On the big screen, the profiles of Kai and Damian were displayed, along with icons showing the number of remaining Pokémon for each trainer.

The battle followed a 3-on-3 format: the trainer who lost all their Pokémon would forfeit their chance to advance to the next round.

A referee stood in the middle of the arena. Seeing both trainers ready, he raised two small flags and shouted, "Both trainers, send out your Pokémon at the same time!"

Kai shook off his distracting thoughts and selected a Poké Ball from his belt. Across the field, Damian smiled confidently, holding a Poké Ball of his own.

As the trainers simultaneously released their Pokémon, two beams of blue light flashed onto the battlefield.

A monkey-like Pokémon with a pig-like nose, a round, furry body, and thick limbs appeared alongside an elegant, humanoid Pokémon with a flowing gown-like form.

The audience gasped Damian had sent out a Primeape, while Kai's Pokémon was Gardevoir!

Primeape, a Fighting-type Pokémon, was at a significant disadvantage against Gardevoir, which was both Psychic and Fairy-type.

As Gardevoir emerged, its graceful appearance captivated the audience, particularly those unfamiliar with Pokémon from other regions. Countless cameras zoomed in on the elegant Pokémon.

Even Damian, with his limited experience, was taken aback. "What kind of Pokémon is that?" he muttered, frowning.

Kai didn't answer, and Damian felt too embarrassed to openly scan Gardevoir with his Pokédex in front of the crowd.

He was left to analyze its attributes based on appearance alone. Gazing into Gardevoir's piercing red eyes, he sensed an aura of danger.

With the sound of a bell, the battle officially began.

"Gardevoir, use Psychic!" Kai commanded.

"Primeape, charge and attack!" Daiman yelled.

As Primeape leapt toward Gardevoir, it was suddenly halted mid-air by an invisible psychic force, as if struck by an unseen truck.

The impact slammed Primeape to the ground, dealing double damage due to its Fighting-type weakness to Psychic moves.

Daiman's suspicions were confirmed, and his expression darkened. 'Damn it, it's a Psychic-type Pokémon!'

Primeape howled in pain as Gardevoir continued its relentless psychic assault, keeping the Fighting-type Pokémon pinned.

"Primeape, fight back!" Daiman shouted anxiously.

Flailing wildly, Primeape grabbed a nearby rock. Daiman's eyes lit up as he saw an opportunity. "Use Rock Throw!"

Primeape hurled the stone at Gardevoir, forcing it to halt its Psychic attack to defend itself. Taking advantage of the opening, Primeape struggled to its feet and lunged toward Gardevoir.

However, the rock rebounded at high speed, narrowly missing Primeape's head and grazing its cheek before flying past its ear.

"Primeape!" Daiman yelled. "Use Seismic Toss!"

Primeape extended its arms, attempting to grab Gardevoir and lift it into the air. But before it could land the move, Gardevoir used Teleport to evade, reappearing on the other side of the battlefield.

In the next instant, Gardevoir unleashed another powerful Psychic attack, slamming Primeape to the ground.

"Hateful!" Damian muttered under his breath. Realizing the disadvantage, he reached for Primeape's Poké Ball, intending to recall it.

"Gardevoir, stop him!" Kai ordered.

As Daiman's Poké Ball emitted a red beam of light to recall Primeape, Gardevoir used Psychic to lift the struggling Primeape into the air.

The red light missed its target, and Primeape crashed to the ground with a heavy thud, losing consciousness.

Cheers erupted from the audience. Among the loudest were Kai's friends, who celebrated his decisive victory.

Although some spectators preferred evenly matched battles, they couldn't help but admire Kai's commanding performance. Gardevoir's strength and elegance had also won over many fans.

On the battlefield, Damian flushed with frustration. Before the match, he had boasted about his chances of reaching the semifinals and possibly winning the championship.

Now, facing such a formidable opponent, his confidence was shattered.

For Kai, this battle had been straightforward. Gardevoir's overwhelming strength left Primeape with no chance to retaliate.

The host's voice echoed across the arena: "And Daiman's first Pokémon has been defeated! But don't worry, folks he still has two more Pokémon left. Let's see how he plans to turn the tide!"

Gritting his teeth, Damian selected his next Poké Ball. "Go, Marowak!"

A Ground-type Pokémon emerged onto the field.

Kai withdrew Gardevoir, placing the Poké Ball back on his belt. He selected his second Pokémon with a confident smile. "It's your turn, Venusaur!"

Kai's strategy was to rotate his team, allowing all of his Pokémon to gain experience and adapt to the high-stakes atmosphere of the tournament.

He believed this approach would prepare them for the intense battles ahead.

As Venusaur and Marowak squared off, the host's enthusiastic voice rang out once more: "Round two is about to begin! Will Damian make a comeback, or will Kai maintain his dominant lead? Let's find out!"
