"Ah, Marowak has been knocked out! Can it stand back up and fight?"
In the centre of the arena, after being bombarded with Grass-type moves, Marowak lay on the battlefield, battered and scarred.
It struggled to rise but was struck by a razor-sharp Leaf Blade, finally losing its ability to battle.
"Oh, what a pity! Damian has lost another round! On the other hand, Kai has now secured match point with a commanding lead!"
The battle had been short and decisive. The host's voice echoed throughout the stadium as the audience realized Damian was backed into a corner.
Without a stronger Pokémon to turn things around, he was on track to suffer a crushing 3-0 defeat.
Recalling Marowak to its Poké Ball, Damian gritted his teeth as he reached for his final Pokémon.
"Hmph! I was saving this Pokémon as my trump card for the semi-finals, maybe even the finals but now, I have no choice but to reveal it early!"
Under the expectant gazes of the audience, Damian's final Pokémon materialized in a burst of blue light.
With fiery red fur and a bushy tail, it was revealed to be a Flareon!
"...I see. So this Flareon is your strongest Pokémon?" Kai asked calmly.
"You bet it is," Damian replied with a smug grin. "And don't underestimate it! I know you're friends with the trainer who took my Charmander, but let me tell you I gave up Charmander because of this Flareon! It's leagues stronger and will wipe the floor with you!"
Acknowledging the seriousness of the situation, Kai returned his Venusaur and sent out his final Pokémon: Blastoise. To ensure his victory, he relied on a clear type advantage to gain the upper hand.
When the referee signalled the start of the battle, Flareon immediately sprang into action, leaping nimbly across the field with boundless energy.
Its fiery strength proved formidable, but Blastoise was a tough opponent to crack. Despite Flareon's Strength and agility, it ultimately succumbed to Blastoise's powerful Water-type moves.
"And that's it! Blastoise wins!" the announcer exclaimed.
"What a simple battle," Ash commented from the stands, relieved to see Kai's victory. "It seems like the tournament isn't as difficult as I expected."
Misty glared at him. "Don't be ridiculous! The only reason it looked easy is that Kai is far stronger than Damian. You can't underestimate your own opponents!"
Brock nodded in agreement. "Misty's right, Ash. Never underestimate the competition."
Back on the field, Damian stood in stunned silence, struggling to process his loss.
"I... didn't win a single round?" he muttered in disbelief. "I was so confident I'd make it to the top, but this... this is a disaster!"
As the referee raised his flag to signal the end of the match, the host announced, "All of Damian's Pokémon are unable to battle! Player Kai is the winner and advances to the next round!"
Cheers erupted from the crowd as Kai waved modestly before collecting his Pokémon and exiting the battlefield with calm composure.

Later, in a nearby ice cream parlour, Kai, Misty, Ash, and the rest of the group sat together, joined by a dozen members of the bosozoku gang. The cheerful group celebrated Kai's victory with cold drinks.
"That Damian guy was so weak," Misha laughed, nearly choking on her ice cream. "He didn't win a single round! I bet even I could beat him in a battle!"
Her loud comment unexpectedly drew attention.
At the entrance, Damian and a few of his friends happened to walk in, overhearing her remark. Already fuming over his loss, Damian marched over, glaring at Misha.
"Who's talking trash about me!?"
Misha, unfazed, stood up and stared him down. "Oh, it's you Mr. 0-3. What's the problem? Can't handle the truth?"
Damian flinched at her intimidating demeanour but glanced at Kai and the others. Seeing that most of them appeared younger or less threatening, he puffed up his chest, bolstered by the presence of his own friends.
"It was just dumb luck that I lost! In a proper 6-on-6 battle, I'd crush him! And you'd better watch your mouth, or—"
Before he could finish, a group of bosozoku members at nearby tables stood up, glaring menacingly. Their numbers and rough appearance made Damian and his friends pale.
One of Damian's friends whispered nervously, "Uh, Damian, maybe we should leave. This doesn't look good."
Realizing he was outnumbered, Damian muttered something about checking on his bicycle and hurriedly left the shop with his friends.

The group continued enjoying their desserts, barely paying attention to the brief confrontation. As they finished, Kai turned to Ash with an encouraging smile.
"Now it's your turn, Ash. I know your opponent is tough, but I believe you'll win."
Chloe nodded in agreement. "Be careful, though. I heard your opponent is a magician who's made the news a few times. He might have a few tricks up his sleeve."
