Reincarnated as Shiro Oni in DXD

Chapter 5: Magami

Tokyo, Japan

Although it was already nighttime, Tokyo felt alive, illuminated by thousands of neon lights that bathed the streets in vibrant colors. The city pulsed like a beating heart. Crowds of people moved like a never-ending river. The sound of footsteps, roaring vehicles, and train announcements blended into the night air.

Meanwhile, at an underground train station, a train came to a halt, and its doors slid open. Yuzuru, wearing dark sunglasses, a plain black hoodie, and dark pants, stepped out of the train. He walked slowly toward the station exit, his expression neutral, paying no attention to his surroundings.

"So, here I am," Yuzuru muttered as he stood just outside the station. He glanced around at his surroundings, recognizing the area as Kabukicho, the red-light district. From his vantage point, he saw numerous bars, motels, nightclubs, and other establishments offering companionship services. Yuzuru also noticed many Yakuza members going about their business or simply enjoying themselves.

"I didn't expect to return to this place so soon," Yuzuru sighed and shook his head.

He then walked toward a convenience store to buy a drink, his throat dry after a four-hour journey without water.

After purchasing a drink, Yuzuru strolled away from the bustling crowd, sipping the canned drink in his hand. A short while later, he stood before the gate of a residential area. The gate bore a symbol resembling the emblem of a Yakuza syndicate. Two Yakuza members stood guard by the gate, but they ignored Yuzuru and even seemed to regard him with respect.

Without acknowledging them, Yuzuru asked in a calm tone, his gaze fixed elsewhere, "Is the old man here?"

The two yakuza then bowed towards Yuzuru and said respectfully, "Yes, young master, the leader is here."

"Do we need to notify the leader of your arrival?"

"No need. I'll meet him myself," Yuzuru answered, removing the glasses and cap that had been covering his head.

The two Yakuza members nodded and opened the gate for Yuzuru to enter. Yuzuru stepped inside, walking past numerous houses until he reached an area that looked like a backyard.

The two Yakuza watched Yuzuru slowly disappear into the Magami compound and shivered as they recalled the times they had trained under him and were mercilessly beaten.

In the yard, Yuzuru saw a middle-aged man wearing a kimono with dark striped patterns, paired with a long black coat. The man had short, neatly trimmed hair and a scar running across one of his eyes. This middle-aged man, whom Yuzuru knew as Ryuujo Magami, was sitting on a stone bench with a cup and a flask, which Yuzuru assumed was filled with alcohol. He appeared to be gazing at the night sky.

Yuzuru walked slowly toward Ryuujo until he stood right beside him. Then, he said, "Long time no see, old man."

Ryuujo, who had been staring at the night sky, was startled when someone beside him addressed him like that. In his mind, there was only one person who always called him 'old man,' and that was Yuzuru. He looked up and saw Yuzuru staring at him with the familiar, expressionless face. Ryuujo grinned with excitement and said, "Well, look who's here. What a surprise!"

Yuzuru simply nodded and then sat on the stone bench, facing Ryuujo. Ryuujo picked up the flask, poured some alcohol into his cup, and asked, "Want some?"

Yuzuru shook his head, prompting Ryuujo to ask in confusion, "Eh? Why not?"

Yuzuru remained silent for a moment, his face calm and unreadable, before saying, "I prefer to endure my suffering as it is, thanks."

Ryuujo was taken aback by Yuzuru's reply. He sighed and chuckled, "I guess a lot has happened to you while we've been apart."

Yuzuru stayed quiet, listening to Ryuujo's remark. After a brief silence, Yuzuru spoke directly with a slightly serious tone, "I'm here to make a deal."

Ryuujo, noticing the change in Yuzuru's tone, immediately became serious and said, "What kind of deal?"

Yuzuru replied, "Help me get the police off my back, and I'll take care of the three families for you."

Ryuujo's expression darkened at the mention of the three families. He suspected they were planning to eliminate the Magami family due to their loyalty to the Yamazaki family. He responded in a low tone, "I can deal with the police chasing you, as long as those three families are destroyed."

"But do you really think you can take down all three families by yourself?"

"And you should realize there's something strange about them."

Yuzuru had already noticed the odd behavior of the three families. In his mind, they should be waging war to determine which family would replace the Yamazaki, but so far, there had been no news of conflict or riots among them. This led him to conclude that there was another party or family strong enough to control them.

However, Yuzuru didn't see this as a problem. He believed in his current strength and his statistic-multiplier card. Additionally, he had other trump cards. He also knew that his strength was only slightly below that of the family leaders, but with his statistic-multiplier card, he felt confident in completing his mission. With all this in mind, he smirked mockingly and confidently said, "Don't worry. I'm aware of it, and I can handle it on my own."

Ryuujo observed Yuzuru for a moment and saw nothing but confidence in his eyes. He sighed and said, "Alright, if you say so."

"When will you start dealing with them? I'd suggest you act quickly because they're all currently gathered in the Yamazaki district for some reason."

Yuzuru was pleased to hear this, as it meant he wouldn't have to go through the trouble of bringing them together in one place. It also gave him the perfect opportunity to use his statistic-multiplier card. Smirking arrogantly, he said, "That's good news. I can take them all out at once without any hassle."

Yuzuru then stood up and said, "Old man, it's late. I'll handle it tomorrow, so I'll leave now."

Ryuujo, resigned to Yuzuru's determination, said, "You can stay here if you want. At least that's the least I can do to help."

Yuzuru, who had just stood up, paused and then said, "You're still the same, old man."

Ryuujo chuckled at his comment. "The staff will prepare your room, and if you need anything, just let them know."

Yuzuru looked at Ryuujo with a blank expression and said, "I don't understand."

Ryuujo smirked and replied, "I don't understand either why you only destroyed the branch families before and didn't wipe out the Magami family entirely."

Yuzuru remained silent, as he himself didn't understand why his past self had acted that way. Ryuujo continued, "The human heart is a mystery, kid."

Yuzuru said nothing and turned to leave the yard. Before he could step away, he heard Ryuujo ask, "You could die. Are you sure about this?"

Ryuujo was concerned that Yuzuru might be blinded by revenge, so he asked to ensure Yuzuru wasn't being reckless.

Yuzuru stood still for a moment, sensing Ryuujo's concern, before answering without turning around, "I'm more afraid of not starting to live."

Yuzuru then walked away, disappearing into the dark night. Ryuujo watched his figure fade into the shadows and chuckled softly. "It seems a lot really has happened to you, Yuzuru..."
