of silver gauntlets covering his arm up to his elbows.

Sunny brought his right hand forward and put the other one behind his back, and Azrael readied his sword.

Azrael removed all distractions from his mind as he focused entirely on this moment.

No matter how much Azrael hated him, Azrael couldn't deny that Sunny was dangerous.

This wasn't going to be like the fight Azrael had with Maddison.

To Azrael, that had been nothing but a workout session. Maddison didn't pose enough of a threat.

But Sunny was different.

Sunny was stronger than Azrael and just as fast. He had an insanely high rank in battle instincts, and his senses were sharp enough to adapt to any situation.

There was only one person that Azrael truly had to be wary of in his entire year, and that person was Sunny.

If Azrael was not careful, Sunny was going to blitz him in a second and end the fight just like that.

The two of them were silent and sized each other up as they waited for a signal from the automated referee.

[Begin.]

[Battle Sense] has been activated.

Thwoom!

THWACK!

Sunny suddenly charged forward and a sound like the sound barrier breaking suddenly echoed from beside Azrael's head, but Azrael rolled just in time to avoid the massive blow from Sunny!

Sunny had unleashed a supersonic punch and if Azrael didn't move at that moment, then that punch would have hit his head!

There was a ringing sensation in Azrael's ear and Azrael tried his best to ignore it as he kept his eyes on Sunny!

Sunny was already on the offensive again as he unleashed a series of blows with that same hand!

BOOM!

BOOM!

CLANG!

CLANG!

CLANG!

Azrael dodged around two more supersonic punches before he started to deflect them using his sword.

Sunny was unrelenting in his attacks!

There was a flow and ebb to Sunny's movement where each blow seamlessly eased into the next blow, preventing Azrael from having even a moment to rest.

Azrael knew that this was not something that they learned in school, so that meant that Sunny must've learned it from some combat school outside Divine Academy.

Rich bastard.

Sunny planted his feet and threw three jabs at Azrael's body. Azrael dodged around the blows and used the opportunity to throw his first slash!

Sunny raised his gauntlet and used it to block the blow, but it turned out to be a feint as Azrael switched his grip and sent a stab toward Sunny's unprotected stomach!

Sunny took a step back and used his other hand to deflect the blade away from him.

Azrael brought his sword up and laughed.

Sunny frowned and got into a proper fighting stance.

Sunny had only been using one hand all this time, so it seemed like Sunny was trying to look down on Azrael, but Azrael's move forced Sunny to finally use his other hand, and that was what made Azrael laugh.

They both got ready for another clash and dashed forward –

[A non-combatant has been recognized. All combat has been put on hold.]

Both Azrael and Sunny stopped their advances when their weapons vanished from their hands.
