Pokemon: Sign-in System

Chapter 3: Energy Cube Manufacturing Machine

Adrian's parents had passed away, leaving him with nothing but an apartment in the centre of Velmor City.

The original Adrian had been a withdrawn individual, rarely interacting with others and keeping to himself. Even his teacher and classmates barely knew anything about him.

With only a week left until the graduation exam, everyone was focused on training and preparing, leaving Adrian undisturbed.

This suited him perfectly.

.....

Standing outside the glass doors, Adrian took in the sight of a grand and pristine building complex. Written in bold letters across the top were six characters: "Velmor City Pokémon Centre."

Unlike the modest centres found in smaller towns, the Velmor City Pokémon Centre was designed to handle the vast population and traffic of the bustling city. Its design was not just practical but monumental, reflecting its status as the heart of the city's Pokémon ecosystem.

It was far more than just a place to heal Pokémon. This centre served as a trading hub, a training ground, and a vibrant social nexus for trainers and enthusiasts, all centred around the Pokémon way of life.

People were bustling about, moving with their Pokémon companions—small creatures like Oddish, Eevee, and Persian trotting alongside their trainers. These Pokémon, large and small, were part of the fabric of life in Velmor City, and the Pokémon Center was one of the symbols of that integration.

In this modern age, Pokémon were as much a part of daily life as any other companion or tool. Whether it was for work, travel, or companionship, they could be found everywhere.

To the right of the Pokémon Centre was a special rental industry, brightly illuminated signs reading "Tauros Transportation" and "Pidgeotto Express" in the night, offering rentals for Pokémon-related transport and services.

But the most striking sight was a large pure-white eggshell, placed in front of the building. There was a small hole in its surface, the texture uneven as though a Pokémon inside was about to break free. This was a common feature outside Pokémon Centres in every city, a symbol of new beginnings and the potential for growth and change.

Adrian glanced at it briefly before stepping into the centre, ready for his next steps.

Adrian's eyes widened in surprise as the system's announcement echoed in his mind.

[Ding!]

[Sign-in location: Velmor City Pokémon Centre!]

[Check-in at three star designated location was successful!]

[Congratulations host for receiving the reward—Energy Cube Manufacturing Machine!]

His heart raced as he processed the information. The Energy Cube Manufacturing Machine—a device capable of transforming tree fruits into high-quality energy cubes to feed Pokémon—was an invaluable tool. It wasn't just a convenience; it was essential for maintaining the strength and health of his Pokémon, especially with the ones he was about to train.

"Energy Cube Manufacturing machine!" Adrian muttered, a smile slowly creeping onto his face.

He hadn't expected that the Pokémon Centre would be not only a three-star check-in location but also offer him such a fantastic reward. The timing couldn't have been better.

Previously, with the 100,000 poke-dollars he had earned from signing in, Adrian knew he had enough funds to support his initial Pokémon needs for few days but it's not a long term solution.

Just providing basic-level energy cubes costs way too much for most people. These small, nutrient-packed items are a luxury for the average trainer, making it difficult for them to sustain more than one Pokémon effectively.

However, with this machine, Adrian wouldn't have to worry about spending on energy cubes for his team, a resource that could quickly become prohibitively expensive. It was a significant advantage, especially considering how essential energy cubes were for maintaining a Pokémon's optimal performance.

This was also why Pseudo-Elite or higher-level trainers often came from wealthy families. The resources required to train Pokémon to such levels—including rare berries, high-quality cubes, and advanced equipment—were far beyond what most people could afford. Without strong financial backing, breaking through to the upper ranks of Pokémon training was almost impossible.

Adrian couldn't help but feel grateful for his newfound advantage. With this machine, he was no longer constrained by the financial barriers that held back so many others. It was a stepping stone that could propel him toward the heights of being a Champion Trainer.

Adrian could hardly wait to test the manufacturing machine, but seeing the bustling crowd in the lobby on the first floor, he reluctantly decided to hold off.

The Pokémon Centre had three floors, and the first was the busiest. As he entered, he was greeted by the sight of a counter with an unobstructed view, behind which staff worked diligently. Above the counter, an electronic screen scrolled through announcements, events, and advertisements, its messages constantly updating to keep up with the flow of activity.

Even late at night, the lobby was lively, filled with trainers and their Pokémon moving about. The sounds of conversations, Pokémon cries, and footsteps created an energetic atmosphere.

At that moment, several messages rolled across the electronic screen:

"Recruiting teammates for the Silver Secret Realm assessment—requires Flying Pokémon!"

"The High Level Trainer assessment will begin at ten o'clock tomorrow. Please prepare in advance!"

"Dray Family offers a large reward for clues about a mysterious Pokémon. The Pokémon's attribute is Psychic, and its strength is no less than that of a pseudo-elite level Pokémon. If you have any information, please call 1***. A substantial reward will be given!"

Adrian's gaze lingered on the last announcement, his expression tightening slightly.

As expected, the Dray Family was taking action. However, given how secretive their experiments were, Adrian figured very few people—aside from the family's heir whom he had encountered—knew anything substantial about Mewtwo. The vague description in the announcement was to his advantage. It meant he could move with less concern about being exposed.

At the same time, it was a reminder that the Dray Family, though weakened, still posed a significant threat. They wouldn't give up their pursuit so easily.

For now, Adrian decided to focus on his priorities. The Silver Secret Realm assessment caught his interest briefly, but his immediate goal was to help Mewtwo recover. Without wasting more time, he headed for the stairs leading to the second floor.

The secret realm assessment, as highlighted on the electronic screen, served as one of the primary paths for Trainers to rapidly enhance their strength and gain access to valuable resources.

These secret realms were categorized into six levels based on difficulty and rewards: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Platinum Level. Each level presented unique challenges, with higher-level realms offering greater opportunities and treasures but requiring significantly stronger Trainers.

Most Trainers participating in these assessments were at the Professional Level or Ace Level, with only a select few progressing to the Pseudo-Elite Level, which was the threshold for assessing Alliance prosecutors.

The Golden Secret Realm, for instance, required participants to be Pseudo-Elite Trainers or higher, acting as a barrier that only the most skilled could cross. On the other hand, the Platinum Level Secret Realm was a different story altogether. Currently, only one such realm existed in the Virelia Country, and it was strictly controlled by the government, making access nearly impossible for most Trainers.

As for Trainers themselves, their rankings were structured hierarchically from lowest to highest:

Normal Level, Professional Level, Ace, Pseudo-Elite, Elite, Pseudo-Champion, and Champion.

As for Champion rank and above, no formal distinctions had been established, and individuals who surpassed this level were simply referred to as Masters.

This elusive group of Masters remained the pinnacle of the Trainer hierarchy, with no one in public perception ever conquering a mythical Pokémon or surpassing these heights. Even managing to acquire a starter Pokémon of Pseudo-Elite quality was considered a great stroke of fortune for most Trainers.

Above the second floor is the hospital.

There is also a registration window here and trainers are need to register based on the injury of the Pokémon.

Window no. 1 is for emergency purposes where seriously injured pokémons are treated.

Adrian made his way to window ten, where the faint glow of the screen illuminated the counter.

Unlike the other registration windows, which were bustling with activity, window ten was quiet and somewhat secluded. The staff member seated there seemed lost in her thoughts, her chin resting in her hand as she absentmindedly stared at the screen in front of her.

As Adrian approached, his presence startled her. She straightened up abruptly, her cheeks turning a light shade of red as she met his gaze.

"H-Hello! What do you need?" she stammered, clearly flustered.

"I'd like to rent treatment equipment and a room," Adrian replied calmly, his tone steady and polite.

The staff member nodded quickly and began typing on her keyboard. After a moment, she handed over a key card with the number "016" embossed on it.

"This is your room. Just go straight and turn right at the end of the corridor," she instructed, her voice slightly hesitant.

"Thank you," Adrian said, taking the card and offering a small nod before heading off.

The staff member watched him go, still flustered. A faint murmur escaped her lips, "He's so… composed."

Adrian paid the rental fee of 1,000 at the counter and followed the directions to room 016.

Behind him, a few Trainers who had noticed the interaction began murmuring among themselves.

"Is he going to heal the Pokémon himself?" one asked with a hint of scepticism.

"Young people are so brave!" another chimed in, though their tone carried a hint of mockery.

"Must be lacking experience…" someone else added with a smirk.

Ignoring the faint whispers of curiosity and judgment, Adrian arrived at room 016. The soft *beep* of the card reader unlocking the door echoed, and he stepped inside.

Once inside room 016, Adrian closed the door behind him and took a deep breath, the excitement bubbling within him.

The room was larger than it appeared from the outside, equipped with various state-of-the-art instruments specifically designed for Pokémon treatment.

But Adrian's gaze shifted to the compact manufacturing machine in his possession. Excitement surged through him as he realized this was the perfect opportunity to put it to good use.

Without wasting any time, Adrian reached into his bag and retrieved the manufacturing machine that had been awarded to him earlier.

Its sleek, compact design gave it an almost futuristic look, with a glowing interface that seemed to hum with potential. Adrian ran his fingers along the smooth surface, grinning in anticipation.

"This is going to make such a difference," he murmured, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

He carefully placed the machine on a nearby table and began setting it up, eager to test its capabilities. As he did, he couldn't help but imagine the possibilities it would open for him and his Pokémon team. The ability to produce energy cubes of such high quality on his own was an advantage that could not be overstated.

"This is just the beginning," Adrian said to himself, determination flashing in his gaze as he powered up the machine, ready to put it to use.

Then he retrieved two Salac Berry which had been awarded to him by the system and threw the berries into the machine as it started vibrating.

After a minute, the vibrations ceased, and the room grew quiet once more. Adrian approached the machine with anticipation, watching as the lid slowly lifted.

A fragrant aroma wafted out, rich and sweet, instantly filling the room.

Inside the machine were two perfectly crafted energy cubes, which was crystal-like, its green hue radiating a soft glow. The sweet, tangy aroma was enough to make even Adrian curious about its taste. "Top Grade energy cubes," Adrian murmured in awe, his eyes widening. "This quality… it's unreal. You'd never find something like this on the market, not even for a fortune."

He carefully picked up the energy cubes, marvelling at their craftsmanship. Just then, a soft whine caught his attention.

Adrian glanced down and saw Gible at his feet, staring at the cubes with wide, hopeful eyes. Its small tail wagged eagerly, and it let out another plaintive growl.

Adrian couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, alright, you little glutton. Here, try one."

He handed one cube to Gible, who took it reverently in its claws. Gible sniffed it curiously before taking a bite. The moment the cube touched its tongue, its eyes lit up in pure delight.

Gible devoured the cube with gusto, its cheerful growls and wagging tail a clear sign of approval.

Adrian smiled, letting Gible savour its treat, before turning his attention back to the task at hand. He walked over to a sleek piece of equipment in the corner of the room—a device designed for specialized treatment of injured Pokémon. The setup included a helmet, various electrode patches, and a bracelet for the Trainer.

Standing beside the bed, Adrian took a deep breath. With a sharp *click*, he released Mewtwo from the Ultra Ball.

A flash of light revealed the formidable Psychic Pokémon, lying unconscious on the bed. Its powerful frame was still, its chest rising and falling in slow, laboured breaths. Even in this state, it radiated an aura of overwhelming strength.

Mewtwo's eyes were tightly shut, its expression twisted in pain, as though it were locked in a silent battle.

Adrian quickly yet carefully placed the helmet over Mewtwo's head, ensuring it fit snugly over the distinct curves of its head and horns. Next, he attached electrode patches to strategic points on Mewtwo's body to monitor its vital signs and facilitate the healing process.

Finally, Adrian strapped the specialized bracelet onto his own wrist.

"Here goes nothing," he muttered, activating the machine.

A soft hum filled the room as the device powered on.

Suddenly, Adrian felt a vibrant, life-giving energy surge through his body. The bracelet channelled his Viridian Power, amplifying and refining it, directing the energy into Mewtwo's battered form.

The green aura of healing flowed through the patches and the helmet, washing over Mewtwo's body like a gentle wave. Its shimmering light danced across the room, radiating warmth and vitality.

Mewtwo's body twitched slightly as the energy seeped into it, soothing its injuries and easing its pain. Adrian could feel the strain as his power coursed through him, but he gritted his teeth and focused, determined to see the process through.

"Come on, Mewtwo," Adrian murmured, sweat beginning to bead on his forehead. "You've got this."

The once-pained expression on Mewtwo's face began to soften, and its breathing grew steadier. The vibrant force worked its magic, revitalizing the legendary Pokémon inch by inch.
