Chapter 29: Chapter 29
I just stared after Ino and the twins as they passed by me without even noticing.
Damn, my new status effects were monstrous.
Speaking of status… first and foremost—I had officially hit zero in chakra control! It had actually happened during my fight with the Uchihas, but back then, I had neither the time nor the energy to check or process the notifications. And afterward, I was too exhausted to care. So, I only got around to reading my message log now, in the hospital.
And I was the lucky recipient of a wonderful little reminder.
New Status Acquired – Horrible Control!
For a shinobi, control is everything. And your everything is practically nothing.
Control Rankings:
1 to 100 – Horrible Control. All jutsu cost 50% more chakra. The first step in the shinobi world… or a massive headache for anyone with large reserves.
101 to 200 – Bad Control. Some penalties are lifted. Jutsu cost 35% more chakra.
201 to 300 – Below Average. Jutsu cost 5% more chakra. Chakra response speed is twice as fast compared to the previous levels. Manageable—many shinobi can confirm this. With enough dedication to specific techniques, some hand signs can be omitted.
301 to 400 – Average. Congratulations, you're now completely average! Basic jutsu with no special control requirements no longer have penalties. Most shinobi fall into this category. With enough training, you can cast some low-level techniques without hand signs.
401 to 500 – Above Average. Wow, you've actually made progress! Jutsu cost 5% less chakra. Chakra response speed is now 1.2x faster. Some low-rank jutsu can be cast completely without hand signs! Keep it up!
501 to 600 – Good Control. Jutsu cost 15% less chakra. Manipulating chakra is much easier. You can start altering jutsu effects.
601 to 700 – Excellent Control. Jutsu cost 30% less chakra. Chakra responds instantly. Most low-level techniques can be executed by sheer willpower, shaping chakra into the correct structure within your body.
701 to 800 – Genius Level. The level of Sannin and other famous shinobi. Jutsu cost 40% less chakra. A significant number of techniques require only one or two hand signs. Chakra is practically an extension of your body.
801 to 1000 – Terrifying. The level of Madara and Kakuzu (who, being Madara's age and dedicating decades to chakra control, is truly terrifying). Jutsu cost 50% less chakra. Dropping a meteor with one hand sign? Pfft!
1001 to 1500 – Tailed Beast Level. Suck it, mortals! Chakra beasts are chakra! Their control is on a whole other level!
1501 to 3000 – Still not as strong as the Sage of Six Paths! Though his kids might fall somewhere in this range.
3001 to 5000 – *Three jutsu at once? Easy! Ignoring hand signs? Always have! Reshaping the landscape with a wave of my hand? Nothing simpler! Who am I? Kaguya!
5001 to ∞ – Why am I even here? © God of Thugs.
No surprises—I was at the very bottom of this ranking.
For context, Sasuke and the other Uchiha brats, Ino, and about a third of my class were already at 250 control.
Shikamaru? He was sitting at 392. Meaning, the only thing keeping him from reaching "Above Average" was his own laziness. But no matter how much he slacked off, by the time he graduated, he'd break past that threshold anyway.
That second-to-last ranking terrified me.
Because if I wanted to stand on equal ground with a certain goddess, I needed to reach god-tier control.
And what was worse—when Sasuke fully awakened as Indra's reincarnation, he was going to be an unstoppable monster.
Judging by this list, Naruto was probably canonically somewhere between Below Average and Average. That second part likely applied more to Shippuden.
But in his Kurama Chakra Mode, the golden one—not the berserker one—he definitely got control boosts on top of his chakra pool.
Even the chakra arms were a huge hint—they required ridiculous control for a normal shinobi.
But I wasn't planning to rely on cheap hacks.
Especially since I wasn't Asura's reincarnation at all.
Which brought me to… a whole list of problems.
And now, for the second status—this one was seriously awesome.
"Kuroko"
You are completely unnoticed by ordinary people unless you actively draw attention to yourself.
Genin can lose track of you even if you're standing right next to them.
Chunin freak out when they suddenly realize you've been standing there the whole time.
Jonin are the only ones who might sometimes sense you against your will.
This is the pinnacle of your desire to remain unnoticed, honed to such an extent that it has become part of your genetic code.
Disappearing while standing in the middle of an empty plaza? Not a problem.
Slipping into the women's section of the hot springs without hiding?
…Most men would give anything for that power.
But for you? The real problem is that people ignore you far too often…
Even in your Clockwork Orange Suit!
100% stealth on any terrain, in any outfit.
100% unnoticed presence.
Complete immunity to detection factors.
From now on, your favorite phrase is:
"I've been here the whole time!"
Considering that Saya, Aya, and Ino had just walked past me without noticing, despite Ino almost brushing shoulders with me—yeah, this ability was terrifying.
Hmm… maybe I should go visit Yugao?
Finding me now… was officially impossible.
And damn, that was an incredible feeling of freedom!
...But wait. How do I even find her?
Turns out, the answer was painfully simple.
Yugao was living in my old apartment—the one where the three of us had stayed before.
And she had trashed the place with empty ramen cups.
Damn.
So it's not canon Naruto who's a slob—it's the entire damn village, with a few rare exceptions.
Looks like I had some cleaning to do…
Two hours later...
After leveling up Butler three times, I realized that calling this a "bit of cleaning" had been a massive understatement.
Yugao had turned this place into a disaster zone!
And just as I was finishing up, she finally walked in.
"Who's there?"
Wow. The stark contrast between the previously trashed apartment and the spotless one I'd just cleaned must have set off her danger sense—because she'd walked past me twice without noticing.
Then again, she was technically only Tokubetsu Jonin, not a full Jonin.
On the other hand, she was ANBU.
But considering the system's wording—"Jonin might sometimes notice you,"—it wasn't guaranteed that even they would.
God, this was amazing.
"Who else would it be? Three months and you've already forgotten me, Yugao-san?"
I put on my best offended tone.
Hah. Exactly as I thought.
As soon as I gave away my location, I became visible again.
"H-how long have you been here?"
Whoa.
She was actually thrown off!
"I've been here the whole time!"
Yeah.
At this rate, that really will be my favorite phrase.
