Sketching her Shadows

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: The Path to the Past

Satya stood across from Saanvi, the weight of his words hanging in the air between them. The evening sun cast a soft golden glow over the fort, but his gaze remained focused on her, waiting for her to understand what he was offering.

"Saanvi, there's something I need to tell you," Satya said, his voice low but urgent. "If you visit the places I've been—places where I've been searching for answers—you might find more than just clues. You might uncover memories that are still buried deep inside you."

Saanvi frowned slightly, her mind racing with questions. "What do you mean? You think if I go to these places... I'll remember something? About our past?"

Satya nodded, his eyes intense with the conviction of what he believed. "Yes. You were raised in that palace, in that world, and unlike me, who only worked there as a sketch artist, you were part of it. The memories are hidden inside you, just waiting to be unlocked."

Saanvi bit her lip, uncertain. She had always felt a strange connection to the places Satya spoke of—the old palace, the abandoned estate—but she had never fully understood why. Now, hearing him speak of it so passionately, she wondered if there was more to her past than she had ever realized.

"Are you saying... that I might have memories of our past life?" she asked, her voice almost a whisper.

"I believe so," Satya said gently. "I'm certain of it. We've been searching for answers, but I think it's you who holds the key. The palace was your home. Your family... they were part of that world. You were raised to know the palace, the people, and the secrets within it. If you go back there, to those places, you might uncover what's been hidden from you."

Saanvi stood silently for a moment, her eyes clouded with thought. The idea seemed impossible, yet somehow, it felt right. There was an unsettling sense of truth in Satya's words, as if they were just scratching the surface of something far deeper.

"But what if I can't remember?" she asked, her voice filled with doubt. "What if I go there and nothing comes back to me?"

Satya placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, his touch warm and comforting. "It's not about forcing the memories. It's about allowing yourself to feel what's there. The places we've been, the people we've met, they hold the key. You don't have to rush. Just let it happen naturally. Trust your instincts."

Saanvi took a deep breath, feeling the weight of his words settle into her heart. There was so much about her past she didn't understand, and the idea of uncovering it now—of piecing together a life she had forgotten—felt both terrifying and exhilarating.

"I'm scared," she admitted, her voice trembling slightly. "What if I find out something I'm not ready to know?"

Satya smiled softly, his gaze tender. "You won't be alone. I'll be with you every step of the way. Whatever you uncover, we'll face it together. We've been through so much already, and we're only just beginning."

Saanvi looked at him, her heart beating a little faster. She didn't know what lay ahead, but she knew one thing for certain: Satya was right. They were connected in a way she couldn't fully explain, and now, she had a chance to uncover the truth about their past.

"I'll go," she said finally, her voice steady. "I'll go to the palace. I'll find the answers."

Satya's eyes shone with pride and relief. "Thank you. I know this isn't easy, but I believe in you. And I believe that we'll find what we're searching for."

The promise of the unknown hung heavy in the air as they stood together, knowing that the journey ahead would change everything. Saanvi was ready to face her past, and with Satya by her side, she felt ready to discover the truth.
