Pokemon: My Fate System Is Too Overpowered!!

Chapter 42: Chapter 41: Aron's First Victory

"Frogadier…"

Watanabe Shun's face darkened the moment he saw Ryuu's Pokémon.

That damn Frogadier—the same one that completely humiliated his Torchic before.

He still hadn't forgotten their first battle.

Back then, he had been crushed, utterly embarrassed.

And now, it was happening again.

It wasn't fair.

Why was his Torchic so useless?

Why was its potential so low?

Why couldn't it even put up a decent fight?

Shun clenched his fists, trying to suppress his frustration.

But Ryuu?

He just smirked.

"Torchic, use Smokescreen!"

"Frogadier, Hydro Pump."

A thick cloud of smoke covered the battlefield, blocking vision—

But before it could fully spread, a powerful blast of water tore through the haze.

Boom!

A direct hit.

Torchic was blown off its feet, its small body soaring through the air before landing hard on the ground.

Completely knocked out.

It didn't even stand a chance.

The referee glanced at Torchic, then raised his hand.

"Torchic is unable to battle. The winner is Ryuu from Class 1!"

The crowd erupted into whispers.

"That was fast…"

"Frogadier is way too strong!"

Shun's face burned with humiliation.

This was just like last time.

A complete one-sided slaughter.

Before he could say anything, Ryuu walked past him, casually dropping a comment.

"Yo, do you even train your Pokémon?" Ryuu teased. "Or are you just too broke to buy the right resources?"

Shun froze.

His entire face turned red.

What did he mean by broke?

He had spent a fortune on Torchic's training—

It was just Torchic's own fault for being so weak!

"I-I…"

Shun tried to speak, but Ryuu was already gone, leaving behind only his arrogant smirk.

Across the arena, Shindou Aio had just finished her own match.

With her Charmander's impressive strength, she had easily won.

"Ryuu, you barely even had to try," she laughed, running up to him.

"You should have at least let him land one hit!"

Hearing this, Shun nearly vomited blood from anger.

What was that supposed to mean?!

Did she really have to rub it in like that?!

Ryuu just shrugged.

"Aio, your next match might be tougher. Keep an eye on your opponents."

Aio nodded.

Though her Charmander was strong, there were still other skilled trainers in the tournament.

While Charmander had high potential, its early-game performance wasn't overwhelming.

It still had weaknesses—especially against bad matchups.

Only later on, when it evolves into a Charizard, would it have an undeniable advantage.

For now, she just needed to keep training.

---

As the tournament continued, the weaker students were eliminated one by one.

Unsurprisingly, most of those who advanced had financial backing—money was still a major factor in success.

Except for one person.

Watanabe Shun.

He had the worst luck imaginable.

Even though he was from a wealthy family, he had somehow ended up with the weakest Pokémon.

And now, he was already out of the tournament.

But Ryuu?

He was just getting started.

His next opponent was someone else from Class — Ma Hiroto.

This was the guy who was supposed to get a Charmander as his starter but unfortunately, his supposed fate had been stolen.

"Ryuu, you're done for this time!" Hiroto declared, stepping onto the battlefield.

Ryuu raised an eyebrow.

This guy was way too confident.

Which meant…

He must have prepared something special for this fight.

...

The crowd whispered excitedly as Hiroto smirked.

"Let's see you handle this!"

He threw out his Poké Ball—

A Voltorb appeared on the field.

"Voltorb?"

The audience was surprised.

"That's actually a pretty good pick!"

"Yeah! Electric-types counter Water-types. He's trying to shut down Frogadier!"

Ryuu narrowed his eyes.

So that's what this was.

Hiroto expected him to use Frogadier, so he brought out a counter.

Too bad for him.

Instead of Frogadier, Ryuu smirked and threw out a different Poké Ball.

"Aron, you're up."

The moment Aron appeared, the entire stadium went silent.

"Wait… is that an Aron?"

"How the hell does Ryuu keep getting all these rare Pokémon?!"

"First a Frogadier, now this?!"

Hiroto's face turned pale.

This wasn't what he had planned.

He specifically chose Voltorb to deal with Frogadier—

But against Aron?

Electric moves were basically useless.

"Voltorb, Rollout!"

The round-bodied Pokémon curled up and started spinning, rolling forward with increasing speed.

Rollout was a unique move—it got stronger the longer it continued.

If left unchecked, it could eventually deal massive damage.

"Aron, Rock Tomb."

With a single stomp, Aron shook the ground, summoning large boulders around the battlefield.

Voltorb slammed into the rocks, skidding to a halt.

It winced in pain.

Rollout had stopped mid-attack.

Hiroto gritted his teeth.

"Damn it!"

Before he could issue another command, Ryuu raised a hand.

"Aron, Iron Head."

Aron charged forward, its metallic body gleaming as it rammed straight into Voltorb.

The Electric-type Pokémon bounced backward, hitting the ground hard.

Its eyes swirled.

It was over.

"Voltorb is unable to battle. The winner is Ryuu!"

Ryuu casually recalled Aron, acting as if nothing had happened.

But the crowd?

They were stunned.

"He made that look way too easy…"

"First Frogadier, now Aron… how do you even beat this guy?"

Hiroto stood there frozen, unable to process his loss.

He had been so sure that he had a counter strategy.

But Ryuu had read him like a book.

Not only that—

He had completely outclassed him.

Even before the battle started, he had already lost.

Ryuu turned away, heading for the next match.

Without even looking back, he waved a hand dismissively.

"Next time, try thinking two steps ahead."

The crowd exploded with laughter.

Hiroto's face turned bright red.

But Ryuu?

He was already focused on the next round.

One step closer to the championship.
