Chapter 47: Haru and Claire
The next morning James looked at Haru, as he spoke to Haru, Haru heard what he said and looked back at him.
Haru looked at him. "Can you repeat"
James looked at him as he spoke. "Any plans for your date with Clair"
Ethan looked at him as he spoke. "I don't know, I don't know her so well like I do Whitney, and up to yesterday I thought she hated me".
James gave Haru a teasing look. "Well, it sounds like she definitely doesn't hate you anymore. You sure about that 'I don't know her so well' part? Because she seemed pretty interested in you during your battle."
Haru sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, I know. I wasn't expecting that either. I mean, I get that she was probably just being friendly, but it's kind of hard to switch gears when someone who used to treat you like... well, like a kid, suddenly acts all interested. I'm just trying to figure out where I stand with her."
James raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Sounds like you're not sure what to do with this whole 'new Clair,' huh? You might want to think about it before your next encounter."
Haru thought for a moment, then shrugged. "I guess. It's just... I don't want to complicate things. I've got Whitney, and I'm not sure what's going on with Clair. But at the same time, I don't want to be rude or avoid her."
Casey, who had been listening nearby, chimed in with a grin. "Look, Haru, just be honest. If you don't know what you want, don't lead anyone on. Clair's not the type to wait around, and neither is Whitney, for that matter. You've got to sort out your feelings before you make things even more confusing."
James nodded in agreement. "Exactly. It's a balancing act, but the only way to keep everyone happy is to be upfront about your intentions. Maybe start with talking to Clair more, get to know her better before you jump into anything serious."
Haru leaned back, thinking about it. "I guess you're right. I need to take things one step at a time. First, I've got to figure out how to handle Clair without making things weird, then maybe I can start sorting out everything else."
James patted him on the back. "Sounds like a plan, my guy. Just don't go making things more complicated than they need to be."
Haru nodded, feeling a bit more settled. "Yeah, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks, guys."
Later that day Haru arrived to Claire gym for there um Date?, it was a weird feeling ok she and him didn't get along and when he came back she said wanna date or will go out for dinner in this case he was wearing his normal outfit.
As for where they were going Clair had already chosen it for him, and they was wearing a nice dress it higtent her curves and there was a boob window, probably to catch his eyes as he looked at her he thought this would star up some memorys from his past life maybe she was another one of his past life lovers but nope noting she was new, as Haru looked at her.
Clair looked at him as she smirked, as her blue eyes meet Haru black. "So ready Mr I ages like wines".
Haru looker at her. "Hey I was a nice kidx".
Claire then chuckle as she looked at him. "You looked like brat in my opinion, and now your handsome".
Haru couldn't help but chuckle at Clair's playful jab. He'd never expected their dynamic to shift so drastically in such a short time. They'd gone from rivals to... well, whatever this was now.
"Guess I've changed a bit," Haru said, adjusting the collar of his jacket slightly. "I didn't expect you to be this... well, forward about it."
Clair gave him a teasing smile as she twirled a strand of her hair. "Well, it's not every day I get to apologize to someone and then have dinner with them. Plus, I wasn't expecting you to be this... mature, either. Guess I was wrong about you."
Haru raised an eyebrow. "Oh? So, I'm not just a kid in your eyes anymore?"
Clair laughed softly. "Not anymore. I mean, sure, you've always been a strong trainer, but seeing you now—well, you've grown into someone who's actually worth my time." She paused, her gaze softening slightly. "Though, I wouldn't have thought I'd end up sharing a meal with you after all those years."
Haru smirked, trying to play it cool. "You know, I've always been the type to surprise people."
Clair gave him a knowing look as they walked together towards the restaurant she had chosen. "I've noticed."
The two of them spent the evening talking over dinner, the atmosphere surprisingly relaxed. The awkwardness that Haru had initially felt had faded as they found themselves discussing old memories and even joking about the events of the past. Clair, despite her bold personality, seemed genuinely interested in getting to know him better—not just the gym leader but the person Haru had become.
As the night wore on, Haru couldn't shake the feeling that maybe this wasn't just about their past rivalry, but something more. While he wasn't sure if this was the start of anything serious, he couldn't deny the chemistry between them. But his thoughts kept drifting back to Whitney—after all, she was the one he'd been with longer, and he'd promised to keep her as his number one.
By the time dinner had finished, Clair's playful mood had softened into something more sincere. She gave Haru a gentle smile as they stood outside the restaurant.
"So," Clair began, her voice a little quieter now, "I know things between us were... complicated before, but I hope we can at least start over. As friends, maybe?"
Haru met her gaze and nodded. "Yeah, I think starting fresh sounds like a good idea."
Clair reached out, placing a hand on his arm for a brief moment before pulling back with a slight blush. "Well, it's a start. And who knows? Maybe we'll see where things go."
Haru smiled back, his mind swirling with the possibilities. "We'll see, Clair. We'll see."
As they parted ways, Haru couldn't help but feel a strange sense of peace about the night. Things were complicated, sure, but maybe that was just part of life. And for now, that was okay.
In a different place, seating on a chair seeing the things on his paper, as he looked at a few grunts, this was non other then Archer
Archer looked at all of them and then spoke. "So our base was discovered by Lance, anything more".
One of the grunts then spoke. "Yes boss, a lot of trh things were deleted but the international Police found out a lot of blue prints".
Archer then holded his head, as he looked at them. "Cancel it".
Another of the Grunts then the spoke. "What do you mens by it".
Archer slammed his hand as he looked at them. "Any and all cloning operation, all them tell the scientists to fouces on the collar and Radio waves".
The room went silent as Archer's words sank in. The grunts exchanged nervous glances before one of them hesitantly spoke up.
"But, Boss... we've invested so many resources into the cloning operations. The scientists were confident we were close to replicating the success of Mewtwo—"
Archer cut him off with a sharp glare, his voice cold and commanding. "I said cancel it. Lance and the International Police are already too close. If they catch wind of those projects, we'll lose everything. The collars and radio wave technology are safer, less flashy. Focus on controlling Pokémon instead of creating them. That's our best bet for now."
The grunts nodded reluctantly, taking notes as Archer continued.
"I want all files and samples destroyed by the end of the day. No loose ends. If any scientist objects, remind them who's in charge." His eyes gleamed with a dangerous intensity as he leaned back in his chair. "And make sure security is doubled at the labs working on the collars and radio waves. We can't afford another breach."
One of the grunts saluted. "Understood, Boss. We'll handle it immediately."
As the grunts filed out of the room, Archer stared at the scattered papers on his desk. Blueprints for the collars and their corresponding radio wave transmitters lay in front of him. He picked up one of the schematics, studying it closely.
"If we can perfect this technology," Archer muttered to himself, "we won't need clones. Every Pokémon, from the weakest Caterpie to the strongest Dragonite, will bend to our will. And then..."
His lips curled into a sinister smile as he envisioned Team Rocket's dominance over the Pokémon world. "Not even Lance or the International Police will be able to stop us."
Archer stood, his coat billowing as he turned toward the large window overlooking the base. "This is only the beginning. Team Rocket will rise again."
Archer then looked at a file, as the was the Picture of Haru. "And then there is this kid, The Prodigy Of Johto is back and making record time, he has stopped 1 operation by self, we need that Dragon egg, and then Lance and him took this one down, and yeat". He then looked at a Picture of Jessie, James and Meowth with Haru. "He managed to make them join his side".
Archer's grip tightened on the file as he glared at Haru's picture. "The Prodigy of Johto... Ethan Haru Bit Harmonia." His voice dripped with frustration. "He's not just another meddling kid. He's a problem. One operation stopped on his own, another dismantled with Lance. And to make things worse, he's somehow turned Jessie, James, and Meowth against us."
He tossed the photo of Haru onto the table, his eyes narrowing at the trio of former Rocket agents in the next image.
"Jessie and James… those fools were always liabilities, but they had their uses. Now, they've sided with him. What could he have promised them to make them betray Team Rocket so easily?" Archer muttered, leaning back in his chair.
One of his lieutenants cautiously entered the room. "Sir, about the Dragon Egg... the team is still searching for leads, but there's speculation it might already be in Haru's possession. Reports indicate he's been traveling with powerful Dragon-types."
Archer raised an eyebrow, a sly grin forming on his face. "So, he has the egg, does he? Or at least knows where it is. That explains why he's making waves in Johto again. A prodigy like him could be a bigger threat than Lance if we don't neutralize him."
The lieutenant hesitated. "Should we dispatch a team to... deal with him?"
Archer waved him off dismissively. "No, not yet. Killing him outright would only draw more attention, and Lance would come down on us harder than ever. No, we'll let him keep playing hero for now. But if he has that Dragon Egg, we'll find a way to take it from him. And when we do..."
He looked at Haru's photo again, his eyes gleaming with malice. "We'll make him regret ever crossing Team Rocket."
Turning back to the files on his desk, Archer flipped through more photos and reports, pausing on one of Clair and Haru during their gym battle.
"Clair, huh? Looks like he's making connections with powerful trainers, too. This kid isn't just good—he's strategic. We'll have to be careful with him."
Archer's grin widened. "But no matter how clever he thinks he is, he won't see us coming. Keep me updated on every move he makes. His downfall is only a matter of time."
The lieutenant saluted. "Understood, Boss."
As the room emptied, Archer leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling. "The Prodigy of Johto... Let's see how long you can keep up with us, Haru."
Archer then got a called, he opened as he smirked. Archer's grip tightened on the file as he glared at Haru's picture. "The Prodigy of Johto... Haru Ethan Bit Harmonia." His voice dripped with frustration. "He's not just another meddling kid. He's a problem. One operation stopped on his own, another dismantled with Lance.
