Pokemon: My Fate System Is Too Overpowered!!

Chapter 45: Chapter 44: Champion and the Pokémon Egg Selection

"The match is over! The winner is Ryuu!"

The school tournament had lasted all day, with battles raging across the different arenas.

From the quarter-finals to the semi-finals—

And finally, to the grand finals.

Ryuu swept through the competition, dominating each battle with overwhelming strength.

And in the end—

He was crowned champion.

Shindou Aio, however, wasn't as lucky.

She had the misfortune of facing Ryuu before the finals and had to settle for third place.

If she had landed in a different bracket, her Charmander and Milotic could have easily secured her the runner-up position.

But it didn't matter much.

The competition here was too weak anyway.

The students at this school simply weren't strong enough.

If this had been a top-tier academy, like Tokyo's No. 1 High, Ryuu would still win—

But the battles wouldn't have been this easy.

---

"Congratulations, Ryuu! You are this year's school champion!"

The principal, an elderly but energetic man, personally handed Ryuu the trophy.

As he observed the young trainer, his satisfaction grew.

Ryuu was not just strong—

He had a Shelgon.

If nurtured properly, he could become one of the best trainers in the region.

With Ryuu representing their school in the college entrance exams, they might even win national recognition.

Perhaps even attract funding from the Pokémon Education Bureau.

The principal had already made up his mind—

Ryuu would be a top priority for the school.

Ryuu took the trophy with a casual grip.

It was his first official tournament victory.

Since reincarnating into this world, he had never won any certificates before.

Not even something as simple as a "Model Student" award.

Although—

He did win a lot of participation ribbons in kindergarten.

Not that he cared.

"Now, the top three competitors, come with me."

The principal turned, leading them toward a special selection area.

As part of the prize, the top three students could choose a Pokémon.

But truthfully, the selection wasn't great.

For most common students, these Pokémon were decent.

But for Ryuu?

They were worthless.

His true goal was elsewhere—

The Pokémon Egg Storage Room.

---

The principal led the three of them to the Pokémon Reserve Area, also known as Pokémon Paradise.

"Ryuu!"

Aio suddenly clung to his arm, looking up at him with bright eyes.

"Help me pick one!"

She completely trusted his judgment.

Meanwhile, the runner-up—some random guy from Class 2—stood silently.

Ryuu didn't even remember his name.

"Don't worry, I'll find you something half-decent," Ryuu assured Aio.

He scanned the Pokémon Paradise.

It was filled with Pokémon—

But most were weak.

What he saw:

Oddish

Caterpie

Weedle

Pidgey

All trash-tier Pokémon.

Even the strongest ones barely reached 450 base stats.

Ryuu walked past dozens of weaklings, disappointed.

Then, suddenly—

He stopped.

A Nidoran♂ was sitting quietly in the corner.

Ryuu narrowed his eyes.

This one… wasn't bad.

[Pokémon: Nidoran♂]

Potential: Gym-Level

Final Evolution: Nidoking

For a normal student, this was a solid choice.

Nidoking was a powerhouse, far better than Nidoqueen in offensive battles.

"Aio," Ryuu said, pointing at the Nidoran♂.

"Take this one. It'll be useful early on."

Aio nodded without hesitation.

"Okay! I'll take it!"

She didn't really care about the school Pokémon.

Her parents had already promised to buy her something stronger anyway.

At worst, she could just gift Nidoran♂ to a family member or a loyal employee in their company.

The principal remained silent the entire time.

Ryuu, however, wasn't done yet.

"Principal," he said.

"I don't want these Pokémon."

"Take me to the Pokémon Egg Room instead."

The principal hesitated for a moment—

Then nodded.

"No problem. Follow me."

The school had no way of knowing which eggs were good or bad.

So, letting Ryuu pick freely wasn't an issue.

Soon, they arrived at the Pokémon Egg Incubation Room.

Inside, dozens of eggs were neatly arranged on display.

All varied in color, each representing different Pokémon types.

Ryuu's eyes gleamed.

Immediately, he activated his Data Vision.

One by one, he analyzed the eggs.

Potential Ratings:

Common-level

Gym-Level

Common-Level

Novice-Level

Ryuu sighed internally.

Most of these eggs were garbage.

Some weren't even worth picking up.

The principal observed Ryuu carefully.

He had noticed something odd.

Ryuu's expressions changed each time he looked at an egg.

It was almost as if—

He could tell which eggs were good or bad.

The principal quickly shook his head.

Impossible.

There was no way anyone could do that.

Not even the most advanced Pokémon researchers had that ability.

After scanning almost every egg, Ryuu felt disappointed.

None of them had exceptional potential.

There was only one small room left.

"If there's nothing in there," he thought, "I'll just pick the best gym-level egg and call it a day."

As he turned to enter—

Something happened.

Beneath his feet—

A golden glow suddenly flashed.

His heart skipped a beat.

"Wait…"

This was—

A Gold-Ranked Destiny Event.
