Rewind:Beyond the apocalypse

Chapter 6: chapter 4

Chapter 4: A new day.

Derick and Anita were the epitome of a loving couple, their bond strengthened by their shared devotion to their daughters. Derick's love for Elise and Madison knew no bounds; he would willingly sacrifice everything to ensure their safety and happiness. The thought of not being able to protect Elise from the trauma she endured filled him with overwhelming guilt and regret.

Anita, too, was consumed by emotions as she grappled with the reality of what her daughter had faced. As a mother, she felt an intense sense of responsibility for not being able to shield Elise from harm. The pain and helplessness she felt were palpable.

Together, Derick and Anita had built a business empire through their real estate company, amassing a vast fortune that had provided their family with a life of luxury. However, their wealth was not the only measure of their success as parents. They had always prioritized their daughters' well-being, showering them with love, care, patience, and every opportunity to thrive.

In spite of their wealth and privilege, Derick and Anita had instilled in their daughters the values of humility, kindness, and resilience. They had been actively involved in their children's lives, attending school events, sports games, and recitals, and had always been there to offer guidance and support.

Now, as they navigated the aftermath of Elise's traumatic experience, Derick and Anita were more determined than ever to protect and care for their daughters, using their wealth and influence to ensure their safety and happiness in a world that had been forever changed.

Elise woke up with a puffy face and a sore throat, the aftermath of a night filled with tears. As she turned her head, she saw her older sister, Madison, holding her gently and tightly, as if she might disappear if she let go.

"Madison, are you awake?" Elise asked, her voice hoarse from crying.

Elise, how are you?" Madison asked, her voice laced with worry.

"I'm fine," Elise replied, trying to reassure her sister.

"Let's wash up so we can meet up with Dad and Mom and have breakfast together," Madison suggested, helping Elise out of bed.

After washing up, the two sisters headed downstairs, the aroma of freshly cooked breakfast wafting through the air. Elise's stomach growled in anticipation, and she felt a sense of normalcy wash over her, if only for a moment.

As they entered the kitchen, Elise's parents greeted them with warm smiles, their eyes still etched with concern. "Good morning, girls," Anita said, embracing them both. "We're glad you're feeling better, Elise."

Derick nodded in agreement. "We need to talk more about what happened, but for now, let's focus on breakfast and enjoying each other's company."

The family sat down together, the tension in the air slowly dissipating as they shared a meal and some much-needed quality time. But Elise knew that the conversation about her past and the apocalypse was far from over.
