Pirates: Building a Pirate Family

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Rockefeller Charlotte

"Hoo! Hoo!"

"Ten thousand, thirty thousand, two hundred and twenty-one!"

"Ten thousand, thirty thousand, two hundred and twenty-one!"

A sturdy boy, around seventeen or eighteen years old, stood by the sea, holding up a dumbbell ten times larger than himself and swinging it.

With each swing, gusts of wind rushed through the air.

And this boy had been going on for most of the day.

Sweat trickled down his muscular frame to the ground.

At a height of 1.9 meters (about 6'3") and with strong muscles, it was hard to believe that this boy was only [age].

"Fourteen thousand!"

Bump!

When the boy swung the dumbbell for the [number]th time, his arm gave out, and the dumbbell crashed to the ground.

"Huh! I'm exhausted!"

The boy collapsed onto the ground, gasping for breath.

The muscles in his arms trembled slightly.

"Three thousand more swings than yesterday!" he said excitedly, clenching his fists.

He knew that the dumbbell weighed a full hundred tons, but he had easily swung it [number] times.

This was no feat for an ordinary person.

Indeed, the boy had traveled to a world where strength mattered most.

This world was strangely familiar to him—he recognized it from the One Piece anime he had watched as a child in his previous life.

He had actually found himself in the world of One Piece, but it seemed he had arrived too early.

When he was ten years old, he had stumbled upon a newspaper article about the Rocks Pirates. The current year was only 1480, meaning there were still 40 years to go before Luffy would set sail.

Charlotte, as the boy was now called, was completely stunned by the news.

Anyone who had watched One Piece knew that this world was dangerous, and pirates could invade at any moment. While there were fewer pirates in this era than in the future, the threat of one showing up at any time was still real.

To make matters worse, Charlotte was in the second half of the Grand Line, the dangerous "New World."

This left Charlotte feeling even more afraid.

Having transmigrated into the body of a ten-year-old boy, he had already been overwhelmed. But now, finding himself in the New World, his sense of crisis deepened.

After panicking for a while, Charlotte calmed down.

In his previous life, he had been a mercenary, and though all of this felt bizarre, he managed to resist the urge to deny reality.

It was an odd turn of events—he had joined the mercenary ranks after hearing about the large sums of money made in the Middle East during summer vacations. Somehow, after being introduced by a friend, he found himself working with a mercenary group, and so began his career.

As the saying goes, "If you often walk by the river, you'll eventually get your shoes wet." During a battle with Xiao Heizi, a melon grenade appeared unexpectedly next to him.

He had no idea who threw it.

The grenade exploded instantly, and there was no time for Charlotte to react. He felt his body torn apart before losing consciousness.

When he woke up, he was in this new world—inside the body of a ten-year-old boy.

It turned out that the original owner of this body had met an unfortunate fate: he had been caught in a wave while fishing on the beach and was knocked unconscious by a blow to the rocks.

Charlotte had taken over this "vacant" body.

The island he was on was small, with a population of only about 1,000 people. It was located in the first half of the New World, where pirates weren't as numerous. This was partly because the G-8 Navy base was nearby.

While this Navy branch wasn't as famous as some of the others in the later timeline, it still provided Charlotte, at just ten years old, with a sense of security.

After understanding his surroundings, Charlotte began recalling the One Piece anime he had watched in his previous life.

To his surprise, his memories came back to him clearly.

While he had watched One Piece as a child, he hadn't had much time for it during his mercenary career, and many plot details had faded from his mind. But now, it all came back in vivid detail.

This was a source of excitement for Charlotte.

With these memories, he knew that as long as he held onto a few key details, he could make it to the finale of this world.

Of course, Charlotte didn't just want to sit back and let fate play out. He was determined to carve his own path and leave his name in this world.

He wasn't the type to settle for mediocrity.

His new name was Rockefeller Charlotte.

Now that he knew he was in the world of One Piece, Charlotte began planning his training.

Having watched the anime, he knew the dangers this world posed—especially during the Great Pirate Era, when pirates swarmed the seas like ants.

He didn't want to die aimlessly one day.

To live a meaningful life, Charlotte started his training.

He knew One Piece's training system: swordsmanship, physical skills, the three types of Haki, Devil Fruits, and spear techniques.

All of these could make him stronger.

Charlotte considered his options carefully.

As a former mercenary, spear techniques were his first choice. However, he didn't even have a spear!

On top of that, the guns in this world were primitive flintlocks. Charlotte immediately discarded this option.

What about Devil Fruits? Charlotte ruled that out immediately—he had no idea if the original owner had any, and even if he did, how could he find one?

The three types of Haki were another consideration.

Armament Haki? His ten-year-old body wasn't strong enough.

Observation Haki? He was still too young to practice it properly.

Conqueror's Haki? Only one in a million people had this potential, and Charlotte wasn't sure if he had the qualifications.

After dismissing these options, only swordsmanship and physical training remained.

Charlotte knew a little about these from the anime, so he decided to give them a try.

His first goal was to train his body. He used Zoro as a reference, as the anime clearly depicted his training routines. For example, lower body explosive training like lifting dumbbells while jumping, and upper body explosive training like swinging dumbbells.

Charlotte combined these methods with the physical training techniques he had learned as a mercenary, making them practical.

As for swordsmanship, he didn't have a clear plan yet, but he knew that he just needed to keep swinging the sword. With persistence, he was sure to improve.

With Zoro's example in mind, Charlotte was determined to succeed.

He didn't believe that as a time traveler, he couldn't succeed.

And so, after resting for two days in his thatched cottage, Charlotte began his training. To his surprise, his injuries healed much faster than expected. Despite having several broken bones when he was rescued from the beach, he was able to get out of bed, full of energy, in just two days.

He had eaten several meals of meat, which seemed to speed up his recovery.

The people around him weren't surprised. It seemed completely normal.

Charlotte soon realized the meat he had been eating came from the Sea Kings—the same creatures that had bitten off Red-Haired Shanks' left arm at the start of One Piece.

This discovery led Charlotte to another way of becoming stronger: eating.
