He glanced at his wrist, muttering softly, "It's time."

Just then, voices echoed from the building's direction.

"Stay sharp on patrol! Mr. Dray has ordered us to increase security. Be vigilant, understood?"

"Understood!"

"Yes, Captain!"

The responses were loud and firm. About a dozen guards stood at attention, their Pokémon—Growlithe and Rhydon among them, standing alert and ready.

The guards moved with precision, their eyes scanning every corner. Not even a Diglett could sneak past their watchful gaze.

In a rectangular formation, four teams patrolled with their Pokémon, leaving no blind spots. Combined with the laser projections crisscrossing the rooftop, escape seemed impossible.

But they never expected it.

Despite the tight security, someone was hiding in the shadows, watching silently.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps broke the stillness.

**Tap-tap!**

The soft sound grew louder, approaching the perimeter.

Adrian crouched behind a large tree, hiding himself perfectly, holding his breath so not even the faintest sound escaped him.

Finally, the moonlight revealed a figure.

A young man in a white coat, with sharp features. The name "Maximus Dray" was pinned on his waist.

Adrian's eyes gleamed.

He had found a way to infiltrate the Dray family experimental base.

At that moment, Maximus cast an ominous glance toward the opposite side, a flicker of doubt passing through his eyes.

"Strange… why does it feel like someone's watching me?" he muttered under his breath.

His brows knitted in a slight frown, but he quickly dismissed the thought.

After all, the experimental area where he is stationed is the most tightly guarded facility—the very heart of the Dray family's operations. The security system had been elevated to its highest possible level.

Maximus felt confident that nothing could possibly go wrong here.

So, he rubbed the centre of his brows and continued walking toward the experimental base, his mind clouded with various thoughts.

Then suddenly, sharp pain struck the back of his head. He collapsed to the ground, barely catching a glimpse of a shadowy figure before everything went dark. He didn't even have time to cry for help.

Adrian swiftly slipped into Maximus's white coat and retrieved an electronic chip from his pocket.

Timing his move perfectly during the shift change between patrol teams, He approached the secure door.

With a steady hand, he inserted the electronic chip into the slot.

A soft "ding" echoed.

The door unlocked, and Adrian entered without hesitation, heading straight for the elevator with a determined purpose.

Adrian walked confidently, blending in without hesitation. The researchers, focused on their work, didn't notice him at all.

He stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the third basement level.

The doors opened with a soft chime, and as he stepped out, a mechanical voice suddenly echoed in his mind and a line of text appeared in front of his eyes

Each time you check in at a location, you receive a reward.

Designated sign-ins require signing in at specific locations. These tasks are harder to complete, but the rewards are generally three stars or higher.

However, designated sign-ins are rare, making this Adrian's first experience with one.

When he saw that completing it also included a random lottery, he was both surprised and excited.

Feeling at ease, Adrian reached for the door in front of him, his movements confident.

There was no time to wait for the elevator. He sprinted like lightning, rushing up to the first floor and bursting out the door.

A series of deafening explosions erupted behind him. 

Before he could even feel relieved, a scorching wave of heat struck him from behind.

The force of the blast knocked him off his feet, sending him sprawling to the ground. 

But the ominous feeling in his chest only grew stronger, more urgent. 

Ignoring the pain from his fall, Adrian scrambled to his feet and sprinted away as fast as he could. 

His speed was incredible, covering more than ten meters in mere moments as he fled further from the chaos.

Just as Adrian took two steps, a deafening explosion echoed behind him. 

In an instant, the roof of the Dray family's experimental base was obliterated, reduced to a fine powder. Cracks snaked across the surrounding walls, spreading rapidly.

The fractures multiplied, weaving a spider web-like pattern over the towering ten-meter-high building. 

Then came the sound. 

**Boom!**

**Boom!** 

Three deep, resonant drumbeats reverberated through the air. It felt as though they came from the very core of one's soul, shaking Adrian to his core with their eerie, heart-controlling rhythm. The sound was inexplicably terrifying and awe-inspiring. 

The patrol guards on the perimeter froze in shock, unable to react in time. The seven or eight closest guards were overwhelmed by the blast, their minds blank as they collapsed, unconscious. 

Only the captain managed to recover his senses. 

His pupils contracted, panic flickering in his eyes before he roared at the top of his lungs, "Fall back! Get away from the experimental base!"

His shout jolted the remaining patrol members from their stupor. 

Terrified, they scrambled to escape, wishing they had eight legs to carry them faster. 

But just as they began to flee, the situation took a dramatic turn. 

**Boom!** 

A deafening noise erupted as a massive hole appeared in the base's roof. 

From the wreckage, a white-and-purple humanoid Pokémon soared into the sky, radiating an overwhelming aura of power.
