Rebirth as a Time Dragon

Chapter 513: Chapter 513: Dawn and Darkness

Amidst a world scarred and fractured, with gaping chasms and rifts cutting through the earth, the silver dragon hovered in the sky, his eyes seemingly unfocused.

Simultaneously, streams of information from different planes flowed like waterfalls through Garon's platinum eyes, reflecting the myriad events unfolding across various material worlds.

Garon's search for the primordial Sun God quickly narrowed down, locking onto information related to this entity among countless other details.

One of the material worlds, the continent of Gray, was under siege. Like the Noah continent in the past, an endless curtain of darkness had swept over this world's sky. The deep, shadowy light coalesced into a thick, fog-like substance, permeating every visible space.

The black mist roiled and churned.

Within this darkness, various sources of light flickered like candles in the wind, teetering on the edge of extinction.

"I was born in darkness, and I am the creator of darkness."

"I bring darkness, and I bring light."

"..."

"I am the true light, the supreme and only blazing sun!"

Whispers, dizzying and spirit-shaking, swirled within the black mist, constantly assaulting the minds of those caught within.

Sizzling sounds marked the fall of some creatures' sanity, as they succumbed to the mist's corruption, their bodies warping and transforming at a visible pace.

Tentacles sprouted grotesquely from their skin, spinning eyes bulged and burst through their hair, and gaping, toothy maws appeared all over their limbs. These abominations howled in agony, their twisted forms seeking out and extinguishing any nearby light that did not belong to the darkness.

Meanwhile, piercing through the blackness, if one could see through to the tens of thousands of meters above, the source of the black fog would be visible.

A black 'sun.'

On its surface, a dark, twisted corona burned, composed of billions of tiny tendrils. Countless eyes dotted the sun's surface, each releasing malevolent and vicious gazes, overseeing the world below as it descended into darkness.

This large-scale invasion by the wilderness deities into the material plane was far beyond the minor skirmishes of avatars seen before.

The black sun suspended in the sky was none other than the primordial Sun God's true form.

Compared to this deity's true body, the dark serpent-dragon that once invaded the Noah continent was a mere trivial avatar.

Had the primordial Sun God's true form attacked Noah, the dragons there would have had no chance of resistance and would have needed the Dragon God's intervention.

Gray was home to many powerful beings, with over ten demigods from different races and hundreds, even thousands, of legendary creatures.

As the primordial Sun God unleashed its dark might, these champions gathered, each like a bolt of lightning cutting through the dark veil, rising together to challenge the deity.

"Pathetic, insignificant beings, daring to face the power of a deity?"

"Come, the true light will cleanse your flesh and soul. You will revel in my light, singing praises to the supreme blazing sun."

With a roar, the primordial Sun God's will commanded the boundless black mist to converge, forming a gigantic dark hand that instantly engulfed and annihilated half of the courageous demigods.

Despite the restrictions of the material plane's rules, the disparity in power was glaring.

The primordial Sun God could effortlessly obliterate several demigods with a single move.

This disparity was understandable, as the gap in life essence and biological rank was enormous. A demigod ant compared to a demigod lion still remains an ant.

The primordial Sun God, a top-tier wilderness deity with quasi-great divine power, had shone brilliantly in the first Dawn War. Even under the gods' rule over the multiverse, it had continuously attempted to erode the material world.

Being highly active, it had endured numerous sieges by the gods yet had never faced death or imprisonment.

This alone demonstrated the primordial Sun God's immense power.

Initially, the local demigods believed that as demigods, they could battle a wilderness deity within the material world, perhaps even slay or imprison one and gain renown across the multiverse.

However, the events of the last second shattered these demigods' confidence.

The dark hand devoured half of the demigods, then, after a few rolls, released them, now mutated and monstrous. To normal eyes, they had become horrifyingly grotesque.

These mutated demigods roared hoarsely and, under the primordial Sun God's sinister gaze, turned against their former comrades, attacking the remaining demigods.

Enhanced by the pervasive black mist, and with the mist weakening their normal counterparts, these maddened demigods overwhelmed the others. Within seconds, a colossal demigod wolf was torn apart, its bloody remains raining down from the sky.

"The bloody struggle among insects always pleases me."

The primordial Sun God's many eyes squinted with delight.

Corrupting the minds of sentient beings and transforming them into abominations aligned with its own aesthetics provided no real benefit to the Sun God. It merely enjoyed this form of amusement, watching the fall of intelligent beings into its darkness, seeing them mutate, and then hearing their roars as they attacked their former kind.

Suddenly.

The dark canopy tens of thousands of meters above trembled slightly and began to glow faintly.

The primordial Sun God's countless eyes focused intensely on this disturbance.

Under its ancient gaze, a ray of dawn pierced through the boundless black mist, casting a pale golden light across the land.

This was just the beginning.

In the span of a breath, thousands of dawn lights descended, illuminating all directions and piercing the dark world created by the Sun God. The places bathed in this soft dawn saw the frenzied abominations calm down, their bodies slowly reverting to their original forms under the golden light.

Simultaneously, countless beams of light converged into a divine figure.

This deity appeared as an extraordinarily handsome young man with dazzling golden hair and a bright, optimistic smile. His smile radiated a divine charm, dispelling all suffering and frustration, and bringing a sense of serenity to all who beheld it.

He wore a simple, ancient Roman-style white robe, exposing slightly raised muscles sculpted to perfection.

Endless dawn light surrounded him, or rather, was born from him.

This deity was Lathander, the Lord of the Morning, and a true god of great power.

"Primordial Sun God, your time has passed."

"Dawn has broken, and light has replaced the darkness."

The Lord of the Morning smiled warmly, standing tall in his radiant glory, and spoke softly to the primordial Sun God.

The Sun God's many eyes glared with loathing and hatred.

Lathander had been among the gods who last besieged the primordial Sun God. Due to their contrasting powers, along with the God of Light, Lathander had inflicted significant harm, forcing the Sun God to retreat into the Sea of Shadows for a long time.

"You think you can replace me?"

"Humph, I was born with the world, wielding the original darkness. If Pelor were here, he would have the right to stand before me. But you? You're nothing."

The God of Light Pelor had long held a grudge against the primordial Sun God since the first Dawn War.

This time, upon discovering the Sun God's presence, Pelor had planned to descend and settle their enmity. However, Lathander, also interested in confronting the Sun God, arrived first, and Pelor, rather than insisting on battling the Sun God, turned his attention to other powerful wilderness deities in the material world.

"Youngster, I will devour your light and drag you into my darkness."

The primordial Sun God's countless mouths opened, spewing forth rolling black mist that enveloped everything.

At the same time, its eyes turned deep and dark, gathering a more profound darkness and glaring at Lathander.

Hiss. Hiss. Hiss.

Beams of tangible darkness sliced through the space, the most concentrated form of shadow, sweeping towards Lathander like a torrential storm.

To ordinary beings, a mere glance at these dark beams would drown their minds in endless darkness, turning them into frenzied, mindless monsters.

Lathander's smile did not falter.

Yet, as the primordial Sun God's fierce attacks bore down on him, he recognized the formidable challenge and his expression grew solemn and focused.

**Authority of Dawn: Radiance of a Million Lights!**

Golden rays of light spontaneously emerged, illuminating the world with a brilliance that seemed to gild the surrounding space.

Under this radiant glow, the Sun God's dark beams dimmed significantly. As they neared Lathander, he raised his hand, guiding the dawn light to intercept them all.

Meanwhile.

The primordial Sun God's cold gaze remained locked on Lathander.

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.

The black 'sun' trembled violently, its countless tendrils writhing chaotically, while the thick, mist-like darkness surged out like a tidal wave, threatening to engulf the world.

The black mist coalesced into tentacles bristling with eyes and mouths, compressing Lathander's light and sealing off space, endlessly converging on his form.

Lathander stood firm.

His divine power surged, his body glowing with a majestic light, transforming into a giant deity of radiance.

This majestic deity wielded a divine sword forged from the light of dawn, slashing repeatedly to sever the Sun God's dark tentacles and unleashing beams of dawn light that cut through the black mist, striking directly at the Sun God's body.

Crack. Crack.

The Sun God's tendrils grew thicker and larger, snapping the beams of dawn light and devouring them with gaping, toothed mouths.

The black mist swelled, rolling like a tide, with the Sun God at its center,

 growing more frenzied and wild.

Lathander faced increasing pressure.

From the ground below, looking up.

The sky appeared divided into two halves: one of golden dawn, the other of dark light. These forces intertwined and clashed, with dawn sometimes overwhelming darkness, and darkness sometimes swallowing dawn. However, more often than not, darkness had the upper hand.

As time passed, Lathander's light began to wane.

In the anxious prayers of countless beings, light and darkness waged their battle.

Back on the continent of Noah, amidst the scarred earth.

The silver dragon remained calm, his eyes reflecting the intense clash between the primordial Sun God and the Lord of the Morning.

"It seems Lathander is struggling against the Sun God."

"If it were Pelor, he could at least stand on equal footing with the Sun God. But Lathander falls a bit short."

After observing the battle for a while, Garon pondered silently.

He considered the primordial Sun God a formidable enemy and acknowledged its power. This ancient and powerful wilderness deity was a top-tier opponent, while Lathander, although strong, was slightly outmatched.

In the Hero Domain.

In the Hall of the Gods.

Garon's avatar opened its eyes, looking towards Lathander's avatar.

"Lord of the Morning, do you need assistance?"

Garon inquired.

"I can handle Ayherne myself, thank you, Lord of Heroes."

Lathander's avatar smiled slightly.

It was clear that Lathander was struggling but was too proud to ask for help, maintaining his divine dignity. Garon flicked his dragon tail, smiling leisurely, and said, "Very well, I trust that with your power, defeating a wilderness deity is a simple task."

Back on the Noah continent.

The silver dragon spread his wings wide, his massive form soaring through the sky.

At the same time, an invisible and intangible temporal power poured out.

Wherever the silver dragon passed, time began to flow backward.

As if the world was being recreated, the shattered and scarred earth was rejuvenated. Deep, ghastly rifts healed, collapsed mountains reformed, standing tall once more, and countless broken trees rose from the ground, forming forests. In the areas previously consumed by sand, grains gathered and merged, outlining the shapes of cities. Intelligent beings who had been devoured reappeared, looking bewildered.

In the moments of Arkaluun's outburst, nearby sentient beings had been instantly turned to sand, with no time to react.

Using the power of time reversal, Garon restored the heavily damaged Noah continent, resurrecting many intelligent beings who had perished in the aftermath of his battle with Arkaluun.

Given Noah's relatively small size, this scale of time reversal was not particularly challenging for Garon, now a mid-tier deity. The effort was minimal; after all, even a lesser deity could resurrect mortals on a large scale. Of course, the higher the mortal's level, the more energy required for revival.

Soon, the Noah continent was largely restored to its original state.

Garon did not rush to confront other wilderness deities in different material worlds.

He returned to the snow-covered Northern Icefields, basking in the endless blizzard, coiling atop the highest peak. Guarding the Noah continent, he silently observed the battle between Lathander and the primordial Sun God, ready to act when the time was right.
