Sketching her Shadows

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: A Name from the Past

Satya sat on the edge of his bed, his laptop open in front of him. The sketches of the mysterious girl were scattered across his desk, some crumpled from frustration. He had searched everywhere—through old records, libraries, even historical archives—but nothing had given him a real lead.

"Maybe I've been looking in the wrong place."

A sudden thought struck him. What if he used technology instead of history?

A Digital Trail

He picked up his phone and opened Google Reverse Image Search. Taking a deep breath, he scanned one of his sketches—the most detailed one, the one that felt closest to her real face.

The search processed for a few seconds. Then—

A result.

His heart pounded as he clicked the link. A Facebook profile appeared before him.

Saanvi Rathore.

Satya's breath caught in his throat. He clicked on her pictures. The more he scrolled, the more his chest tightened.

It was her.

Different time, different setting, but there was no doubt in his mind—this was the girl who had haunted his dreams, the girl he had drawn countless times without ever seeing her before.

"Meera..." he whispered, though the name on the screen said otherwise.

He scrolled through her profile, searching for clues. Then he saw it—her college name listed in her bio.

She had studied at a university in another city.

"I have to go there."

Chasing the Past

The next morning, Satya packed a bag and boarded a train. His mind was racing.

For the first time, he had something solid. A name. A location. Proof that he wasn't imagining everything.

Hours later, he arrived at Saanvi's college. The air buzzed with students, but she wasn't there anymore—she had already graduated.

He made his way to the fine arts department.

An old professor there recognized the name immediately.

"Saanvi Rathore? Oh yes, she was one of our most talented students. Always lost in thought, as if she was searching for something in her art."

Satya swallowed. She was searching, just like me…

Another student chimed in.

"She was obsessed with historical paintings. Used to talk about how certain places felt 'familiar' to her, even though she had never been there before."

A chill ran down Satya's spine.

She remembered something.

Maybe not everything, but something deep inside her had been calling out to the past—just like it had for him.

But now, she was gone.

The trail hadn't ended.

It had only just begun.
