Upon receiving the command, Lian immediately unleashed Dragon Rage. Already wounded, it couldn't sustain another hit from Gligar; otherwise, even if victorious against Gligar, there wouldn't be enough energy left to face the upcoming Fearow.

Fearow was swift as well, and without sufficient stamina, any mistake could prove fatal. Unfortunately, Lian lacked recovery-type moves.

Based on his calculations, one Dragon Rage attack would not defeat Gligar at its current stamina level, but definitely not withstand a second strike.

Ideally, he hoped Gligar would continuously use Roost for healing, which played right into Lian's strategy. The damage inflicted by Dragon Rage should exceed the recovery provided by Roost.

By repeatedly using Dragon Rage while Gligar counters with Roost, Gligar's health would gradually deplete until it can no longer endure another Dragon Rage.

With Gligar now paralyzed, it became a vulnerable, moving target. Lian effortlessly landed Dragon Rage, leaving deep scars across Gligar's purple body with each impact wave.

Watching Gligar endure Dragon Rage, Kas felt uneasy. After all, Gligar was his Pokemon, and he strongly considered switching to Fearow to give Gligar a break.

However, he refrained from switching Pokemon during battles, believing that as a skilled Gym Leader, relying on substitutions to counter new Trainers would be unfair and exploitative.

Despite enduring Dragon Rage, Gligar remained combat-ready with substantial stamina left. It landed to rest, visibly healing and fading its wounds.

Meanwhile, Kalia continued instructing Lian to use Dragon Rage repeatedly.

Gligar consistently utilized Roost to recover stamina, leaving Kalia no choice but to have Charmeleon keep attacking. With Gligar's paralysis, it struggled to effectively retaliate.

Time passed, with Lian continuously unleashing Dragon Rage while Gligar persistently used Roost to regain stamina. Lian lost count of how many times Gligar had employed Roost; it must have been numerous occasions, making him inwardly ecstatic.

Even though Roost helped recovery, each instance of Dragon Rage still took its toll, accumulating more injuries on Gligar's body over time.

Kalia felt heartbroken seeing Gligar so battered. Kas seemed unrelenting, forcing Gligar to constantly use Roost, endure damage, heal, and repeat—a cycle she found excessively harsh.

If it were her, she would have undoubtedly switched Pokémon long ago, never allowing such continuous damage to persist.

"Gligar, close in on Charmeleon and use Slash!" Finally, Kas commanded Gligar to attack. Despite still being paralyzed with reduced speed, Gligar had adapted to its condition, enabling it to execute moves without significant hindrance.

Seeing Kas readying his offensive, Kalia promptly responded, "Charmeleon, maintain distance and use Dragon Rage! Don't let Gligar get close."

With Charmeleon's superior speed, keeping distance was effortless, especially as Gligar remained paralyzed, significantly slowing its approach. Closing that gap proved challenging.

Kas felt helpless; Paralysis indeed posed a formidable challenge, and worse yet, Kalia knew precisely how to exploit this state against Gligar.

Gligar desperately tried to close the distance, but Lian didn't give it a chance, swiftly running away, making pursuit impossible for the opponent.

Once Lian judged they were at an appropriate distance, he unleashed Dragon Rage. The invisible shockwave struck like a cannonball, sending Gligar flying. This time, unable to withstand the impact, Gligar collapsed onto the ground, falling unconscious.

"Return." Kas activated his Poké Ball to recall the unconscious Gligar. This was the first time he had faced such a challenging battle and felt utterly helpless.

In a typical fight, Dragon Breath rarely induces Paralysis, and Charmeleon wouldn't possess such incredible speed. Unfortunately for Kas, he encountered Lian, not an ordinary Charmeleon.

As Lian saw Gligar being recalled into the Poké Ball, he knew the next opponent would be Fearow. Compared to Gligar, Fearow posed a greater concern.

Firstly, Fearow's speed surpasses Gligar with a base stat of 100, although still not matching Lian's pace. However, as a Gym Leader's Pokémon, the gap between them wouldn't be too significant.

More importantly, despite being a flying type, Fearow can learn the Ground-type move Drill Run autonomously. A single hit from Drill Run could potentially defeat Lian instantly; one misstep and it would spell disaster.

Apart from Drill Run, Fearow possesses other powerful moves like Aerial Ace, Fury Attack, and Mirror Move. Especially concerning is Mirror Move; if Lian uses Dragon Rage, Fearow could mimic it using Mirror Move. With Lian's current Stamina level, he cannot withstand the damage from Dragon Rage twice.

Fortunately, Lian could still employ Hidden Power (Rock), dealing significant damage to Fearow. The key was avoiding its Drill Run at all costs and preventing Mirror Move from duplicating his moves.

Kas released a Poké Ball, and Fearow emerged with its expansive wings, much larger than Spearow's smaller ones. Unlike Spearow, Fearow could fly tirelessly for an entire day.

In some large cities, Fearow is even used as cargo carriers due to their broad wings, allowing them to sustain long flights despite carrying heavy loads.

Fearow soared into the sky, immediately positioning itself outside the gym—a preferred combat style akin to hunting, swooping down from above to attack.

Kalia observed this Fearow closely, knowing this battle was crucial. If Charmeleon couldn't defeat it, Grovyle would stand no chance either, given its relative strength.

With Charmeleon already injured and not at its best condition, she needed to be cautious.

She promptly commanded, "Charmeleon, use Hidden Power!" Hidden Power (Rock) dealt double damage to Fearow, making it the most effective move available.

Upon hearing "Hidden Power," Kas recalled that during the Extreme Speed Conference, the Charmeleon seemed to have learned Hidden Power as well. More importantly, its Hidden Power was Ice Type, capable of countering Fearow effectively.

Kas' expression turned grave, as cheating in such competitions is taken very seriously. As the organizer, he would ensure severe punishment if any cheating were discovered.

Now, Kas looked at Kalia with a hint of suspicion. If the upcoming Hidden Power used by Charmeleon turns out to be Ice Type, his suspicions would be confirmed.

"Fearow, use Drill Run!"

Kas commanded Fearow to attack, utilizing the Ground-type move, Drill Run. He showed no mercy, believing cheaters deserve no sympathy.

Had there been more evidence, he might have immediately halted the match and launched an investigation against Kalia and her Charmeleon.

Lian gazed up at the soaring Fearow, already preparing for evasive action. He knew he had to avoid Drill Run at all costs. Fortunately, he could now burst his speed again, giving him confidence in dodging this initial Drill Run attempt.

Fearow swooped down from the sky but didn't directly target Lian. Since Drill Run is a Ground-type move, it naturally initiates from the ground.

Flapping its broad wings, Fearow descended towards the surface. As it approached, its body began to spin rapidly, retracting its wings, resembling a drilling machine charging at Lian just above the ground.

With Fearow continuously spinning forward, sand and dirt flew up, creating whirlwinds around it.

Lian decided not to immediately use Hidden Power (Rock); instead, he prepared to dodge first before unleashing his move, ensuring greater safety.

Fearow's speed was impressive. The moment it charged with its spinning Drill Run, Lian burst into action, swiftly evading to the left.

It was a close call; Lian could feel the force of the swirling winds generated by Fearow's spin. If hit, it would undoubtedly have taken half his life away.

Fearow's Drill Run missed, forcing it to spread its wings again and prepare for flight. Seizing this opportunity, Lian decisively unleashed Hidden Power (Rock).

The surrounding rock energy converged on Lian, transforming into a pale brown Hidden Power glow, which then surged towards the airborne Fearow.

As Fearow began ascending towards the sky, before it could fully take off, the awakened light enveloped its body. Instantly upon contact, a burst of intense energy shockwave erupted.

Fearow struggled under the impact of Hidden Power (Rock), visibly suffering with continuous damage and feathers scattering.

Only after enduring the full force of the awakened attack did Fearow manage to flap its wings again and regain altitude.

"Isn't it supposed to be Ice Type?"

Kas was taken aback, having already prepared to halt the match. However, Charmeleon's Hidden Power turned out to be of the Rock Type instead.

Did he misjudge?

It seemed too coincidental not to raise suspicions, but according to common knowledge among Trainers, a single Pokemon cannot possess two different types of Hidden Power.

Shaking his head, Kas realized he must have been mistaken; it likely was just another Charmeleon with a different Hidden Power type, narrowly avoiding an embarrassing misunderstanding.

Fortunately, he didn't act impulsively. Otherwise, falsely accusing a new Trainer only for it to later be revealed as a misunderstanding could severely undermine his credibility as Gym Leader. It might even lead to students leaving the gym lectures he conducts.
