Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Aunt Isa
"When we were in the office, Lar's father was aggressive, and you stepped up to defend me and Noah."
Rossweise applied medicine to the wound, threw the cotton swab into the trash can, and said, "I thought you'd be happy to see me make a fool of myself."
Leon shook his hand, the warmth from Rossweise's leg still lingering on his palm. "I… Of course, I'd love to see you get tongue-tied by someone else. Seeing you embarrassed makes me happier than anything."
Rossweise tilted her head, smiling. "Then why did you step in so righteously?"
"Hey, how can you call that righteous? Even though we'd rather avoid each other for the rest of our lives, you're still, at the very least, my—"
Rossweise raised an eyebrow and asked with interest, "Your what?"
Leon turned his eyes away, lowered his voice several notches, and mumbled, "My wife… If someone points at my wife's nose and curses her, how could I just sit there and do nothing? Wouldn't that make me a coward? Also, I wasn't entirely standing up for you; I was mainly doing it for Noah. Yes, for Noah."
[T/N: Sure, sure. Keep up the tough talk, you two.]
Rossweise snorted softly, raising her hand to tuck her hair behind her ear.
Leon just noticed the small braid he had woven into her hair when she was unconscious. She had kept it intact all this time.
Seeing this, Leon felt secretly smug.
'Look at that—my aesthetic sense is absolutely top-notch.'
"My sister just sent a message," Rossweise said.
"She's coming to visit again?"
Rossweise shook her head. "She's inviting us to visit her with our daughters. Are you coming?"
"I'm not going," Leon said, shaking his head.
"Alright, if you're not going, let's settle some old scores."
"I'll go." Leon caved immediately.
"Great. Once Noah's break starts the day after tomorrow, we'll set off."
———
The sound barrier shattered in the clouds, and the silver dragon soared across the sky.
Leon sat cross-legged on Rossweise's back, holding Luna, who had fallen asleep again after getting up too early.
"What kind of person is your sister?"
"Enthusiastic, lively, talkative, cheerful."
Leon pondered, "So, in short, the complete opposite of you?"
Rossweise wanted to refute but realized that the impression she had given Leon was indeed the opposite of her.
After thinking about it, Rossweise added another point, "But she's more devious than me."
Leon was shocked. "There's actually a dragoness in this world more devious than you?"
"For the first 50 years of my life, I spent all my time with my sister. I know her better than anyone."
Rossweise said, "So, be on high alert when we meet her. She'll come up with ways to mess with you that you can't even imagine."
Leon chuckled and replied indifferently, "Besides you, I have no interest in interacting with any other adult dragoness."
After those words, Rossweise's dragon wings visibly trembled slightly, causing a minor jolt in her body.
Then she heard Leon muttering, "Once is more than enough for this lifetime."
Rossweise wasn't sure if he was doing it on purpose, but she still retorted stiffly, "Don't say nonsense."
Leon (innocent): "But I'm just speaking from the heart."
'This darn dragoness doesn't even let me speak my mind now.'
Leon turned to his eldest daughter. "Noah, have you met Aunt Isa before?"
Noah shook her head. "I've only seen Aunt Isa in photos in Mom's room. Last time she visited, I was still in training."
"So, only you in this whole family have actually met your sister?"
"That's true. So, my sister is quite looking forward to this meeting."
Rossweise said, "Alright, hold tight; we're speeding up."
Another sonic boom echoed as the silver figure vanished into the horizon.
———
Three hours later, Leon's family arrived in red dragon territory.
From above, the Red Dragon Sanctuary and its clan looked similar in scale to Rossweise's Silver Dragon Clan. The architectural styles were also quite similar.
However, where silver ornaments represented the Silver Dragon Clan, they were replaced with red here.
Despite the similarities in design, the unique features of the red clan added an interesting flair.
Rossweise landed slowly in the front yard of the Red Dragon Sanctuary.
Her sister Isa and several dragon maids were already waiting.
The moment they landed, Leon slid down from Rossweise's dragon wings, still holding Luna, with Noah following closely behind.
Before they could turn around, Isa's voice called out, "Little Rose! Your dragon form is still so cool~"
Looking back, the once poised and elegant Red Dragon Queen was now affectionately hugging Rossweise's dragon head.
Rossweise drooped her wings, and her tail sagged helplessly. "Sis... Let me change back first."
"Oh, oh, alright, go ahead."
Rossweise folded her wings, and with a flash of light, reverted to her human form.
"Little Rose!"
Even in human form, Isa's exuberant hug couldn't be avoided.
Judging by Rossweise's reaction and expression, she seemed used to this style of greeting from her sister.
What surprised Leon slightly was that while Rossweise was tall—around 1.7 meters barefoot and up to 1.75 with heels—in her sister's arms, she was still shorter by a bit.
Leon glanced down at Luna, who was about as tall as his shin, silently hoping that the tall genes of the Melkvei family would perfectly pass on to his daughters.
"Sis, let me introduce you to my husband and daughters. You haven't officially met yet."
"Sure, sure."
Isa straightened up her hair before walking with Rossweise toward Leon and the two girls.
"This is my husband, Leon Casmodeous."
Leon, out of courtesy, was about to greet her first, but Isa grabbed his hand and said, "Brother-in-law, finally meeting you awake."
Isa looked him up and down. "Indeed, you and Little Rose look very compatible together."
Leon awkwardly laughed and shook her hand. "Haha, you're so funny, sister-in-law."
"Don't call me sister-in-law. That's too formal. Just call me sister like Little Rose does."
"Alright, sister-in-law."
"Little Rose, is your husband still half-asleep?"
Rossweise elbowed Leon gently, prompting him to immediately correct himself. "Just kidding, sis."
"Interesting. Little Rose, I really like your husband's personality. He's as unserious as I am."
Rossweise covered her face with one hand. "Sis, you're aware that you're unserious?"
After Leon, Rossweise introduced their daughters.
"These are our daughters, Noah and Luna. The elder is—"
"Wait! Let me guess." Isa interrupted, excitedly starting a guessing game.
Her gaze shifted between the two little ones before she pointed at Luna. "This one with the ahoge is the elder sister."
"I'm the younger one, Auntie," Luna replied, shaking the ahoge on her head.
"Oh, I guessed wrong. Little Luna, come let Auntie hug you."
Luna, being naturally social, immediately let go of Leon's hand and rushed into Isa's soft embrace.
"How does Auntie know my name?" Luna asked.
"I visited you when you were little. Your mom told me your name. The younger one is Luna, and the elder is Noah."
As she spoke, Isa looked at Noah.
Compared to her sister, Noah was genuinely shy. She nervously pinched the hem of Rossweise's dress, retreating slightly.
Rossweise didn't force Noah to interact. She always respected her daughter's wishes.
But after some hesitation, Noah stepped out from behind Rossweise and said, "Hello, Auntie. My name is Noah."
"Little Noah, would you like Auntie to hug you too?"
Previously, Rossweise had mentioned in her letter that Noah was a little girl who wasn't very good at talking and usually didn't like physical contact with others.
That's why Isa didn't directly pick her up just now, and instead, she asked for her opinion.
Noah nodded, "I want to."
"Alright~"
Isa used both hands to hold Luna, and with her flexible tail, gently wrapped it around Noah's waist, then handed her over into her arms.
Leon silently complained in his heart: 'That's pretty convenient, huh!'
With a little dragon girl on each side, Isa hugged them left and right, feeling like she was about to be completely enchanted.
"Sss~ Hah~ So blissful. Little Rose, do you get to cuddle such adorable little dragon girls every day?"
"Ah, I'm usually a bit busy. It's generally Leon who looks after them."
"Oh, oh, then thanks for the hard work, brother-in-law."
"No problem, it's not hard. I enjoy taking care of kids."
After thinking for a moment, Leon took the opportunity to add,"The kids are also closer to me."
Rossweise froze for a moment, raised her eyebrow, and looked at Leon. "Clearly, they're closer to me, aren't they?"
"Wife, you're so funny."
"Do I look like I'm joking with you?"
"Alright, alright, fine, closer to you, closer to you. I'll let you have this one."
"Do I need you to let me have it?"
Isa: "Wow, you two have such a great relationship."
Faced with Isa's compliment, which didn't align with reality, the couple instantly stopped bickering and responded in unison:"It's just okay."
Isa, already used to this, simply smiled without saying anything.
"Alright, alright, you've traveled such a long way; you must be tired. Come in and rest for a while. Dinner will be ready soon."
Isa, holding the two little dragon girls, walked ahead, leading Leon and Rossweise into the sanctuary.
