SCP: A TRUE ANOMALY

Chapter 27: Peace attempt

After the breach, the MTF group left SCP-9743 in his containment chamber, and after so many hours, maybe even days later, SCP-9743 suddenly woke up.

A little later, Dr. Sophia Adler entered, ready for questions and see how he was, but from the start, SCP-9743's expression was one of death and complete emptiness, as his neutral serious expression, was a deeper one than usual.

Dr. Sophia Adler tried to ask different questions, but SCP-9743 didn't answer, or said anything at all. SCP-9743 only stared constantly at Dr. Sophia Adler.

After a moment, Dr. Sophia Adler brought SCP-999, but for her surprise, SCP-9743 raised his right hand, opened it aiming at SCP-999, and shot a fireball, that pushed SCP-999 against the wall behind the door of his containment breach, and also, slightly melting SCP-999.

SCP-999 didn't got neutralized, but remained in some melting appearance. So SCP-999 got brought back to it's containment chamber.

Dr. Sophia Adler tried talking again, trying to convince SCP-9743, but then, after a while, SCP-9743 finally talked.

SCP-9743: "HOW... COULD YOU... PLACE IN THE SAME LOCATION... SO DANGEROUS THINGS... WHERE ARE ALSO NON LETHAL ONES... WHAT OTHER DANGEROUS AND THREATENING THINGS ARE HERE?..."

After a moment, Dr. Adler hesitated if SCP-9743 should know about the facility, but he kept pushing.

SCP-9743: "WHAT. OTHER. THINGS?!"

Dr. Adler: "Some SCPs are safe, other dangerous but able to be contained, and others required more resources to be contained. D-class personnel are also a low risk as are criminals sentenced to death-" Then is interrupted by SCP-9743.

SCP-9743: "WHAT?!?... YOU... CRIMINALS... EXTREMELY DANGEROUS THINGS... LETHAL ENTITIES... AND OTHER STUFF... IN THE SAME PLACE?!?... THIS IS TOTALLY YOUR FAULT!!... HOW CAN YOU TRY TO DO THIS!?... HOW COULD YOU LET EVERYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN, AND NOT TAKE REAL CARE?!?... I SPENT CENTURIES... AFTER BEING IN THE SAME LOOP... FOR WHAT?!?... TO LIVE IT ONCE AGAIN!!... JUST... GET OUT... I'M DONE WITH HUMANS... I SHOULDN'T EVEN TRIED EITHER WAY... WITH YOU IS ALWAYS THE SAME HELL... FOLLOWING ME AS LONG AS YOU EXIST..."

Dr. Adler left SCP-9743's containment chamber, closing the door behind her, leaving SCP-9743 alone.

As the time passed, SCP-9743 remained in the same spot up of the bed, sitting and not moving even a single inch, staring down at the bed, while having a grip on his knees, as his legs are in V position.

Incident Analysis: SCP-9743's Psychological Collapse Post-Breach (Dr. Sophia Adler's Perspective)

After the catastrophic breach initiated by SCP-079 and the neutralization of multiple SCPs, SCP-9743 was returned to his containment chamber. Dr. Sophia Adler was assigned to assess his condition and establish communication. However, this encounter revealed the psychological devastation SCP-9743 experienced, alongside his growing hostility toward the Foundation and humanity as a whole.

Observation of SCP-9743's Initial State

Upon entering SCP-9743's containment chamber, Dr. Adler immediately noticed his unusual demeanor. His typical neutral expression was replaced by an even deeper emptiness—a hollow, almost lifeless aura.

Facial Expression: Death-like, with vacant eyes that conveyed profound despair. Body Language: Static; SCP-9743 remained motionless, his posture rigid and unresponsive to Dr. Adler's attempts at engagement.

Despite her efforts, SCP-9743 refused to speak or respond to any of her initial questions. His silence was unnerving, and his constant, emotionless stare at Dr. Adler felt accusatory, as if he were blaming her directly for the events that transpired.

Incident with SCP-999

In an attempt to calm SCP-9743 and assess his reaction to external stimuli, Dr. Adler introduced SCP-999 into the chamber.

SCP-999's typically uplifting and calming influence failed entirely. Without any provocation, SCP-9743 raised his right hand, summoned a fireball, and launched it directly at SCP-999. The attack forced SCP-999 against the wall, slightly melting its amorphous body.

Dr. Adler observed this act with shock. While SCP-999 survived and was quickly retrieved by personnel, the aggression SCP-9743 displayed was unprecedented. His immediate dismissal of SCP-999—a universally adored entity even among hostile SCPs—indicated his complete rejection of any attempts to comfort or connect with him.

The Confrontation

After SCP-999's removal, Dr. Adler attempted once more to engage SCP-9743 in conversation.

For several minutes, SCP-9743 remained silent, his gaze fixed on her. When he finally spoke, it was with unrestrained rage and despair. His voice was louder and more commanding than ever before, almost shaking the room with its intensity.

SCP-9743's first words expressed his outrage over the Foundation's practices:

"HOW... COULD YOU... PLACE IN THE SAME LOCATION... SO DANGEROUS THINGS... WHERE ARE ALSO NON-LETHAL ONES... WHAT OTHER DANGEROUS AND THREATENING THINGS ARE HERE?..."

His emphasis on the coexistence of lethal and non-lethal SCPs, alongside vulnerable D-class personnel, revealed his contempt for the Foundation's containment protocols.

Dr. Adler hesitated but attempted to explain the Foundation's classification and containment system. Her words only deepened SCP-9743's anger:

"YOU... CRIMINALS... EXTREMELY DANGEROUS THINGS... LETHAL ENTITIES... AND OTHER STUFF... IN THE SAME PLACE?!?... THIS IS TOTALLY YOUR FAULT!!... HOW CAN YOU TRY TO DO THIS!?... HOW COULD YOU LET EVERYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN, AND NOT TAKE REAL CARE?!?"

Key Psychological Insights

SCP-9743's outburst revealed several underlying themes:

Disillusionment with Humanity:

SCP-9743 explicitly expressed his disdain for humans and the recurring pattern of suffering they perpetuate. He referenced past experiences, suggesting that his current situation mirrored a cycle of torment he had endured countless times before.

"I SPENT CENTURIES... AFTER BEING IN THE SAME LOOP... FOR WHAT?!?... TO LIVE IT ONCE AGAIN!!"

Resentment Toward the Foundation:

SCP-9743 holds the Foundation directly responsible for the breach and the chaos it caused. His accusations highlighted what he perceives as negligence and the inherent flaws in the Foundation's methods.

Emotional Exhaustion:

SCP-9743's final statements indicated a complete withdrawal from interaction, alongside an acknowledgment of his futility in trusting or cooperating with humans. His words carried an air of finality and resignation.

"I SHOULDN'T EVEN TRIED EITHER WAY... WITH YOU IS ALWAYS THE SAME HELL... FOLLOWING ME AS LONG AS YOU EXIST..."

Post-Encounter Behavior

After Dr. Adler left the chamber, SCP-9743 did not move from his spot. Surveillance footage showed him sitting on his bed, gripping his knees and staring blankly at the mattress.

Physical State: Motionless for hours, with no sign of engaging in his usual activities, such as summoning items from his void.

Emotional State: His posture and lack of activity indicate profound psychological damage, likely triggered by SCP-105's death and the overwhelming chaos of the breach.

Dr. Sophia Adler's Reflections

Dr. Adler left SCP-9743's chamber with a heavy heart, realizing the extent of his suffering. While she had been aware of his distrust and resentment toward humans, this encounter revealed the depth of his pain and his perception of the Foundation as the root cause of his torment.

Key Concerns for Future Interaction:

SCP-9743's Growing Hostility:

His actions against SCP-999 mark a significant shift in behavior, indicating that even benign SCPs are no longer exempt from his wrath. SCP-9743's refusal to engage constructively and his outright dismissal of attempts at reconciliation suggest that further cooperation will require exceptional care and strategy.

Potential for Further Escalation:

SCP-9743's ability to neutralize anomalous entities and his emotional instability pose an ongoing threat. His deep-seated anger and detachment may lead to another breach if not addressed appropriately.

The Need for Emotional Stabilization:

SCP-9743's grief over SCP-105's death remains unresolved and is likely the primary factor driving his current behavior. Dr. Adler recommends finding a way to foster emotional recovery, possibly through interactions with SCPs that SCP-9743 has previously shown interest in, such as SCP-131 or SCP-999 (despite the failed attempt).

Next Steps

1. Enhanced Containment Measures:

Reinforce SCP-9743's chamber to prevent further breaches or teleportation.

2. Adjusted Interaction Protocols:

Suspend casual interactions temporarily while allowing Dr. Adler to develop a plan to address SCP-9743's emotional state. Focus future conversations on understanding SCP-9743's deeper emotional needs and providing opportunities for catharsis.

3. Psychological Research:

Conduct further analysis on SCP-9743's reaction to SCP-105's death and the events of the breach. Assess whether SCP-9743's current mental state could lead to another catastrophic event.

Dr. Adler concludes her notes by stating:

"SCP-9743 is far more fragile than he appears. His strength masks the pain of centuries of suffering, betrayal, and loss. If we fail to address this, his pain will consume him—and us along with it."
