Rejected by the shadow god

Chapter 32: the deceiver

Chapter 28: "Unmasking the Deceiver"

Caleb's world was still reeling from Juilian's accident. He had been by her side at the hospital, praying for her recovery. But as he sat in his office, staring blankly at the wall, he couldn't shake off the feeling that something wasn't quite right.

It started with small inconsistencies in Madison's alibi. Caleb had asked her about her whereabouts on the day of the accident, and she had seemed hesitant, fidgety. At first, he had dismissed it as mere nervousness, but now, he wasn't so sure.

Determined to uncover the truth, Caleb began to dig deeper. He discovered that Madison had been acting strangely in the days leading up to the accident, her behavior becoming increasingly erratic.

And then, there was the security footage. Caleb had obtained the tapes from the street cameras near the accident site, and what he saw made his blood run cold.

Madison's car, with her at the wheel, had been caught on tape, speeding away from the scene of the accident. The evidence was irrefutable – Madison was Theresa V, and she was behind Juilian's accident.

Caleb's mind reeled as he processed the information. He felt betrayed, deceived by someone he had trusted. His eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in anger.

He stormed out of his office, determined to confront Madison. But as he reached her desk, he found her gone, her computer and belongings packed up.

A note on her desk caught his eye – "You'll never find me, Caleb. But know this – I'll always be one step ahead of you."

Caleb's eyes blazed with fury as he crumpled the note in his hand. He vowed to find Madison, to make her pay for what she had done.

But as he stood there, seething with anger, he knew he couldn't do it alone. He needed his best friend, Ryder, by his side.

With a newfound determination, Caleb dialed Ryder's number, ready to enlist his help in taking down Madison and uncovering the truth.
