Shin Megami Tensei: New Domain

( Ena's POV )

At the top of the screen, it said party, and below were some pictures of Pixie and me with simple stats next to them, The stats were strength (St), magic (Ma), Endurance (En), Agility (Ag) and Luck (Lu), my stats were pretty balanced with St and Ag being the highest and Lu being the lowest, There was also a + symbol next to my Ma, I guess that's the advantage of forming a contract with this demon.

With the contract completed, I continued on my way to school, she had a lot of essential information but that had to wait until we got to school for now I asked her to tell me how to use magic, She told me that I had to move the demonic energy inside me to the palm of my hands and think about the magic I wanted to use.

Using my previous experiences, I quickly got the hang of it, but I could only do four consecutive attacks before losing concentration, I kept practicing, but I stopped when I suddenly felt a little dizzy.

Ena: Ugh, what was that?

Pixie: You are running out of energy, don't worry, you will get used to the feeling.

Ena: and how do I get energy back?

Pixie: well a rest should replenish your reserves.

Ena: not an option.

Pixie: The energy in the air is sometimes concentrated in crystals that can replenish your energy, but the air in this place is somewhat... how to put it, dry.

Ena: Anything else?

Pixie: You could absorb the energy of other demons or humans if they are available.

Ena: Why didn't you tell me that before I emptied my entire tank?

Pixie: Hey! You're the one who wanted to learn how to use magic.

Ena: Yeah, you're right, I'm sorry Let's find some easy prey.

I pulled out my map again to look for a small group of enemies but I put that on hold the moment I saw a vending machine, my mouth was a little dry so I started kicking the machine until the thing gave me some cans of ice coffee, after one drink I felt strangely revitalized, as if it had replenished my new demonic energy.

Ena: Hey Pixie, try some of this.

Pixie: What is that?

Ena: A human drink that can restore energy.

I had Pixie try the cold coffee to confirm if it had the same effect on other creatures, and after a few sips, Pixie's eyes widened.

Pixie: Oh this is delicious! I feel full of energy, humans are really amazing

Having tested the usefulness of canned drinks, I filled a bag with it, and we continued on our way, I was on my phone trying to find other useful functions while Pixie was on alert for more enemies.

My research resulted in a page that showed the skills I could use, ice magic, and next to it was a Lv. 0 mark, and below that was written force magic Lv. 1 in a different color, there were other things marked with question marks and at the end of the page there was a unique skill section, that said 'unlimited growth Lv. Ex' that sounded really good, but I couldn't touch it to see more details, I think that has something to do with what happened in my fight with the bicorns.

While I was thinking, my phone screen changed to the map, and it showed me three enemies ahead.

Pixie: Master, enemies ahead!

Ena: Yes, thanks for the heads up.

We got behind some rubble and saw a small group of demons, they were two-legged dog people wearing leather armor and carrying long clubs.

I pointed my phone's camera at them and then a screen with information about them appeared on the app, They were a type of demon called Kobolds and the rest of the information was in question marks, I guess I would have to fight to get more information, I guess that worked, I needed

an extra pair of hands to make my trip more pleasant.

Ena: Let's try to form another contract, leave one alive.

Pixie: you got it, boss!

We got as close as we could, we were on opposite sides surrounding the group, and when I gave the signal, we began our assault.

Pixie: ZAN!

Pixie used her magic to create a small whirlwind at the feet of one of the Kobolds, which did good damage but it wasn't enough, I tried my revolver once more and luckily I was close enough to hit one in the chest, When one fell the rest of the Kobolds looked around for their attackers and I didn't make it difficult for them as I jumped out of my cover.

One of the Kobolds ran at me with his mace raised and I used my shotgun to blast a hole in his chest, he dropped his mace which rolled at my feet, When only one enemy remained Pixie emerged from her cover and the two of us slowly approached, the last Kobold tightened his grip on his mace but he stopped when I raised my shotgun again.

Ena: I wouldn't do that if I were you unless you want to join the other two.

'Grrrr'

Ena: There is no need for that either, I have a long-term deal for you, I want you to fight alongside me.

The Kobold couldn't speak, but I could feel my message getting through, and when I received the message on the phone to form a contract, I knew it was a success.

We came out of that encounter with an extra ally and a club from one of the Kobolds for my main weapon, Wñwith that we took a more direct route to the school but when the building was in sight another problem arose, I could see a small battalion of demons trying to get into the place, I was ready to fight but I didn't have enough bullets for all of them.
