Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Blood dripped from Sunny's nose as he stood over the third opponent he had been forced to fight. He was in hell, or rather, he thought he had always been. Wiping blood from his nose, Sunny turned to the blinding lights that pierced through the cage he was locked in with squinted eyes.

Distorted voices assaulted his senses, he couldn't make out faces. Dark silhouettes danced across his vision as he saw another opponent step in the cage with him. A grown man, tattoo's traced across his body with a golden tooth reflecting the shining lights.

Before Sunny knew what had happened, they were upon one another. The vague memories of getting a fist slammed into his ribs tore through his mind. Visions of his hands pressed around the neck of the larger man, draining him of life till he fell at his feet.

Dead.

Golden locks flashed through his vision; his head craned upwards to witness the sight of a man. His eyes had blurred out of his memory, but Sunny was sure they were a gruesome sight to see. Black leathered gloves contacted his hair as they ran through it roughly, praise being echoed from his mouth that Sunny could no longer remember.

With a jolt, Sunny leapt upwards. His eyes bloodshot as he gripped onto the sheets of his bedding. All of his senses had gone into overdrive as his jaw trembled. Slowly, a hand extended and grasped his head, taking a ball of hair along with it.

His breathes came out as uneven pants as he struggled to contain himself. Two pale hands snaked their way around his body, pulling him into a hug. "No, stay away!" Sunny exclaimed, shifting his body to escape their grasp yet they held firm.

Twisting his body, he moved to face his suspected assailant, his lip still trembling in terror. Nephis silver hair came into view as his face became only inches away from her own, "Nephis? What are you doing here? You're not trapped here with me are you!?"

His barrage of questions only caused her to hold him tighter, restraining him from his attempts to escape out the nearest window. "Sunny, calm down. You're safe." Her tone was soft and calming, Sunny's muscles relaxed slowly like a loaded spring as he let out a shaky breathe.

"What happened? The last thing I remember was your cooking." Sunny shakily asked, Nephis maintained her hold on him as she ran a hand through his hair. Sunny didn't seem to notice or care about this fact though, or the physical intimacy he was suddenly being shown.

"You saw a man with golden hair, and then you passed out." Her explanation was curt but to the point, she felt Sunny's muscles stiffen in her arms at the mention of golden hair as his jaw began to tremble once more.

"Listen to me Neph, don't ask any questions and just listen to me. If you see a man with golden hair, pretend like you've never met me. No, even better, condemn my existence outright! Just don't let him know that you've ever met me."

Sunny's eyes flashed red for a moment as they remained focused on Nephis own, the burning sense of urgency that radiated through his tone never dissipated until Nephis nodded slowly as Sunny relaxed in her arms.

Suddenly, the realisation of their close contact emerged in his mind. Sunny's face quickly flushed red as he felt Nephis soft chest pressed against his own. "Are you sure you want to...keep hugging me? Not that I mind of course!" His eyes frantically danced around the room before Nephis hand firmly grasping his chin settled him.

"I'm fine, you were thrashing about in your sleep and holding you settled you down." The faint pink tint on her ears went unnoticed by Sunny as he slowly nodded. Before he could allow embarrassment to simmer into his soul once more, a realisation struck him.

"We need to go to school!" Sunny shifted to get to his feet however Nephis didn't let him, an exasperated sigh escaped her lips as she raised an eyebrow. "You do know it's the weekend, right? Who goes to school on a weekend?"

Shrugging his shoulders slightly, Sunny realised that Nephis had been the only one hugging him. It was quite unfair really; she had saved him from jumping out of the window to escape seemingly unfamiliar surroundings and he hadn't bothered to help her.

In a single fluid motion, he wrapped his arms around Nephis, burying his head into her neck without saying a word. Nephis eyes widened, her face flushing pink as she took in the contact. 'He smells, amazing! And he's so soft too!' she screamed internally as the two held each other.

"Thank you, for everything." Sunny mumbled; his voice still supressed by the fact his face was pressed against Nephis. She could only nod lest she let out a stutter from the sheer embarrassment. Eventually, two Nephis own disdain the two separated.

"I should probably shower, I stink." Sunny grumbled, escaping her hold from him and grabbing a towel before making his way to the bathroom. As he shut the door, he pressed his back against it while holding a hand to his face, flushing red with embarrassment once more.

"Hugging her out of the blue? While you haven't even showered no less! She probably thinks you're a freak, do better Sunless!" he berated himself, although he had no clue on how to operate with the opposite gender, aside from warped interactions he'd rather not remember, he knew that his code of conduct was not the proper way.

Just outside his room, Nephis took a moment to study the surroundings of the room before sinking her face into Sunny's pillow. She had been frozen stiff with embarrassment and now that Sunny had left it came pouring out of her in droves.

"What am I thinking, hugging him as he sleeps? But he smells so damn good." In one moment, she took a deep breathe in, inhaling the air that still had Sunny's lingering scent wafting about it.

Taking a second to look around, she noticed the drastic changes that had occurred in the room that had once been for guests. Sunny's loose hairs hung across the bed like a cat that had shed, and everything was supremely neat and arranged.

It wasn't how it once was, but it felt...good.

The sound of water colliding with ceramic echoed through the room as her eyes widened. Sunny was showering. At any moment he could stop, exiting the bathroom thinking he was alone only for her to be there. Gazing upon Sunny's form in such a predicament would be deeply...intriguing. But alas she had to restrain herself.

Silently, she made her way out of his room and into her own. Now that the distance between the two had increased, she had time to review what had happened to Sunny. As soon as he witnessed the sight of a man named Gilead, Sunny had passed out with horror painted across her face.

Scrolling through her phone, her eyes narrowed as she took in his form. What type of man was he? Even in the profile picture he wore, he looked pleasant and hospitable, a long list of martial arts he could teach listed in his profile. And yet, the look in Sunny's eyes wasn't easily forgotten.

Unconsciously, Nephis grip on the communicator tightened. Although her movements were limited when acting against someone like Caster, seeing as he was also a member of an extremely prominent household. Against a man like him? Nephis could fully exert her family's influence.

Sunny's face flashed before her eyes once more, her knuckles turning paler than usual as she continued to gaze down at the face of the golden haired man.

"What did he do to Sunny?"
